i love the storms! one of the best reasons for living in Arizona. Saw a good amount of the lightning coming home from the cardinals game last night

*settles on in ... with her large glass of water*

From Washington State, actually. :) Got a job here, so packed me and the two kitties up and moved down. Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Tonight's lightening storm is very, very beautiful! Anyone else watch it ?

Yes, I have been drinking a lot of water. :)

I'm loving the sun, the monsoons and the storms. Its all so beautiful!

Friends and family up in the wet NW (although it is the warm season there now) were not sure I'd like it here, but I think AZ has a beauty all its own. Yes, pine trees, rain forests and green nature is beautiful. I will miss seeing Mt Rainier turn pink at sunset ... but what I have seen of it so far, you have color, you have an energy and storms that are perfect for standing on the balcony to watch!

A common misconception for many people is that Arizona is all desert, heat, and cactus...

Make sure you make a trip up north to the Flagstaff area, or the Rim country...the drive from Phoenix up the rim through Payson and to the White Mountains is absolutely beautiful...lots of pines, but different from what you have in Washington state...and it's a nice break from the heat in Phoenix, if you need one. :D

I was up in Scottsdale Thursday night and wound up driving home through a whopper of a storm...fantastic lightning show. Funniest thing was stopping for a quick bite to eat in Ahwatukee, and the kids working there were all agog at the sight of...omg...hail! Too frickin' funny...I thought we were bad in Tucson when it snows! Of course, as usual, the most dangerous part of driving on the interstate during that kind of storm is the other stupid idiot drivers that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground...or how to drive their car when it rains!

It's storming again tonight...got a bunch of rain earlier. Wonder if the UofA football game got delayed...?:rose:

Was pretty sure I'd heard hail, but it was too dark for me to see for sure. :)

Oh, my car and I have been thoroughly enlightened to the fact that a) deserts are not all flat, b) they aren't all sand and c) Nevada doesn't beleive in turnouts on long hill climbs. ;)

My two cats have adjusted well too, though I think I good part of that is they are happy they haven't had to go back into the carriers. ;)

So what do you all do for fun when not perusing the boards ?

Sounds like you all are acclimating well, then...that's good.:cattail:

And, well, when I'm not involved with Lit activities, everything in my family revolves around my kids' football. Especially this time of year...yeah, it's all about that!:D

I know what you mean shykittyme about AZ drivers and rain. When I first moved out here I was shocked with how bad everyone drove if water started falling from the sky.

However...

Now that I have been out here...(counts on fingers)...18 years or so, I can feel myself de-evolve any time moisture starts hitting my windshield. Maybe it is the monkey-like howls and arm waving that distracts us and not so much the rain.

;)

I do love it when it rains... driving home last night had a drizzly sunny patch between rest stops.. was nice.

its already starting to get cool here in phoenix :) well i think so at least lol

Well, at least maybe it's cool-er, lol... It's tolerable here, as long as they keep it down below 100. Hmm...I have to talk to "them" and see if "they'll" negotiate...! :D

you do that...but not really looking for things to cool down just yet lol

I love our weather...yes, even when it is 118 degrees. If I've said it once, I have said it a million times: I'd always rather be too hot than too cold.

The storms have been pretty intense at night here. The rain will do us good though. We do live in a desert after all...well some of us do;-)

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday night!!!

Just re-read this, lol....I'd rather be too cold than too hot! Like I've mentioned before in this thread...I hibernate in the summers as much as possible! Just come up for ice water and air every now and then, lol.....:cattail:

I think us Zonies run for air to air in the summer like most of the rest of the country runs from heat to heat in the winter.
