Blurt Thread III - Emporium of Unexpected Exclamations & Revelations

Christ on a Triscuit! I just fell outta my chair.

Not as often as I used to, or should.

I took a wee blow to the senses and lost my way some. Went walkabout.

Perhaps it is time to start the reunion tour, play a few more gigs here.

You could be the Tennille to my Captain, the Cher to my Bono.

Come fire walk with me?
I thought I saw you out on walkabout. I waved and blew you a kiss.

Let me get my fireproof stripper heels. . .

I will admit to having had both a Toni Tennille and a Dorothy Hamill haircut when I was a young girl.

Darling honey, didn't we all? Of course since I've never had gorgeous sleek straight hair, I just had a big curly mop no matter what the cut was supposed to look like.

This fills me with colossal joy, unequalled to the other two times this has been said to me, combined.

You really have no idea just how pleased I am to have been here while you, with little fanfare, slipped in the door.

*fist pumps*

Sweet talker

Doing hard things today. Giving myself permission to admit how difficult things have been, and deciding to get help for me and the kids. Also, confronting the ex about an issue long overdue to be dealt with, and standing firm in the storm of his wrath.

The result of facing my dragons? A peaceful feeling that carries me through the day, and a sense of acheivement with which i am unfamiliar. It's new, but it's nice. :)

confrontation can be daunting, and scary, but very necessary sometimes.
hope the peaceful feeling endures. :)

Awesome! Be strong and believe in yourself. :rose:

Job fair today!

I haven't worked outside the home in seventeen years.

More than a little nervous.

Some things have changed, but having a solid work ethic, a good mind, and reliability are all still highly valued. These traits will all help you.

Remember that finding a job is a process. Write down who you talk to at the fair. Learn as much as you can about what they make or do. Then, go research those companies online and find out everything you can. When you eventually get the interview, you should be able to tell them everything about their company and why you are a good fit.

Let potential employers know that you are open to getting new skills by attending classes or training.

Finally, don't look at your 'stay at home career' as a liability. Show pride in what you've accomplished. Don't get discouraged if the first few contacts don't pan out.

Hope the fair goes well. Good luck!

Can I use you as a reference? :D

Honestly, I'm a little excited. I love working with the public, there's just not much available in my small town. I'm hoping to get on with a chain store and then transfer to a larger town where i will have more options. I'd really like to work in menswear. Not even kidding.

Thank you!

I did a lot of work in customer service when I was younger and I am comfortable selling my strengths to a potential employer. Must admit that I am (rather selfishly) worried about not being able to find a job that challenges me, but at this point, I just need a steady paycheck.

Get my foot in the door, get settled, and start paying bills. That's my short-term goal. I can find something I like better later on, right?

Paying bills is always good :) Keep your sights high if you can as time goes by. For a lot of people, finding something better never seems to happen.

Good luck with the job hunt!

EMPLOYER: How did you meet Ms. Honey?

MWY: It's classified, and as I'd rather not kill you with this very special set of skills that I have, let's just say that we met on a random online porn discussion board and no one will get hurt.

I'm not sure if I would be the best choice for this role in your life. :D
