...Hello everyone,

....Been a great weekend, cold, but nice none the less. Got a late start outta here Saturday, but went south anyway, didn't get to go where I wanted, was too damn cold to leave early. Did go south of the smokies, then came back thru there today. Had to ride 'bout a mile this mornin' for a good breakfast, but was well worth it, then back to the room, to let it warm a bit, before we headed back home. Did meet a guy on a 'beemer', outta Michigan, Sat. on the way down. He was headin' for the "dragon". Said he had left Fri., and had plans to be back home Tues. Course he had all the 'lectrical clothes....
....Was kinda cold, but nothin' we couldn't stand, wife rode with me, and of course she was all decked out in her leathers, me, I don't use much, gloves, and my goldwing jacket. Stopped at a few shops in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, and broght the new gr-baby some dolls in.
....Went over and checked the cattle when I got in, and had a new calf, while we were gone. I always like 'em like that, no problems, lol
....I didn't mean that a 'shrink' rides a bike dinny, I mean that riders, don't need 'shrinks'..... ...Sounds like you had a great day in the rockies as well, was nice here, but still cool..It is s'pposed to warm up here this week, 'bout into the 70's by Friday, and we have that holiday off....
....Know just what ya mean 'bout gettin' old jaded, it suks, but still beats the alternative... ...Would like to know, who the hell ever said, age was a state of mind...Maybe all those years in the '70's are catchin' up...
....Stopped at a big flea market, I love them, and picked up a few more things, pork-rinds, etc...mostly things that can't be good for me, I like 'em too much.
....Hope everyone has a good start to the workweek, I am gonna be thinkin' 'bout it bein' a short week, and warmin'.....

No matter what you meant. There was a big swap meet at the Boulder County fairgrounds this weekend...ain't seen that many bikes since Stugis. Same with the weather here looks like we're going into a prolonged Fall.

Jump'n on quick to wish all the good people on are little thread a super Monday. I didn't do much yesterday it was a little to chilly for me. I heard we made it to 50 degrees. To cold for this guy.

Dinny I am not really a health food nut but I do try to eat balanced meals and in moderation. Buddy I am 6 ' 2 " tall and at one point (serious drinking days) I was up to 280 lbs. I am now down to 200 lbs. My Dad had a weight problem and it took it's toll on his heart. He had two heart attacks by 50 yo. I took him from 250 lbs down to 180 lbs and he lived to 86 yo. I won't harp on the subject because I know how pissed off I get when someone preaches at me. But dude we don't wanna loose ya...

Well gang off to get ready for work. I hope everyone work week is going to be a good one. Catcha ya all later...

How about them Giants Jaded. They had me scared for just a minute. All my teams were winners this week except for Arkansas State Univ. Can't count that because they were playing Auburn but they did not get totally blown away like they should have so they still impressed me. Razorbacks won, LSU won, on to Sunday New Orleans, Giants, woooo hooo. And dem Bears got knocked off wow. However, worried that might inspire them for next Sunday night against the Giants. Will see. On to tonight and my all time fav the Seahawks.

Man, Jade...when I'm talking cardboard, I'm talking no food. That's been replaced with sixteen little pills. One is blood pressure, two are for cholestrol and the other thirteen are to fight the side affects of the first three. Glad, to be here buddy...and I'll do what ever it takes, or take what ever it does to do so.

You know I discoverd that when crash dieting it only works for a temporary fix. E.G. Crash dieting just before weigh in in the military. LOL.

I now just watch my calories. I have dropped from 340 to 275 in 10 months. Nothing like those Jenny Craig ads or nothing but it is working. I seem to plateau though at 275. That was my High School football playing weight. Any less and dad and coaches bitched me out. Although I came back from basic a lean green fighting machine but within 3 months was back up to playing weight. I am a firm believer that our bodies condition to a certain weight and it is hard to break that barrier other than unaturally starving one self. So I guess not too bad for me. I am not fat by any means. When you are 6'6" tall and you spread that weight out on a big frame I think I look ok for an old guy. LOL. For a guy 20 years or more to be the same weight he was in high school is not too bad. Now I can't run like I could back then and I am sure 4 quarters of playing football would freaking kill me but........

Excellent fall riding day here folks. Not too warm not too cold with a thermal and full fingers on. Nose tip got a little chilly but as long as I don't have to put on that balaclava I think it is ok. Supposed to get even warmer by the end of the week. Supposed to rain on the way home tommorrow evening. YUCK. When I was a kid I rode rain, sleet, hail, just not snow and ice. I was on the bike a lot. Now I guess I am just a wimp. LOL

Iraq

Since we are all friends here, I hope I can speak my mind. Pro War or Anti War I don't care where you stand but lets support out young men and women are giving their all.

These damn IEDs are really pissing me off. If you read back a bit you know I am a Patriot Guard Rider and I read thread after freaking thread. Then I read news story after freaking news story and our heros are falling to these IEDs made by chicken crap terrorists who do not have the balls to stand up and fight for what they believe in cause they know what will happen. I am so sick and tired of hearing about my comrades dying at the hands of these things.

They say everything happens for a reason. I have not had the honor of serving in country. I know 11B, Infantry, and I will get the call one day. However, it just has not happened. Why, who the heck knows. I am not a religious man nor anti religous but I agree that things happen for a reason or do not happen for a reason. Maybe I was not meant to be in war. Probably because I would go ape doo doo on somebody if I witnessed one of these IEDs killing one of my buddies. No one deserves to get beat in jail or anywhere else or worse yet killed. However, can you blame our guys after seeing their friends killed by some chicken crap IED that someone sets off from possibly miles away. Now I am a calm mannored guy and nothing but a big teddy bear but this crap is pissing me off.

All of my friends returning from the sandbox say it is one step from hell. Many are vets that have seen multiple tours in some of the worse forsaken places in the world. They say Iraq is worse than anything they have ever seen. What the heck are we doing there. 3 years now? Lets either pull out the stops and end this thing, which is my preference actually. Or pull out completely and let them do what they have done for millions of years and kill themselves off. Just sit back on a hill somewhere like the chicken IED terorists just to make sure they do not have WOMD or Nukes and let them go at it. Or do what we really should do kick some ass and let someone else sort the crap out. War is like sex either do it right or don't do it at all.

Sorry guys and gals. Hate to be a buzzkill but had to rant somewhere. Just got through reading about an 18 year old mosquito wing private killed by yet another IED.

I have to say - I have friends who are/have been over there, and I couldn't agree more. Either make a decisive move and sort the whole thing out, or get out and let the chips fall where they may.
Nothing is getting resolved and the world is not getting any safer.
And my friends / co-workers are being put in danger as they do the jobs that mean so much to them.

Awe a little political stimulation on the thread...

Actually as much as WE would like to meet these terrorist in a head on one on one situation it's not going to happen. They are very aware that we are technically more advanced therefore more superior. They are simply using a hit and run strategy. This minimizes their fatality's.

I served this country 1965 through 1967. I personally see ground war as the very last resort. I am not saying that we didn't need to retaliate after 911. But I think we could have come up with a better way to handle it.

Terrorism is here to stay. It can only be defeated when ALL countrys decide not to support such actions. There are far to many country out there that hate Americans and it allied country's for that to happen. By cutting and running we are inviting these people to follow us back to are shore. Red China has a major problem obtaining energy to support it's desire for growth. Red China has also tripled the size of it military in the last 5 years with hi tech weapons. Many believe that China has the eye on attacking Taiwan (greater engery capabilities) in the not so distant future. Taiwan is a allied with this country which will draw this country into war. The terrorist will become allied with China and attack this country on are soil.

There is a much greater need for security in this country at the borders of this nation and it's allied nations. Sorry but the borderer's will in fact need to be closed. We are very much aware that there is sleeper cells in this country along with Canada and Mexico. We need to develop a strong first alert system and strength are kill chains. To survive we will need to become more merciless and cold.

I think you will find it very interesting when the armed civilain population of this country resorts to the very same hit and run tactics that the Iraq's use. A highly trained sniper can stop a column of advancing troops dead in the tracks taking out one at a time until he leaves or is taken out.

Who knows the next vehicles we may be ride just may be a striker...

Yes, Jade, I agree. Ground wars are costly in lives and dollars, especially when the friendlies look and dress just like the people you are supposed to be fighting. I served from '71 to '74 and my last tour of duty was a combat support base. The price of not wanting to lose is much greater that the price of not being able to win. As a medic, I saw a lot more gunshot wounds than I hope to ever see in my life again...and the worst, the one that has haunted me all these years was a young man who no longer wanted to carry a gun and took his own life with his M-16. No details are necessary. When you've been in a war, you know what you have to do...for the rest of your life...cause you don't want your children to live with the nightmares and memories of those tragedies, especially in a war with no clearly defined objectives or time table and local nationals are waiting for your bucks to prop up a government that won't last a day after you withdraw... our war as case in point.

PS My wife and I have lost a brother and have a nephew that was permanently disabled in a fire fight in Baghdad. What do you tell the injured, maimed and crippled about staying the course when they come home and find that the best medical care they can expect is from a VA that can't handle the work load of those of us already in the system. We are and have always been cannon fodder for oilmen, capitalist, and other wealthy vampires that thrive on the blood sacrafice of folks they don't know and could care less about. Fin.

But, I've been on this diet for three years and gained twenty pounds. The side effects of the meds are weight gain...they slow the metabolism down to zero. You have nothing but water and your average weight will not change. There are worse things than being 240 at six foot tall, but I honestly think my blood pressure would come down if the damn doctors weren't so willing to push pills rather than try thinking once in a while. Hell, they don't even coordinate the medication with one another by opening the PDR for counter-indications between the pills. So far, this has been the ONLY benefit I got out of being a medic in the service...I can talk to the pharmacist and understand what the f**k these damn pills are doing to me besides killing my liver. If the VA weren't giving them to me, it would cost a fortune for the doctors to kill me. Haha.

Well my friend what I find interesting is that most of those that support the war never served this country. I personally feel that before you can be a elected official you must serve the country you want run. I wonder just how many of these people would continue to support this war if they actually had a round or two bounce off their steel pot...

I personally believe that every man and woman should serve in one branch or another. No exceptions. Most other countries require both sexes serve side by side. I don't understand why certain soldiers (males and females) seem to be stuck in a endless loop and have to return over and over again to Iraq... Many of these soldier have lost their jobs and have finical problems because of the lack of time home.

My friend each day I wake up I hang my dog tags around my neck in support of these great men and women. If wearing those dog tags bring one home safely I will wear them to my death gladly...

I don't know about conscription or compulsory service...it sure the hell didn't work for us.... (Taiwan had that while I was there and those kids never saw any action.) And rich people could still by their kids a deferment or a spot in the National Guard (cause back then they were the last ones called) like a certain well-heeled oil sucking coke monkey politician we all know and love to some greater or lesser degree.

I don't watch the news anymore, I just ride now. My politics consist of helmet laws and loud pipes. My DAV life member card sits in a drawer untouched, and my contact with other vets is at the VA hospital every three to four weeks to follow up for that gift from the USAF thirty plus years ago. I'm a life time friend of Bill W, which means I don't sit down at the American Legion or VFW suckin' suds and reminscing over the one that got away. I still think of the friends I lost and what they would think about all this, who they or their families would be voting for. And with Veterans Day around the corner all this stuff really hits home.

We have Veterans day to honor those that served this country November 11th. At one time it was a National holiday and everyone got off from work that day. It was a paid holiday for many. But now it's just like any other day... I am usually one of the few that remember to start a thread here on Lit to thank those that served this country and those that are serving it now.

The way I see it is it is perfectly fine to hate war. But never hate the male and female warriors that are protecting your freedom. For god sake you'd better not spit on one like you did on me when I walked by ( That really hurt being spit on by a fellow country man. I'll never ever forget that... ) or I'll clean every tooth in your mouth out of your head. Very simple I had to take it then I was under orders not to respond. But I don't have to anymore...

Once a soldier always a soldier. A common bond...

Good morning, gang...

Dinny, New England has had a great deal of rain this year. The water reservoirs have stayed full all year long. It is one of the reasons it put me behind in scraping and repainting the house. Example: I am working today, Friday, and Saturday this week. Today it is supposed to be sunny and near 70 degrees. Friday it is supposed to be sunny in the low 60's. Saturday it is supposed to sunny in the low 60's. Saturday it is supposed to rain for the evening commute home and into Sunday. The exact time I get off work. Do you see a pattern here my friend... I must have pissed someone off... I can't catch a break at all!

Biner I think that with you owning a sport bike and Sassykat owning a sport bike we'll let you chics take the lead. I just want to be behind you two gals enjoy the view of the road ahead... Oh and Biner, Jaded is legendary for other reasons... Being a skilled chef is just another plus skill...

Biner, there's still that trip up the Al-Can highway this other biker was talking about. Of course...I lived in Montana for years, and I don't know if this guy's ever seen black flies or mosquitoes that can pick up your bike and carry it a mile before dropping it. But, I have to do that trip before they nail me in, so plan on seeing me up in your neck of the woods. BTW...Remembrance Day is the same as our Veterans Day, except as Jade pointed out Americans for the most part have become pretty lackadaisical about remembering anything except gas prices and gas bags on the radio.

I truly am sorry to hear about the weather this year, Jade...compared to that we've pretty much had a drought here. Was Laconia rained out? Either way, ride what you can when you can. There's a patch for your vest that says 'Screw housework...Let's ride!'

GREAT day today. If I had any complaints it was too warm to be sitting around in leather all day. Did a PGR mission in support of a POW WOW on George Mason University's campus. As a Native American myself this was an honor among honors. We were the Honor Guard of the Grand Entry. If you are not familiar with Pow Wow the Grand Entry is what kicks off the whole deal.

We rode bikes in (7 of us) were met by a few more members. Took the POW/MIA flag and the US Flag in marched it around the circle with support from a Legion Post made up of all Natives and their Eagle Staff (a native religious peice of regalia). What a rush. Man I am telling you if I was not so freaking tired right now I would be bouncing off the walls still.
