annoying newbies vs. ass hole newbies

Educated people

When I first read the name Literotica, it sounded educated but then I saw the site.Parts of it is very intellectual (this thread), then we have the Amateur pics, yeah I know the tougher ones are under Harderstuff.com (btw, I have a contri there) is that still to be considered intellectual...well anyways if I want to appear as a distinguished intelligent person, I go to other sites or simply go into the real world. I am not saying that you don't have to be polite on boards like these...but come on guys why is everybody using Usernames, instead of their real names.
Can I lose my virginity now...it is kind of annoying...

There is an old saying that says.....

"You only get one chance to make a good first impression". I did not find that to be true here. If anyone blundered onto the BB and created a worse impression than I did, then I haven't seen it. Candidly, I now believe that you get more than one chance, here, to make a good first impression.

This place is lke a small town. I found that the population in small towns breaks down into 3 groups. There are "natives" ( the original folks orthose born there), "locals"( people who move there and become accepted by the natives) and "all others" (including peope who vacation there, people who live there but aren't ever accepted and other transients).

When dr. blue and I owned a place in Charlevoix, MI we learned a lot about small town life. Eventually we sold the place and now look forward to going there as " former locals". It's the same way here, except you learn the rules here real fast or you are just not "accepted". And accepted doesn't mean that everybody loves you, nor should that be your goal.

I have never been a big "group" kinda guy. I love people but I pretty much keep to myself. I don't assimilate real well. With me it has always been "what you see is what you get", as long as I take my meds. (Although my behavior is now less shocking and I am now more tolerant of others).

I believe that we just need to accept each others differences and if you or I find someone's behavior offensive or inappropriate, we can ignore it, emial the person directly about it, or make a big deal about it in a thread that shoots flames all over the place. Simple as that.

I feel like a "local" on the Lit BB, having been here a while, still getting to know the "natives"
and watching the newbies trying to find their way. (In Charlevoix, newbies are known derisevely as conesucking fudgies or as fudgies). So, if you're a newbie, just coming into town, Welcome!! If you chose to be a jerk, according to my definition, or if I am percieved by you as a jerk, we will not speak. Otherwise, I will look forward to getting to know you better.

That's ole blue's point of view.
BTW, what is this thread all about. It took me so long to type this post, that I hope I posted this reply to the right thread. If not, BFD!!!!!

At least we are furtunate enough to have very few asshole newbies. They seem to turn to assholes after theyre here awhile. :)

I agree with crystalhunting!

Just because you're new to the community, doesn't mean you should be lumped into an 'asshole' or 'aggravating' category. Some of us new people post to the boards like the mature individuals we are. Of course, I can be an asshole too but I have yet to do so. When that happens I'll proudly stand behind what I've done.

Please don't lump those of us who don't act a certain way in with people who deliberately try to create problems.

Okay, enough said!!

It is being this newbie that is the ire for ranking on? How long is it being then to not wear the crowning of the newbie? I am hoping to be the oldie soon and not be the picked on anymore.

No it is not I am being Gnufi Charlie - I am being Gnufi Poppets so why is it you are the sorry?

Newbies are the future of the board (fuck I hate when I sound like a morbidly obese motivational speaker). Besides how can ya ' not like the cute little buggers. In addition, I used to be one.

You were a morbidly obese motivational speaker?

Yes. And when you become part of any community (or 'sub-category' within that community), you tend to adopt a framework for self-expression which others of your 'tribe' also conform to. For more (of my) thoughts on the matter from a similar discussion:

We are all speaking the same language (more or less!), but with various 'regional' and 'national' dialects. The 'international' dialect that either unites or divides us all could be thought of as an 'intellectual dialect'. This comes in various guises, and can be found at the heart of all the best threads. It's not about whether you're a 'newbie' or not, but what you have to say, and how you say it. As has already been said, being an "Asshole" and / or "Annoying" has nothing to do with being a "newbie". As any reader of semiotics will tell you: the relationship between signifier and signified is purely arbitrary.

Note the paradox above where I say "all the best threads"! This is suggestive of a cultural competence; again, it all depends on the individual [and to varying degrees their relationship to others on the BB].
