Addressed to my previous, I'll answer as best as I can.

Let me... suggest that I personally witnessed three such incidents (There have been many more to which I have been tangentially... interested) Each of the three BANNINGS occurred without discernible violation and without any warning - to posters who had never been so much as reprimanded before. The BANNINGS took place in the middle of the (USA) night. They were all but announced by Butters the very next morning.

These were "forever" BANS - meaning that, in the screen blocking access to these posters, the term of the BAN was "forever". And, specifically, NO REASON GIVEN was the "Reason Given".

In one instance, a very rigorous thread discussion concerning many of the issues being re-hashed in this thread - The entire thread - not just any potential "violation" - was nuked. There was a sudden BAN and any Credibility/Accountability/Lesson to be gleaned by the greater community was conspicuously - and without any explanation - covered up.

The details of the other two were even more bizarre. ABSOLUTELY NO VIOLATION even remotely occurred other than again... Butters voicing objections to... mostly at whomever she deemed (incorrectly I might add) she believed these posters to be. Butters was miffed. These otherwise innocuous posters were BANNED Again, NO WARNING or reprimand.

All kinds of abstraction can be made, but there are common denominators abound. Certainly the rash of BANNINGS has rampaged of late without published rule to account.

See how far this place would have gone had the banner FREE SPEECH - NO SPAM been ALL THE VIEWS L DEEMS FIT TO PRINT? Would have been a different... moneymaker.

I don't think that's possible. You can speculate, pontificate or imagine why, but there are only two people that would know for sure why: the banned and the one doing the banning. And the one banned might not be the most reliable of source of the truth.

To be honest I've read all of your posts on this thread and my take is that you have a flare for drama and embellishment. Most of what you say above is opinion, innuendo and speculation without a shred of evidence to back it up.

That being said, just in case, I'll set this cup of coffee down and slowly back away. See? My hands are empty.

I think it was more of a game until now. BB was deliberately breaking forum rules (mostly by posting more than 6 paragraphs, kill all democrats) for shit stirring and to get a new name to evade iggy lists.

But the flavor has changed imo, Laurel is no longer playing.

As long as someone can occasionally post a rational argument or thought I read them, as evidenced by Ish and AJ and Rob not on my ignore list. There came a time with bb though that every post I read was off the chart idiotic or hateful. That's when I stopped listening. I ignore every new iteration s/he puts up.

This is not unreasonable. In the current context, it's actually somewhat enlightened.I then would suggest that anyone should have access to redact any personal content offered into the greater enterprise. To be able to collect their once offered content and take it elsewhere? We are talking copyright and ownership and fair use and all kinds of murky weirdness. There are a number of once contributors who might just go should they be given access once more to their... copywritten content.

Copyright or no, banned or no, there's a warning in the rules (see below) that it won't be removed just because you want it to. When you register on this site you acquiesce to the requirements of the rules for the site. You post it, it stays, simple as that.

hey... the irony is that i hardly ever report violations; either i don't see them before they've already been dealt with, or i know others have reported them plenty, or they're minor and not worth me saying jack about. when i see something major or really excessive, i will report it.

i guess those complaining the loudest just happen to be those most frequently banned; rather than blaming themselves for posting rule-violating material, they shout and point their silly fingers at me. deflection, i believe it's called.

I'm biased and maybe I idealize him, Comshaw.
Because I harbour a deep scorn for bigotry disguised as PCnness, which I observed plenty in Australia and among some Brits., and which has been used by some as a weapon for attack in this forum.

But you're right. Even I, one of his biggest fans loathe his "N this, orangutans" and other posts. I don't want him gone, he makes me laugh I just want him to tone down that stuff, so that I don't have a moral bind.

I noticed it first when I worked my summer holidays on Canterbury farms. I was lucky to be a bit higher on the pecking order kind of, but Scots and Eastern European workers - not so much. And then they discriminate among themselves, based on accent.
