best lube for anal sex

Re: This is worth a try-my vote for best lube

I noticed that no one mentioned coconut butter. It is completely healthy, even organic--only pure coconut oil, not one additive (read what's in some of the other stuff on the label). You can buy it in nice 25oz screw lid tubs from Omega Nutrition.

All right! A genuinely unique option.

I'm not sure how it fits into the American Heart Association's recommendation on reducing intake of tropical oils, but it's certainly interesting.

I know this might sound crazy, but as I just read thru the list of lube contenders, I noticed that no one mentioned coconut butter. It is completely healthy, even organic--only pure coconut oil, not one additive (read what's in some of the other stuff on the label). You can buy it in nice 25oz screw lid tubs from Omega Nutrition. There are certainly other suppliers. It has no coconut smell and is completely edible. ;-) Best of all it stays slippery and remember, it is all natural. Also it makes a great body moisturizer and massage oil.

I would say the issue with such organic foodstuffs is that they tend to provide nutrition & happy environments for all sorts of bacteria that would not be healthy
Lots of this would tend to be left inside, carrying, holding, and nourishing who knows what sort of germs
That would be my fear, anyway
I also wonder if it's latex-safe?

I will point out that while coconut oil may be organic and very healthy to eat, it is still an oil. Consequently, all the risks of other oils (canola, vegetable, olive, baby) still apply.

coconut oil - made from coconut
vegetable oil - made from vegetables
olive oil - made from olives
canola oil - made from Canadians (since the name is an abbreviation for Canadian oil)??? No...made from rapeseed, but no one would buy something called "rape oil"
baby oil - made from...uhm...does this really bear thinking about? *shudder*

I assume you don't use baby powder, either...

I've been using ID Glide... but after reading some of these posts I might have to try either Wet Platinum or Astroglide... I love the informative nature of this site :D

I'v used both, I think Wet Platinum lasts longer, but I think Astroglide works much better, though you need to reapply it more often. Astroglide all the way baaaaaby!

astroglide

I bought some this weekend, and I definitely like it better than the ky. *yugh*

The boy, of course, sat down and read the ingredient lists on both, to compare... he is SO strange... Oddly enough, ky warming & astroglide were only two ingredients different - the ky warming has something called acacia honey - which accounts for me thinking it's sticky and slightly scented, which I do NOT like...

I think the time before this that I bought something was wayyy back in the spring, and that was Wet - colt version, or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was a silicone based lube, and it was soooooooooooooooo slippery slippery nice. But the astroglide was nicer & slippier longer than the ky, and no burning feeling at all, hurrah. & my boy liked it, too, so I win.

Might I remind the gentle readers that we're talking about anal use of these oils?

I sincerely doubt that the American Heart Association had ingestion from anal sex in mind when they issued their warnings about fat intake. :D

LOL at least they care. Far too many people with horrid cholesterol these days.

Personally- we use KY Liquid for most things, including anal because its the easiest to get here. THough I imagine I could snag something from a Japanese porn/adult store... hmmm... but have trouble reading the labels... oh well. Live and learn, LOL.

It's thrilling enough to take a chance on those noodle packets I can't read in the Korean grocery store, I don't need to try random liquids on sensitive membranes.

as far as the silicone based lubes go, i talked to an employee in my local sex store and she said to make sure the ladies wash out with something similar to a feminine wash called SUMMERS EVE...i havent tried it, but i can vouge for wet platinum! :)

Here's an update of the summary on p. 3 for those of you just joining us. Astroglide was the big winner with three thumbs up. (Up where, we won't say...) If it's good enough for Mrs. Jetson, it's good enough for me. KY slipped up a few slots, too.

Q: What is the best lube to use when having anal sex with wife?

Brand recommendations:
(7x) Wet Platinum
(6x) Astroglide & Astroglide Gel (1x)
(3x) KY, Wal-mart brand, & KY Liquid
(3x) Slippery Stuff Gel
(2x) Maximus
(2x) Soap
(2x) Spit*
(1x) Anal Eze
(1x) Baby Oil
(1x) Coconut Oil
(1x) ID Glide
(1x) Olive Oil
(1x) SYLK

(* Note: respondents may have answered differently if question was about anal sex w/GF)

General recommendations:
(3x) gel form
(2x) water-based

Concerns expressed:
Putting silicone in the body.
Astroglide reg. dries out too quickly. Gel form is available.
Anesthetic properties of Anal Eze hiding pain warnings.
Oil and condoms / rubber toys don't mix. Can cause health problems if used vaginally.
Silicone-based lubes can break down silicon toys.
Soap/shampoo/conditioner can contain perfumes and other stuff that can irritate the colon.
Natural oils may carry bacteria and such not.
Coconut oil makes you smell like a pina colada when you fart (Sorry, I just made that one up.)

LOL! Not only are you sounding bored again (not that I mind the extra diversion) but you're coming up with absolutely hilarious perspectives that I almost want to test for the sheer humor value.

ALMOST.

What? No Eros Bodyglide? Yes, pricey I know. But considering the fact one only needs to use a few drops, it stays slippery, and never has that tacky, sticky feeling it is well worth the month. Yes, it is a silicone-based lube, manufactured in Germany. However, it works well with everything except silicone toys (which I don't have anyway) and cyberskin (don't have any of those, either). Works with condoms and is non-toxic. There is a concern, as with any silicone-based lube (including Wet Platinum) that if used vaginally a woman should use a femine cleansing product such as Summer's Eve. But I don't use lubes for vaginal anything, so... The ingredients, for those interested, are: Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Cyclomethicone.

Anyway, I tried this just a while ago and am now fully hooked on it!
