Damn. I thought this was about largely empty movie theaters.
I guess I could Google it. What's the fun in that? Plus I'd get a bunch of movie ads.![]()
The demographics shifted. Teens watched teen shows while adults vegged in cinemas. And then the adults netflixed while the teens went to cinemas. Maybe the demographics are shifting again. I haven't seen a movie ad in some years. I suppose cinemas still exist somewhere.
While those numbers are fairly consistent, you’d have to put things in context. The movie industry has been trending down According to these numbers. Throw out self inflicted wound of covid for those couple-three years and we’re just getting back to early ‘00’s numbers.Three stable geniuses ignoring $15.8 billion of movie theater revenue in 2024.
Are all MAGA sheep clueless about business and economics, or just the sheep in this forum?
It must be about time for a new Robin Hood. The lineups at local cinemas are mostly sequels and comic book sequels. The furniture pics show upgrades, especially in the front row seats, like recliners and couches. They try to provide luxury experiences to compete with home comfort. The result is high ticket prices to watch severely retreaded crap.
Fuck google use DuckDuckGo to do online searches instead...I guess I could Google it. What's the fun in that? Plus I'd get a bunch of movie ads.![]()

Now you know how people feel when they read one of your posts by accident.
Lol
Poor obsessive compulsive misogynist incel Lance is upset. He is 100% fact free, just like the other stable genius MAGA sheep.
They used to stay open by selling popcorn and stuff. The film industry doesn’t pay them, unless it’s for sneak previews or opinion maker screenings.Does the "film industry" pay them to stay open? They can't be making money. It's not friggin' tax dollars is it?![]()
Dude, Hooters still exists.

Every time I see you call someone stupid, I laugh so hard I pee a little bit.No, Hisarpy, err, scuse me, Glamorilla.... that would be you.
Between all twenty of your active Lit accounts, you have Rory beat many times over. You, of all people, should no better than bitch about other people's alts when you have, like, twenty of them yourself, mr.RebelSoul, or should I say, justplainjeff.
But quite honestly, Saint Ann's question is a fair question! I don't say this often as she isn't the brightest bulb on the tree but she does make a good point here, and I'll try to answer fairly (Because I grudgingly do owe her that):
I think there have been a couple things affecting the movie industry. A combination of things, really.
First, COVID. Whether you think COVID was a manufactured hoax or a liberal plot for control (or whatever ignorant cocakmammy theory you have; believe me if you've been on this forum long enough you've heard 'em all) the fact is, it did have a huge affect on movie attendance, from which they've never fully recovered.
Second, they have succeeded in pricing out a fair number of people, especially families. Between $25 movie tickets, $6 small cokes, $10 popcorns, you and your family could be in it for up to $200 per night just to see the latest "Transformers Vs. Batman IX: Faster and Definitely more Furious" movie.
Which brings me to point #3: Most movies suck. It's all superhero, marvel action retread stuff dumbed down for kids these days; lots of action, not a lot of acting or story. Rarely is there anything that comes through that I actually want to see, let alone waste $40 (after snacks, etc.) to go see.
And then, you have netflix, all this streaming crap, and big screen TV's, and most people would just rather watch it on DVD on a big screen TV rather than waste time paying $40 to see it in a crowded theater with a bunch of people who may have COVID.
