I doubt it. He wore the skirt on a bet: if Annika Sorenstam outdrove him then he was to wear a skirt on the next hole. I don't think he expected to have to wear the skirt as early as the third hole but then he's a short driver and she hits it a ton. The best part is that Funky, who ranks #197 in driving distance (ave. drive - 270 yds.), beat the pants off Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, and Sorenstam in the skins event. By contrast, Woods finished second in driving distance, with an average of 316.1 yards per measured drive. As they say, it isn't always size that matters.

certainly true: my dad's a 12 handicap and usually beats his buddy who i think is a lower handicap. his buddy's a long hitter; dad's a short game specialist. club selection and quality can help mitigate a bad long game, but ain't nothing but skill gonna help you improve your short game, it seems. :>

When I read that about Fred Funk on Monday, I thought "who the fuck is fred funk?"

Good for him, and also kudos for paying up on his betting debt.

Fred Funk is 49 years old and this year won The Players Championship in March, one of the oldest winners in Tour history. He is known best for his dry wit and his very accurate game.
