No, no, no. That's not what I meant, bro. It's a ME problem, and I don't want you taking anything negative away from it. I was not trying to be critical or judgmental or anything, I just got hooked into my past (please see previous reply to NormalJean). I was all emotional because of packing up a house I've been in since the fifties. It's not you, it's not the content, it's not any of that...you are who you are, and I dig that...wish I had the emotional freedom you do...I just don't. But as I said last eve, being a Unitarian means allowing you as much freedom as I expect for myself. DO NOT change your tone or your content because I am here. I appreciate difference, and relish them. I am learning stuff from you and BJ that I knew nothing about before I got here. If you take it away, you change what this place is. And then I'll feel guilty about THAT, too. I was raised an Orthodox Jew. I have too much guilt already. Please don't change...I can't go to the other boards, and if you go, I'll never learn. When I stop learning, I die...

I can't, Anschul. I just can't. That's not how my world works. I won't mind the references and won't scrub my conversation of it entirely, but I will NOT go into any sort of detail or actually converse openly about it. I'm pretty sure that Smitty and Bijou will understand why I am saying this and agree.

See, I didn't jump right in to this thread talking a lot about what I do. I admitted to it, referred to it, and didn't hide it, but I also didn't discuss it. I didn't do that until I had a feel for the room, as it were, and felt comfortable that the folks here would not be aversely affected. I included a little more here and there and got no complaints. Consent, basically. No, I did not ask openly like I would in actual scene, but I was still cautious because I did not know how it would be taken.

Now I have someone that I really like and respect avoiding replies for a few days and getting physically ill. Consent has been revoked. You don't continue to do what I do in a situation like that. It's just not cool with the self-imposed rules that I/we operate under.

Don't sweat it, man. Honestly. I have a whole board just a few clicks over to talk about this stuff.

Please allow me the freedom to not hurt you. I don't *need* to talk BDSM here. You do need to not be made ill, and I would rather keep unnecessary detail out of my speech than have a chilling effect on your posting habits.

*hugs*

Good morning, all!

btw, Champ, thanks for that like link you posted last night.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Woah! I call mine Mr Water Pic (yes, they make shower heads) and he definitely makes bathing more fun.

I was absent for the discussion, yesterday. I can't imagine my life without the chance to contribute a bit of comfort to my fellow travellers. You all move me deeply. I don't know for certain if I am an empath, perhaps I have some traits that allow me to feel strong vibrations of emotive energy but I am blessed that I am able to feel for someone else without allowing their emotions to overwhelm me. When I was little I did and I guess through the years I learned how to survive my heart.

I can't bear being near places with strong historic vibrations without some kind of release (usually tears).

When we lived in Germany, we discussed an excursion to a concentration camp. I had read a bit of history on them and I begged my family to avoid it. I couldn't bear the thought of being in a place of such psychic negativity although I'm not sure how I got that across. Thankfully, they decided not to put me through it.

There are places in the world I won't be able to visit in my life without a strong emotional response. I have cried at the top of Lake Louise, I have cried at my nation's war memorial, and wept when I walked the same hallways as Marie Antionette. Music, art and poetry evoke tears. They are not anything I deny, I weep gladly and openly (even though I am an ugly weeper) since I count them a tribute to something monumental. I can no more stop them than I can stop breathing...

what an amazing article! Thanks Carrie.

I just told Ange the other night i was a hermit sometimes, and maybe that explains it somewhat.

I gotta get some sleep tonight. I have been staying up late all week watching the DVD's of first season Millennium my girlie gave me and that in itself has drained me, but I love that macabre stuff as an escape sometimes. poor ol Frank Black, he really got the short straw when it comes to empathy.

sweet dreams y'all
Good morning, all!

You both are welcome as is anyone who stumbles in and maybe makes a connection with the reverend. I think I may look a bit closer at a retreat.

Homb sweetheart you can't please all of the people all of the time but I have found what you have been putting into this thread has helped me and I shall miss it a lot ... I don't hang out in the BDSM and probably shan't want to in the future but as I said I shall miss it like hell in here (sorry Cheffy) but it helped me through a bad patch more than anyone will ever know.So what do I do just go without I suppose.
I am like you Champ certain places make me feel really deeply and I refuse to go the Normandy beaches. A while back I was taken to a beauty spot and it stopped me dead in my tracks turns out there had been a murder there and I couldn't leave fast enough

I avoided those as well when we were in Germany. Hell, the whole country, and much of the rest of Europe, had that weight of history. That was literally the phrase I used as we got off the plane on the second tour there. The first I was a baby, but the second time around I was about 12 or so when we arrived. I told my mother that I felt like the weight of history was pressing down on my head and shoulders. She looked at me like I was nuts. I still remember that moment with odd clarity, as well as that sensation and the feelings it inspired. I wanted to get back on the plane and hide, and yet wanted to figure it out and explore. Confusing moment for me.

I don't plan to scrub my content entirely, just not go into detail. The only people what I want to cause pain for are those who have asked me for it. Chef is a good man with a beautiful heart, and I no more want to cause him pain than I do my own children. So it's not self-editing so much as it is choosing to discuss certain things in other places.

I will still answer questions if asked, just don't plan to expound as I did recently.

This whole disucssion is really wierding me out, as it is bringing back a whole lot of things that happened in my life but that I never connected. It also causes me to look at certain behaviours of mine and really wonder. I would go more into it, but, well, I'm just a little too wierded out. and I have had quite enough emotional nudity recently. If anyone wishes to discuss it, feel free to PM me.

No, I'm not wanting people to stop. I'm really wanting this discussion to continue very much. I am just not really able to contribute the serious thoughts I've got right now because they've jumbled up. I am not frightened or disturbed by the memories I'm thinking of, just really sitting with mouth agape and putting two and two together.

And really wondering why my analytical, pattern-finding brain didn't connect all of this shit together previously...

ETA: Probably because I'm a raging skeptic. Duh.

Stop. Please. Honestly, it's cool. Really. You are a friend. I do not want to cause pain. I do not feel forced to do this.

You said that you wanted to allow me the freedom to continue. I am choosing to use that freedom to pull back on my dialogue a bit. It's a compromise, okay?

Seriously, it's cool, Chef. I went too far, and was questioning myself as I did it. I was right to question, and you were well within the bounds to comment. I am honestly not offended, I just feel bad for crossing the line. Unfortunately, I do that a lot...

Don't think it was you it was me

It was me. Me! ME!!

It is ALL about ME!

Oh, ahem, sorry, I was having a bijou moment there.

 to bijou, who will forgive me for picking on her in the name of levity.

We could all have a Spartacus momnet.

Noooo. It was me!! I'm Spartacus!

Nooo. I'm Spartacus

No, I'm Spartacus!

No, I'm Spartacus!

I am totally Spartacus. Look, I'm even male, and, unlike some Spartaci, I have a real British accent. Er, Roman accent.

*hums the Men In Tights song*

Hmm, but do you have the chin? Spartacus is all about the chin, well and the hands, and the legs and the lack of clothing and the whips...

What was I talking about? I have confused myself. I can't think straight when it comes to Spartacus.

I think my all time lust/slash jealous moment of my life is of the moment when Spartacus gets sent into the dungeon room with the slave girl and the guards are watching. It's supposed to be all bad and awkward ...not so much in my mind.

I have quite a serious chin. Hands? Check. Legs? Check. Whip? Check. Lack of clothes? Sorry, no, I am clothed.

I apparently need to rewatch this movie.

Oh yeah. It's not what happens in the movie though, it's what happens in my brain.

My brain is almost always rated NC 17.
