Veterans Day

To all my fellow vets on and off the road, those who went before me and those that go after me, Happy Veterans Day.

It has been a beautiful weekend here in Northern Virginia. The calm before tonight's/tommorrow's storm. I have ridden and ridden.

In honor of this weekend, my rear pegs have been down for those who cannot or will not ride again.

Good morning, one and all... :)

It's a lazy rainy morning here in the little town of Woodbury, CT. I do hope every one is enjoying the holiday weekend so far. This is the official start of my one day weekend. I have to work tomorrow again.

I think I am going to go into the basement this afternoon were it's nice and warm and sand down a pair of rally rims for my van. I picked them up so I than throw my snow tires on them. Getting tired of mounting and dismounting the snow tires each year. Planning on keeping my little conversion van for a while yet. Put a factory remanf'd engine in it last year and a rebuild trans. I like to fish from the ocean shore and my rods are ten foots. Have a problem getting my fish'n gear in a car... :D

I am most definitely going to watch the Giants / Bears game on later this evening. I should be a great game. Although with as many Giants out on the injured list it's gonna be tough.

I am going to be working on my Thanksgiving grocery shopping list while watching the game this evening. I already have my (fresh) turkey ordered through my buddy. He gives me great deals on my meat orders. He sells to the restaurants in the area and there there quality cuts of meats and poultry... ;) I think my lady friends is going to join me this Thanksgiving. I love to cook for friends... :D

However I am planning a nice New England country breakfast for myself this morning of bacon and egg w/ cheese, my very special home fry potatoes, butter milk biscuits w/ lots of unsalted creamy butter, orange juice, and a pot of freshly ground dunkin donuts coffee. Now if that don't clog you blood vessels I don't know what with... ;)

OK, gang it's off to make breakfast and get my day started. Want to wish everyone a super great Sunday. Catcha ya all later... :D

wow, it was a beautiful day here in the valley of the sun. perfect for a ride with the parents. good times.

Oh...man.

38 and snowing in Boulder...needless to say didn't get in a lick of ridin', but my buddy called up and we did do some jammin' in the PM. That made the crumby weather tolerable.

Glad someone had a nice riding day. Nothing but yucky stuff here. Blowing rain and many downright downpours, and cold. Still a good chance of rain remains tommorrow. However, supposed to clear up and be a bit cooler than it has been on Tue.

Good morning, everyone... :)

It rained hard yesterday, it is going to rain today, it is supposed to rain Tuesday, and supposed to rain Sunday... :( When will it ever end...

Ender3 looks like you are the only one that had a good day yesterday. Doc you and I had it better than Dinny. I had a couple of broken branches in the yard which I picked up. But, I didn't have to break out the shovel yet... ;)

Ok, ever body time for me to start getting ready for work. Want to wish everyone a super great Monday. Try to stay warm and dry... :D

Bummer

Weather Channel says its going to stay gloomy and in the 40s till Thursday. You can bet yer ass I'll be the first one out on the street Thursday though.

Good morning, everyone.... :)

It's Tuesday and my day off so there for it most be rainy and foggy... I guess it's a good day to get some house work done. This way I can spend more time in the kitchen doing a little pre Thanksgiving food preperation... ;) To a good chef he can show his skills. I have a 22 lb fresh gourmet Jandell turkey on order with my meat guy. I'll pick that up on Tuesday evening. Not sure who is showing up yet. Probably won't see my grand son until that week end.

We're supposed to get a bit of a break Wednesday afternoon here to Dinny from the rain but I am while be at work so it doesn't matter to me...

Well I need to get my day going. Wanted to wish one and all a great Tuesday. Stay warm and dry. Catcha ya all later... :D

...Up early on this Thursday mornin', waitin' on my gr-daughter to wake, always try to feed her first thing in the day. Rained all day here yesterday, and I can still here it pourin' down out there this mornin.
...Friday for me, gotta go to the tooth dr. tomorrow, and even thinkin' of callin' in today, been in the 'baccor barn, and sure would look a lot better with a good long day pullin'.
...s'pposed to be turnin' cooler, and maybe even some snow flurries, gawd i hate the sound of that.
...Got in a nice ride last Friday, was just to damn nice to work, and saw several out takin' advantage. Heres hopin' everyone has a great Thursday, and its nice, wherever ya are...

Ride safe, but ride....

Well...better days are here...

...According to the Weather Channel, but its that time of the year when their batting average falls off significantly. Right now it ain't looking too good. In Montana, I used to have a theory that the weather people had to have other jobs to make it 'cause they were so far off 99 percent of the time, they couldn't be getting paid for their weather reports. Course if we were in Austrailia right now, the riding would be just about perfect.

BAD day today. Although I could have probably squeezed to work between rain showers she stayed parked. We had wind, tornado watches, torrential downpours, all the bikers friends. However, it cleared by 5 PM and is supposed to be clear, a bit cooler, but still nice for the next 10 days. Thinking of headed to the Shanendoah Parkway this weekend. My goal was to have 1000 miles before I went home for Christmas and stored the bike while I was gone. Got a LOOOOONG way to go!

Good morning, Snake, Dinny, and Doc.

The last two days were crazy ones. Yesterday was beautiful and I was getting the breakfast dishes washed then I was going to go riding... :) Son of a bitch don't you know the big boss called and asked if I could bail him out that he needed me at work...:( It's not nice to turn down MR. Big! However it is nice to know that he knows who to call when something HAS TO GET DONE... :)

Today I have to do some grocery shopping and running around.

Good news is that I have been approved for my VA benefits... :D It's a great feeling to have medical coverage just in case something does happen.

I am hoping to get a day free to get that one last ride of the season in. Yep winter is coming. I hate that word "winter..."

OK my friends have yourself a great weekend. Looks like the girls deserted us.
Stay warm and dry... :D

...G-evenin' everyone...

...Would have been a nice day to ride here, in the western tip of the old dominion. But me and the misses, took the gr-daughter out, shoppin'...gettin' pics with santa...etc, etc....we did have a great day...Much as i luv to ride, it couldn't have touched today... :)
...Congrats on gettin' your benefits jade, hope ya never need 'em, but am sure it will put your mind at ease...Plus all the extra money ya are makin', pullin' those extra shifts, will come in handy for Christmas...
...I did ride to the dentist yesterday, early, was still in the 30's when I left home, but was well worth it. Was kinda cloudy/dreary, but I always enjoy all the strange looks ya get, when out ridin' in cold weather...I thought it felt cooler comin' home, altho the temps said otherwise.
...Been hearin' since last week, late, and even more comin' home this evenin, that dang weatherman has started usin' 4-letter words...snow... ...that makes extra money for me, but also means nite-shift, and I ain't too fond of that..
...Hope everyone has a great weekend, whats left of it anyway, and the bad weather stays clear of ya'll...

....Been askin' santa for a new goldwing, but 'fraid I been to bad a boy this year... ...lol...

...Ride safe, but ride...

Yup! I know exactly what you mean...

Congrats, Jade, welcome to the wonderful world of the best funded and underserved medical community in the country. I finally got an appointment with my primary care giver in the mail after waiting two weeks, on Jan. 26th... its a good thing I ain't having a heart attack!

Sorry to hear about the weather Snake. I'm also sorry to report that the last two days have been gorgeous riding weather here on the front range and I didn't get out in the wind once. I took a '77 Dodge 1-ton van conversion in trade for my old '80 Yamaha XS 1100. The van had been parked for six years so you already know the story. I had to rebuild the rolling chassie front to back, replaced the radiator and water pump, then I had to get the drive train working. It drives but isn't very efficient right now, the tranny shifts too fast into third and won't downshift on a grade, so there's still a lot of work to do. At some point in the distant past, someone busted the plastic roof vent, and the interior wood structures, sink counters, carpeting and mounting boards all need to be removed. So that's my project and I've spent the last two days gutting about half of the interior. Still have to pull up the old carpet and the board its mounted on.

Good Morning everyone...

Woke up to a wet mornin' here in the western tip of Va...weatherman may get it rite, should it turn off cold later...
...Have done that before dinny, refurbish an ol' vehicle, takes a lot of work, and patience, oh, and usually a lot of money..has been years, and not somethin' I have missed...Sounds like ya have already got a lot of time/money invested...but we all need a hobby...know what they say 'bout idle hands.... ;) ....Good luck with your project...
...Glad to hear your weather has been nice, even if ya haven't been able to get out and take advantage...Hopin' to get some more 'baccor graded today...need to be done before christmas...baby needs new shoes...among many other things..
...Heres hopin' everyone has a great sunday, the weather is nice, and the warm sun, shines down on ya...

...Ride safe, but ride...

Good morning, everyone... :)

It is going to be a nice but chilly day here in the small town of Woodbury, CT. Waiting for it to warm up a little more then I have to work on the house some more. Running out of time and good weather.

Snake it's good to see you still have some good riding weather. It seems I'm out of sync with mother nature. When I have off it is raining most of the time. I doesn't give me much time to work on the house either. But once the place is done I'll have lots of me time. As far as working the extra shifts my honey is in the retail business and she is putting in lots of extra hours too. But she is salaried and she doesn't get the overtime which sucks for her. So I might as well work we don't have much play time together recently. She is coming over for Thanksgiving. But has to be at work on Friday at 5:30 am. She is exhausted...:( I have been trying to help out by at least cooking for her so she has a decent meal.

Dinny good luck on the Dodge conversion van. I had a GMC Safari conversion van given to me. I liked it because of it's size great vehicle for my fish'n gear. Plus my 83 Dodge pick up was dying a slow death at 350,000 miles. I sold it to a guy for $600 and he has been driving it for two years now! Problem was it need work too. Biggest repair was it needed a engine. I was still working in the automotive field and had buddys watching for a engine for me. Finally found a 4.3 GM reman'd target master motor with 18,000 miles. Found out the history on the vehicle (it was broad sided between the cab and bed of the pick up and totaled). Bought the complete engine for $700.00 and put it in the van. About 6 months later the torque converter in the transmission let go and had to drop the trans. It still has a few minor thinks that need to be repaired. But it is running great right now. I didn't want car payments to deal with when retiring. It was still a lot cheaper than a new vehicle. He in Connecticut we have what is know as personal property tax. Your taxed on the blue book value of your vehicle. The newer your vehicle the more taxes you pay. Welcome to Connecticut the highest taxed state in America... Useless politicans... Look at it as something to do. My honey has the new car. I don't need a new one myself... ;) I'd rather have my bike.

Well gang I have to let my kids know that I finally got my VA benefits. Then get my day started. Want to wish everyone a super great Sunday. Stay warm and stay dry. Haven't heard that dam "S" word being used in this area yet. The way I look at it is anything I don't have to shovel I like... :D

"Riders up and ride safe... :) "

Thanks for the support, guys...

I fully understand what you said about taxes Jade...that's part of the reason I left California after twenty-five years...it just cost to much to breath the air. I love the fact that the registration on this van was $2.22...that was before you added in the $25.00 charge for disabled vet plates for Colorado. Hey, the additional charge goes to a good cause...the environment and open space and I can get behind that.

Good luck with the shopping, Snake! I haven't started yet.

Weather is cold and drizzly today. Yuck.

Tommorrow I am taking a half day to do a PGR mission at Arlington. One of my Native Yakima brother will be laid to his final resting place after a Yakima send off in Washington state over the weekend.
