Biker's Run..........................

Good morning, everyone.... :)

Lets start by wishing everyone a happy hump day... :)

Halloween is over with for this year and I will take down the decorations tonight. I was really surprised I don't think I got more than 40 kids last night. What did surprise me was how early the started coming around which was like 5 pm. They usually start around 7 pm. They came up until like 9 pm that was my last group. Most weren't wearing any kind of a costume just looking for candy... Hell even I wore a Jason hockey mask yesterday. I had to fill in driving the company truck (International 4700) for the same fella last month. He was on vacation again this week and someone had to cover his route.

Yesterday was a absolutely beautiful day with highs near 70. I'm stuck in the dam truck and everyone else is out riding around on there bikes. Today it is going to get into the low 60's but I have to get the end cap on the house painted. I have it completely scrapped down to bare wood and need to get a coat of oil based primer on it before winter comes in. I still have one last section to do then the place is good for at least 10 years. I am hoping that there will be another couple of freak warm days to get a little more done. It seems that the nice days fall when I'm at work and the rainy days when I'm off. Weather wise it's been a real pain in the ass this year around here.

Well I'm off to get ready to get some painting down. Want to wish everyone a super great day.... :D

....In early this afternoon, but had to go in early as well. We always go in early the day after Halloween, just checkin' all the back roads, makin' sure no one did anything mischiveous...as is usual, we had no problems...i keep tellin' 'em, all the trouble makers have grown up, and this younger generation is too 'sorry' to be out tryin' to cut down trees...lol...
...Been kinda the same here jaded, last few days have been perfect, and i have seen many bikes gettin' in a few last miles, but all thats s'pposed to be changin' in the next day or so. I am hopin' to head outta here this weekend, and go south, but not sure if the ol' woman is gonna make it, she's not too fond of cold....
...No paintin' here, but raked up the leaves the other evenin', and was puttin' away some things, gettin' ready for cold weather, and noticed some trim/baseboard, I stained back in the spring, and have never replaced...looks like i found me a honey-dew job...
...Hope everyone has a great hump day...and the rest of the week passes fast...

...a day ridin' in the rain, is still better then a sunny day at work....

2nd that Snake. Absolutely beautiful riding weather. If only I had a place to go with no freaking traffic around. LOL

Hi Everyone;

Well, it's officially over. My baby has been tucked away for the winter. It's just too bloody cold, and not enough sunshine out there now. One of my friends and I spent an afternoon doing our "winterizing" and you know, I'm feeling pretty darn smarty-pants about the whole thing. I explained to her the differences in our bikes - hers is air cooled, mine is liquid cooled; hers has a carburator, mine is fuel injected; hers has a drive shaft, mine has a chain...and she's had her bike 2 years ! First time for both of us doing the winterizing ourselves, tho. I'm sure her neighbours sat out on their porches laughing at us as we flipped thru our manuals and did everything step by step, I broke a nail, we lost / found screws...friggin Lucy and Ethel, Ladies and Gents.
Now to spend the winter planning rides for next season and buying gear !

Dinny, I'm sorry to hear about your friend -its tough to accept when someone we love passes. Hang in there !

take care - ride safe out there !

Good mornin' everyone,

...Woke up to it bein' a bit cool this mornin', so fired up the ol heater, makes it feel all toasty an warm, hope everyone has a great Thursday....I been wakin' up all nite, thinkin' this was Friday...gawd how I wish...
...Sorry to hear 'bout ya havin' to put your bike away biner, heres hopin' ya have a short winter. Can't imagine livin' any farther north, it gets perty cold ridin' here sometimes, and I sure would hate to miss many days/weeks...
...I can see your point to doc, not even sure I would wanna commute on my bike thru some of the traffic i have been in up north. I kinda like it rite where I am, we got some damn good ridin, and now we even have a wal-mart...lol...altho not many good eatin' places.
...Hope ya got that paintin' done jaded, always hate havin' jobs to do on the weekends, interferes with 'other' things.....
...Did a bit of a ride myself, yesterday afternoon, got off early, cause I went in early, but with this new time change,(which I hate), its dark so soon, ain't time to do much. Probably a good thing, it came a downpour last nite, just before dark, I was in the garage, luckily.
...Heres hopin' everyone has a great finsih to the week....

Hanging in there...

Thanks for the thoughts, Biner. I just keep plugging along. Temps have been below tolerable for the past couple of days, so I've been home bound. But, the forecast for tomorrow looks good.

I actually got my Spring putt Triptik from AAA, this weekend and sent a message to all my CO bros thinking that getting them excited about the Spring was a good thing. I planned a two week 4100 mile putt through CO, NM, AZ, CA, OR, ID, WY ending up back here. Man, I was jazzed. The first reply came back from a so and so saying he could only do ten days...excuse me for breathing, man, but do you want to ride or what? Some people.

Good Mornin' Everyone....

Thank gawd it's Friday...this has been a week to forget, and get up this mornin' to temps in the bottom 20's...Watched a good ballgame last nite, I seldom stay up that late, but this was a perty good game.....Have plans to go away for the weekend, but not sure if thats gonna pan out...my best layed plans always seem to get trashed....Ohh well....
Like the sound of your planned ride dinny...made a big cross-country trip several years ago...would love to come back someday...every state is different, and looks like a post card...
Hope everyone has a great Friday, and it ends up a short/sweet day... ;)

....Nothin like the sun in your face, feet "up" on the cruisers, and rollin' in the twisties.....

I am new to this thread...I ride an 883 custom sportster...it has the nice low frame that works for my girly legs but has had a 1200 kit put in it...bigger tanks lots of chrome...drag pipes...and you know the old saying...loud pipes save lives. I love it for now. It is my first solo bike, was always a passenger before, the divorce changed that...so thought I would see if I liked handling the controls, etc., so I hope to upgrade to a "real" hog in a year or so instead of just riding a piglet....altho I do love her...she is quick and fun. But I get shook to death...she is one vibrating mf....Hopefully in couple of years it will change...if not...at least I am in the wind. I know a lot of harley riders don't consider sportys a harley...but think about how it all began...and you have to start somewhere.

I read back a little...I live in Ohio...and I never "put mine up for the winter"

Ohio has some pretty strange weather, where if you put on your leathers and ride when the sun is out you can have a really nice ride...but...let that sun go down and a girl could freeze her tits off...don't mean to be rude, just truthful...As soon as that sun drops the temps drop anywhere from 20 - 40 degrees...and yes you will freeze your butt off....daytime riding is great tho.

To all the riders here, keep it sunny side up and enjoy the wind in your face!!!!

Welcome Sassy Kat. A biker girl. Just what I love to see.

Nuttin wrong with a sporty. See more and more of them out there these days. Ride an '07 Heritage Softail myself. They mentioned a sporty to me when I was shopping for one but I am 6'6" tall and an old offensive lineman to boot so not to small. I think I would look really goofy on the sporty.

Thank you for the welcome. I had been a back rest for about 13 years, then went 5 years not riding much, just when friends considered me a charity case...so it is good to know I have 2 wheels in the garage ready to go.

Have a good one!

Welcome Sassykat

The last time I checked anything with two wheels qualified you to get in the wind...after 40 years I still don't understand the distinction the hog riders make over sporties...I never heard them grumbling when Harley sold the 125 trailbikes from Italy or the 750 flat trackers that were their racing bread and butter in the 50s and 60s. Welcome!

Oh, and up here in the rockies it ain't the temps that keep you off the road...it's the ice. Crashing sucks!

Cross country

Yeah, Snake...I know what you mean. I used to love to do Death Valley from the coast of CA, talk about changes in elevation and scenery, and the only way you can get across the Sierra is I-80, a couple state highways north of Yosemite or CA 58 through Bakersfield and Mojave, so you can cover a big portion of the state before you get east of the mountains...its been a while for a ride like that. But the wife has a friend whose husband's ambition is to do the AlCan highway, and neither of our wife's will get on the back of our scooters. Man, I'm up for that trip! So this little gaunt through the west is sort of my pre-school for that ride.

Good evening, everyone... :)

This has been a crazy week. I have one more day to get through driving a medium duty truck. I seem to remember why I never wanted to be a truck driver.

Biner I think I will be joining your ranks soon. The morning have been below freezing and then really not warming up much in the day time either. I don't mind a breeze in my face but I want it to be a warm breeze.... :) I am not a hardcore biker.

Welcome to are little thread Sassykat. Please enjoy yourself and have fun. You are always welcome here and always among family. I may have started this thread but it belongs to all of the great people here including yourself. See you have already meet some of the guys, Snake, Doc, and Dinny. OK guys behave yourself.... :D

Dinny, I can't agree with you more. Please don't get me wrong. I love Harley's just can't afford one right now. I am happy to have a bike again after 20 years of not having one. But my two kids had higher priority. Now if I can only find time again. Between the house and the grand kids time is something I don't have much of anymore. But then again my Gold Wing doesn't give me vibration problems. What time I do manage to steal it is one of the best riding bikes I have ever been on.

Now I have been lucky I have never crashed a street bike yet. I have had some pretty hard falls playing in the dirty. But there has been some ice spots on the road around here too...:(

Riders up and ride fast... :)

Got you covered Jade...

That's why I'd didn't buy the Black Hills Special I had my heart set on at Laramie Harley in May. I came back to Boulder and bought the Royal Star Venture dresser instead. My old bones can't take the shakin' anymore, and I'm so old and ugly it don't matter what I ride anyhow. I wanted something that took the bumps out of the road instead of adding 'em back in. It's been a great ride, but I've had a lot of great rides on Harleys (no more rigids, though), BSAs, Triumphs, Hondas, Yamahas, Kawasakis...etc. Way to many falls when I was young and hardtails f**ked up my back big time...live and learn. Ride safe y'all.

....good mornin' everyone,

......Another cold mornin' here, in the western tip of Va, my weather-bug is flashin' that its KOLD, showin' 19 degrees, am sure its probably colder ouside here, on the river. No matter, got a good fire roarin', and will warm up nicely this mornin'.
......Welcome to you sassykat, always great seein' new riders join' our lil' group, and like has been said, ridin' anything, is better then not ridin'...and if i would need to explain that...well ya probably ain't gonna understand... ;)
......Hope ya got all the paintin' finished jaded, I still got several jobs I need to get at, and still ain't even started gradin' our tobacco. Weatherman says it will warm up next week to almost the 70's again, gawd, I wish it would hold off for the weekend. We got a long weekend comin' up anyway.
......Didn't do Calif. at all dinny, we were gonna, but it was so damn hot at the time, we decided to spend a few days in Vegas coolin' off......and lightinin' the load for the return trip... ;) ....We did do yellowstone, bear tooth, back thru Sturgis, etc....like I said, luved the trip, and would like to go back someday, just maybe not in July next time...
......Im up early here, and the coffees hot, hope everyone has a great day, and the sun warms your face...

....didja ever see a motorcycle outside a physciatrist office....I think not....

Good morning, Snake and everyone else.... :)

Well Snake I don't feel so bad now I am reading 21 degrees right now. Are high for the day is supposed to be 45...:(

Snake I've got one more section to do. I am hoping to get that done during the warm(r) weather next week. Next year I want to do a few cook outs for the people on this thread. Get to meet some of the great friends here... :) Don't want to have to think about painting. My lady friend and I thought it would be fun... :D

Dinny I have never owned a Harley Davidson but always wanted to. I just love the sound of a healthy HD. I guess you could call it a fantasy of mine. Even though my kids are grown and married I am still a single Dad. I will always be there as much as I can for them. I have grand kids now which I love dearly. I got a great deal on my Gold Wing Interstate. She is a old time much like me. But it's my 2 wheeler again. With her air suspension the bumps in the road doesn't exist. She is a full dresser and I am planning to spend a lot of time on her next season. The house project will be completed. I can't wait to get some free riding time.

OK, gang I have to get ready for work...:( Wanna wish everyone a super great day. Catcha ya all later... :D

Oh my gawd...

Snake...you crack me up...shrink on a bike??? The secret to Death Valley...or Sturgis in July or Aug is going in the Spring and Fall. The desert flowers are in bloom, and nobody's got time off to be there. The Missus and I went to Stugis in October of '98...we were the only people at the Motorcycle Museum and the curator walked us through. I love the place when you ain't got a half million geegaukers runnin' around.

Yeah, Jade, I love that air suspension, too. The Corbin seat with the backrest helps, too. Better than a recliner sitting in the living room in my book.

My rug rat is going to be thirty in May, and still rudderless in some ways, but I guess I was, too. He'll out grow it someday. He is still pissed at me for divorcing his mother after thirteen years, and we have a bad tradition in my family of holding on to stupidity beyond its useful shelf life.

CCCold

Yes it was 21 degrees here this morning. High of 45 with a nippy windchill. Yes, I was out and about. Our local Harley Owners Group had a thing today. So I went and got chilled quite a bit. Gotta find some money to invest in a leather jacket. WOW.

Supposed to warm up a bit next week though wooo hooo.

Good evening, everyone... :)

Hey Doc we both are in the same temperature zone today... :)

Well my work day has just ended and my week end just started. This was a tough week. My lady friends had a tough one also. I am gonna head over to her place tonight and were going to head out for Asian food. Nether of us are in the mood to cook. Then it will be back to her place for the night. Promised her a nice foot massage. We will then snuggle up on the couch together with a DVD in the player and fall asleep within the hours... ;) It bite the big one to get old...:(

Want to wish everyone a super evening and will catch up with ya some times tomorrow... :D

Well just got home. My lady friend is going over to her sisters this afternoon. I am going to kick back this afternoon with the Oilers and my Giants. Little on the tired side, but tired in a good way... ;)

Hope everyone is enjoying the week end... :D
