Hey all, its late, but I just got home from LOTR...
Well, it was my frist day at my new job today, AIDS research at UC Davis Medical Center Sacramento.. and it went well! I think Im going to like it here. Now if I can just get use to the weather in Sacramento and meet some people to hang out with!

Before Glastnost, the USSR went out of its way to prove its superiority in all endeavors including meteorology.
They sent their best prognosticator, Ruddie Sergay Ivanovich Popov, to the USA to do a little showing off.
He studied our charts and predicted heavy precipitation in Death Valley at 1:00pm, July 4th.
That was over three months away and in the middle of the hottest desert in the US in the middle of the summer.
On the appointed day, standing in Death Valley with news reporters, one woman asked what he would do when he was proven wrong. If he would ask for asylum rather than go home disgraced.
"Just you wait." He said. "I'm always correct."
Well it rained and rained. When the woman asked how he had done it Popov just smiled and said.
"Rudolf the Red knows rain, dear!"
