LOL... poor thing... Jasper would eat until he burst if he was allowed to eat just what he wanted... but I try to curb his intake... but its really hard when my parents feed him jellybeans and gumdrops... they seem to think he's a grandchild...

SSK..what do you think of the book? I read The Hours when it came out in 99 I think it was...I loved it....I'm in the middle of re reading it now..and I think I've talked my honey into going to see it with me tomorrow....If the movie lives up to the book, I think it'll be great.

Well EJ I just started it on Friday at work... I keep a book in my desk to read during my breaks.... so I am just about 1/4 the way through it... I figure I will be done by the end of the week...right now it is very interesting... I really want to see the movie now... although I have to admit my first gut reaction to the trailers is .. 'OH OH.... Intellectual Chick Flick coming round the bend'... LOL... I really liked The Pianist... so far that is the best movie I have seen of the Oscar contenders for best picture...

its a day in the life of 3 women cherie... all connected somehow, although I don't know how quite yet... One is the writer Virginina Woolf, who is just starting writting the novel Mrs Dalloway, one is a younger wife and mother in LA in 1949 who is reading Mrs. Dalloway and one present day woman in New York who is nicknamed Mrs. Dalloway... other than the Mrs. Dalloway connection that is all I know so far.. It's beautifully written.. actually lovely to read...

Cherrie Im so pc dum that I havent figured out how to post a pic on here as you have seen lol.. The ones I have online are some of my first eggs (not real great), I have 35 more on my Didital camera, but for some reason I'm having trouble downloading them ..... grrrrrr. I'm not sure what the problem is yet Hub's gotta check it out and see if its the camera or the program or the pc.
SSK and EJ, I carve and decorate real Egg Shells, from Finch to Ostrich Eggs. I carve them with a Dentist Drill...it takes some time and patience for sure...... SSK I think your talking about the Pysanky Eggs, or (Ukrainiun Eggs)?? I have the supplyies to do them I just havent had the time to do them yet....I've been doing this for about 4 years and still consider myself a beginner. Im not brave enuff to show them at the Sacramento or LA Egg Shows, I just need more confidence in myself, I usually go and drool over everyone else's and hope someday to be half as good as they are, I usually buy supplyies and spend way to much money...
Hubby has been to the LA show with me. But Sac I usually go alone, He loves what I do, but just not interested in walking around and chatting with a bunch of women for 3 days lolol..
Hopefully some day soon I can show you all what I do for the love of it as a Hobby (Art) and make some extra money...I hope this tells you something about what I do besides work in out Family Business and am also a part time Medical Assistant.... If you have any more questions, Just ask, Im happy to answer any questions about something I love so dearly....... Muahhhhh have a great dat everyone......

Egg Carving
Hey missy. I do some of the egg carving too when I have time. I'm not good enough to do anything smaller than emu eggs though. Are you using an actual dentists drill or do you have a paragraver? I've got a paragrave and I absolutely love it. My next project when I have time is making a couple planters from ostrich eggs.

Well, Im back today. DSL is still slow, but since they're quitting the business (directv dsl), they're not bothering to keep up the high speed end. My guess is that we're all trucking along like on dialup modems, while they sell off the high speed equipment. They're pulling the plug on Feb 28th. Hopefully, I'll be switched over to Verizon by then, otherwise I'll be screwed and not in the good way.
SSK, I respectfully disagree about Chicago. I think it is the best film of the year (which is still a young year). But then again, if you didn't like Caberet or Moulin Rouge (which I totally loved), then you're not likely to love Chicago. I did find out that the story is based upon a real murder, however and that makes it all the more enjoyable to me.
We do agree about Road to Perdition. I loved that movie too, but it was released too early in the year to garner the nominations it deserved. The wife wants to see The Hours. I probably will tag along, but I'm not much interested in it. Quite a few movies, we wait until our brother in law gets the DVD and then see it at his house for free. That's probably what will happen with the comicbook stories and with most of the other summer fluff fair.
However, both of us plan on seeing Shanghai Knights. We just so totally love Jackie Chan flicks. He is who I go to see for laughs. I just know I'm going to totally relax and just spend a most enjoyable time watching him and Owen Wilson put on their show. Now, his fluff is what I like.
Also, I think we're going to see the Queen Latifah/Steve Martin flick. That too is for laughs. True, Steve Martin is best taken in small doses, but sometimes he's just right for a bit of frivolity. I think I see too many heavy duty somber thought provoking movies. Sometimes I just gotta cut loose and lighten up.
Missy, do post your egg pics. If you are having trouble downloading the pics to the computer, replace the battery. It seems that digicams eat batteries. They look like they're working, but they aren't. I don't know. I have terrible luck with my piece of junk digicam. But do post some pics. You can always go to Kinko's and have them do it for you. They will make you a CD and you can then upload them here.
Cherrie. I'm still trying to get to the over 40 thread to read your posts. It might not be before tomorrow. I'm about at my frustration limit with this computer and probably going to log off for awhile.

I love Caberet.... never saw Moulin Rouge.... I just didn't like the way they staged Chicago... too many close ups destroyed the wonderful Bob Fosse choreography... In my opinion.. seeing it on stage was wonderful, but the movie left me cold...
But I am hard on movies....very rarely pleased...
The Pianist was the best of all the nominees I have seen so far... In fact one of the best movies I have ever seen.. I saw it about a month ago and certain scenes are still haunting me... It is a very different Holocaust film, from the ones we have seen in the past... the main character is not conventionally heroic...he saves no one but himself... he is just a man, who through contacts garned through his talent and much incredible luck survives the holocaust and the audience sees the holocaust in Warsaw through his eyes, as an observer of the turmoil around him... there is little if any moralizing and very little sentimentality, it just enfolds in front of you.... in all the numbing horror.... which made it very powerfulm effective....more so than Schindlers List... Certainily not the movie for everyone... but if you really want something to chew after you leave the theater it is well worth the price of admission...
Gangs of New York was good, uneven and not the best Scorcese film... But not the best Scorcese is still much better than most out there...Daniel Day Lewis was over the top in an over the top role... I think the main problem was Leonardo Di Caprio, who was bland and no match for the charisma of Daniel Day Lewis's character.... they needed a stronger leading man... someone with more fire in the belly... but that aside it's a very interesting film... and a wonderful visual treat and recreation of a world that most of never knew much about...

LOTR TT was fun... but long... and it is essentially a long middle of a story... since it has no real begining or end it left me feeling incomplete...

Yes I use an actual Dentist Drill, Ive been thinking about getting a paragraver tho, Ive heard alot of great info about them, How do you like it? The Dentist Drill cuts like butter thru the eggs, I started out using a Dremel, and wow what a difference in the vibration, none at all..I still use the Dremel for alittle other things.....The Ostrish planters sound kewl.. I want to make a Lamp shade out of one when I get some time. lol Dont we all need more hours in the day...... I would also love to see what you have done with the Emu eggs, They are great to work on. I have two scribed now that I need to finish, Hopefully by this weekend I can get to them, right now working on a Pharo Egg jewel box and also a cockatiel egg with an open door on front, not sure what I'm putting inside yet, the Pharo egg has a white dove inside it..
From the Eggers Lists I'm on theyre are alot of people joining the ranks of egg carvers as well as men....Great we have something in common.... Do you have a Dust box that you use?
I'm trying SSK honest.
