Are big breasts so bad?

Ya know. . .

Ya know that most women I know are worried about what I will or do think of their breast size?

I love'm all, seriously.

There is a gal I know who is 34 A (if I remember right) and she has mentioned it several times in the beginning. I DON'T CARE!
I like her for HER!

I have a high regard for her and how she looks or what size cup she is doesn't mean a darn thing to me.

Therefore, ladies, PLEASE be happy with what you have.

(and now back to the thread . . . . .)

I second the plug for Lane Bryant!

Besides having a huge selection, they are made SO very well...I have worn bras that were so much more expensive yet quickly became completely useless...Lane Bryant bras seem to last forever. Just like all the rest of their clothing. I have never been disappointed with anything from their stores, ever.

S.

I have to completely disagree with the statement about Lane Bryant here. The last few years everything that I've bought there has fallen apart within the first 3 washes. It is expensive and there isnt much there that I would really care to wear.

As far as their bras go.... dont even get me started on that. I bought a couple from there once. They were really cute. At least they were until I was wearing one of them for an entire day. The underwire was digging into me in places that I hadnt ever felt pain before. It was just killing me. And it didnt matter what I did to fix it, it just stayed taht way. I know you'll try to tell me the bra wasnt my size, but I'm still wearing that size bra now (hasnt changed in about 4 years now). My sister has had pretty much the same problem with their bras, and she's bigger than me.

As for what I buy now in terms of bras, I go to JC Penney or Sears. I can usually find something I like that doesnt make me feel like I've put on a suit of armor to hold my boobs up. The one I posted yesterday, I found that one at JC Penney. I seriously dont feel like I'm wearing an underwire bra when I wear it. In fact, I liked it so much, I went back and bought 6 more of them when they went on sale.

When it comes to clothign, I've found a lot of stuff at Kohl's, a newer store around here called H&M, and Sears. The stuff I like is a little harder to find, but after digging around a bit I can usually find exactly what I want.

Wish I could give you some of mine, I use to love mine when they were a plump C but the after having three kids, they are up to an overflowing DD. No one told me I would get stretch marks on my boobs!!

I'm right there with you on that one. Honestly, I think DDs are even a little too small since I get that "boob fluff" someone was mentioning earlier. Believe it or not, Playtex is the brand I wear. I have never had a problem finding a DD in that brand (of course, they aren't sexy bras.) It's next to impossible to find a sexy bra in a bigger size without an underwire and I absolutely cannot wear those. They dig into my boobs and arms.

that is seriously how I felt about underwire for the longest time. I recently tried the one made by vanity fair (it's about $28 US). I keep telling everyone about it and that they should try it (it's style # 75-120). I wear a 40DD and cant stand the fact that they look huge. But really, this bra makes them look smaller and it does not feel like I'm wearing underwire at all. And at the same time, it's like my boobs never move while I'm wearing it (even while running).

Wow ladies!

What a great response to this thread. I didn't realize there
were so many hot mamas feeling and thinking the same
way and things that I am. Now, if only there was
something we could do about it all...

This was a great idea for a thread, thank you!

For starters, a compliment should be sent out to those
companies who "accommodate us" (i.e. Lane Bryant) and
to keep up the good work, etc.

Next would be to get at the companies whose clothes
and lingerie we love but they don't' carry our sizes!

Caring for bras, esp. for those that are underwired:

HAND WASHING is the best way to go, and drip dry
afterwards!

I haven't put them thru the washer in ages!

A suggestion

How about this...
What if those of you who have those bras that you like and think they are sexy and believe in... take pictures of them and post them here on the thread. That way others can see what they look like and how they support. You can then tell them where you got them, model, and how much. Now with the internet, it seem you could buy them on line if you can not find them in your area.

and ok.. yea... I would like to see what they look like too....

Unfortunately I do not have a webcam :(

However, Lane Bryant, for example, has pictures of the
bras that they sell on their website. I'm sure that
Frederick's of Hollywood does the same thing. :)

I was reading this thread, so I thought I'd check out Lane Bryant. They don't even carry my size, so they're bad in my book. I guess 34 D/DD is pretty uncommon. Frederick's looks pretty good and they carry my size so I'll probably buy some from there. I've always worn underwire bras and I've never felt the wires or had a problem with them. I guess I'm just used to it. I wash my bras in the washer, but let them air dry. If I put them in the dryer they shrink, and that's not good at all.

You have a DD? I'd kill to be that size still, right now I wear a G cup and it's becoming too tight. :(

I'm feeling you, my sista. I, too, would kill for a DD. I haven't been a DD since I was 16. At a DD I could, at least, be creative with trying to make bra and panty sets by choosing panties the same color as my bra AND you can get bras in colors besides black, natural and the occasional white. Lane Bryant does a good job of offering a variety but you have to pay your right arm for one of them. Besides, the 38G this company offers is smaller than the 38G this one has and yadda, yadda, yadda. If I EVER get the money, I'm getting a breast reduction.

Although if I ever take my pattern making class I've been trying to get to for the past 2 years, I could (possibly) make my own damn bras. Lingerie....fuhgedaboudit.

My - aren't you the helpful one! lol

Now that we've discussed the bra part and I second, third or fourth the vote for LANE BRYANT!!!! Woooo Hooo!!!

What pisses me off is that there arent any in Canada! What the fuck is wrong with you guys, we are fat up here too!!!
It takes me a two hour drive over the boarder to get new lingerie, then an hour trying to make them look somewhat old and remove all the tags to get them back over. Then another two hour trip back home. What a waste of my time and the chance I may have to pay a huge amount to customs if they ever found out that my day of shopping usually tends to lend me about $500 less.

Now if only the bathing suits up here were as nice as the one I found last year at Fashion Bug, an 89$ suit I got for , hold on to your hats ladies- $11 !! Thats right $11!

Now if it meant shopping at great stores all the time and my kid and husband not being drafted, Id become an american tomorrow! lol NOT!

Edited to add: Im a 42d/dd depending on the weather!
Edited second time to say: New av is one of the ones hubby picked up in Minnesota from L.B.

i LOVE lane bryant bras. and some of them are soooooo cute. the latest i bought was the blue polka dot bra and panty set. :)

I just bought that set a couple of days ago!

I always had problems finding bras that were stylish and fit well until I discovered Lane Bryant. Either the back would slip up or the underwires would dig into my arms and sides or there was absolutely no support whasoever. Then one day when I was shopping at LB for a satin nightshirt, I noticed their bra selection, and the rest is history.

Depending on the style of the bra, I'm either a 38DD or a 40DDD, so it is important to try on a few sized to see which one fits the best. I never thought there was such a thing as a comfortable bra, but since I've been wearing thier brand I haven't felt the urge to come home and rip my bra off the minute I step though the door.

Now my man, on the other hand.....

I am a flat pattern maker and bras are hard to draft for anything above a b or c. Even with the curves softwear or a decent pattern it is hard, easier than straight drafting but still hard. The best bra patterns I have found are by kwik sew and Elan patterns. There is a bra making class on line which is fairly good and detailed.

Damn!!! Lane Byrant starts at band size 40, and I am a 38 at best. :( The unwired bras looked so nice too.

I'm a B/C cup, but i know what you guys are talking about as far as sizes.

I mean, I'm 125 pounds, but because i happen to be 3 inches taller than average (5ft 7) NOTHING fits me.

I just went into Marshall Field's the other day and tried on a cute halter top. They had small, medium and large. I took in the large and i could barely get it over my head!
Then I think I might have ripped it while peeling it off.

But such is the story of my life. I still shop in the junior's section (i'm only 18), but it still bothers me that i wear the largest sizes they carry. JC penny only carries up to size 13 jeans and I wear a size 11.

It seems that if you're in any way special (tall, big breasts, big ANYTHING), all the companies try to make you feel abnormal.

all the sizes make no size. I'm a large/xtra large shirt, size 11 jeans but guess what dress size?

a four

Make up your minds, companies!

I hear you about the halter tops........one manufacturer's
size Large may be another company's Medium! It's too bad
that there's not one UNIFORM size standard that all clothing
manufacturers should follow.

gosh I haven't worn Junior sizes since like high school....gosh
I feel old! :D Seriously, there are mail order places that do
carry junior sizes beyond size 13 (size 15, 17, 19 etc). Try
Delia's or another catalog. There was a cool catalog for juniors
that my sister used to get that carried those type of sizes
along w/ the other standard junior sizes, and for the life of me
I can't remember the name.....wait....its coming to me....its
called ALLOY. Try there for clothes....they do have some
cool stuff it looks like. If I have a chance I'll try to find a weblink
for it :)

For those who wear JUNIORS sizes

This is very helpful info here!

www.delias.com

store.alloy.com (via www.alloy.com)

ALLOY has junior sizes going from 0 thru 29! I am not
kidding when I say this! Delias junior sizes go from 1/2 thru
19/20.

Both places have great clothes.......for those interested! :)

Check with your insurance about the reduction. A friend of mine got her's reduced because of back problems and her insurance covered it 100%.

that is correct! Stores such as Lane Bryant, Catherine's, The
Avenue, and certain dept. stores such as JC Penney's have
plus-size depts that are decent. I've gone into Macy's, and
their plus-size clothes are way too mom/matronly for me in my
opinion.
And yes, the "average woman" is about a size 14-16. Not all
women are size 6s!

I just reccently bought bras and panties from Lane Bryant and The Avenue. They both rock! I'm a 48DDD and was able to find great bras in both stores. I have always hated underwires, but these are very comfortable and oh so sexy. They had a killer sale going on so they were incredibly cheap as well.

My sister just had a breast reduction. She went from an I to a D cup. The best part is that her insurance paid for it. She had to go through a long and annoying process, but it all paid off for her. She told me it all came down to the doctor documenting her back pain over a 6 month period of time and diagnosing a breast reduction as the only treatment. I think that she honestly would have saved up until she could afford it herself if the insurance company had denied her.
I am a DDD and I don't really have a lot of back pain. Some, but not really enough to complain about.
