there are tons of places to go, I am sure, but being gone as long as I have, I am no help, except to say that I love driving tours. Just get in your car and take her all over. If she sees something she likes, find a place to park and investigate. Then start again. chicago is good for that, I don't remember how SF would be tho...

Good luck

I actually enjoy BART for all everyone complains about it. The public transportation in the Bay Area is tops. I always knew that but never truly appreciated it till I moved to Indiana and had to buy a second car.

We got along fine in San Francisco with one car. I'd ride the bus from the Richmond District down to the Embarcadero and take BART over to Oakland where I worked. It was perfect.

Even if you have to fight the bridges every day, it's preferable to having to have a car to get anywhere, as in Indiana.

Got to stop that line of thinking. Bad karma. Indiana was good for me to experience. Makes me appreciate everything I left behind in San Francisco.

But I get to go home! Yippee skippee!!!!!!!

:rose::heart::rose:

Hurry back before I find another partner in crime! We will see…

Anyhoo, open those gates huh? I don't think we know each other that well for me to be exposing my tender and shaven ass like so. :p

http://citysearch.com is a good place to check out, but see if you can get local S.F. papers (zines) and most of them are online.

Thanks

Thank you catt.....we may actually end up doing exactly that! I will keep you posted. :) Take care.

I could use some good advice...and thought I should go to the experts who live near me. I will soon be hosting my SO for the first time here in CA (see Jenny's "Long Distance" thread for more info).
What I could really use....is all your suggestions for things to do...places to see....foods to eat....in order to get the full experience of San Francisco specifically...and the Bay Area in general. I am looking for the inside scoop...as I do not live in SF (I am in the South Bay)....but I think it should be one of the things that a visitor from out of state comes and sees on their first trip.
Anywho, any little piece of wisdom would be greatly appreciated...and I can even start a new thread if this gets to be too much of a bother.....just let me know. Thank you all very much. Take care.

Hey Smiley - One of our favorite things to do is Union Street. Its got everything. The tourist trap stores, great little restaurants, fun bars.... What we like to do is start at one end of Union Street, try the corner of Union and Fillmore and then walk down Union stopping at every bar for a cocktail and doing some window shopping along the way. I cant remember if we have ever made it or not. Usually we get side tracked along the way from meeting people or stopping for food. But its a great way to waste the day.... And you do get wasted thats for sure...

Oh, yes, what a wonderful way to learn a great part of the city. Though I've never done the bar thing, I've wandered amongst the shops of Union Street on many a Saturday.

Also try Chestnut Street in the Marina. The Marina itself is a wonderful place to go. There's always the tourist spots, too: GG Bridge, Coit Tower, Fisherman's Wharf. Go south of Market and check out the Convention Center area.

Oops, too many choices now, I see. Happy deciding!!!! :D

OMG! How could I forget? <smacking forehead>

You've got to take her down Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world. Yes, yes, yes, be sure to do that if nothing else. It's a wonderful experience, IMHO.

I am going down to Market and the Embarcadero in a few hours. I like downtown, but what's nice is there are places that I would like to go around Telegraph Hill. There are so many views and places that are charming and romantic to sleezy and mysterious. Of course the city is not like in it's day, but there are so many places that you can sink into and feel the history and charm of S.F. I like this place called Le Colonial (sp). It's really comfortable and the place glows with a feel like in Casablanca. The food is good (I eat out frequently and live with a great cook) and the crowd is young, but not dot.com young. So many places and what am I doing here posting? Hmmm? Skoot OTV!

Ah, Market and Embarcadero. Love the area. Spent lots of time there in my freelance days. Go south and be sure to check out the Sailing Ship restaurant. Lots of SOMA is fun to explore as well. Lots of great cafes.

For more history, have you checked out the Marina District yet? Lots of history to explore, great old Victorians intermingled with all the activity on the Marina Green as well.

Not fair, o_t_v. I'm so homesick!!!!

You won't be homesick for long and hopefully things will fall into place. Then again, I might be available as a private escort…

Yes, o_t_v, you'll discover parts of the city I've not, and I've been very adventuresome wandering the city over.

Thank you everyone

Really really....thank you very much everyone for your ideas. If anyone thinks of more...let me know. I really appreciate it. Take care all.

What the hell?

What the hell happened? I just posted that reply above...and it put someone else's name on it....and the colors that this web site came in changed color! What the heck is going on?

Trying again....

I am gonna try this again...after clearing my web cache and cookies. If it registers me as Pinklady again...I am gonna have problems.

i'm in the bay area as well.

Thanks for cruising by and it's always nice to know that *others* in the Bay area are discovering Lit or surfacing onto posting. A bit short on time before going out, but the winds here, do kick up a powerful swirl on the evening that is on the cusp of adventures…

Sheesh...I apologize everyone. I have no idea what happened. When I tried to write a post...I entered my screename and password...wrote my post..submitted it...and when it took me back to the main thread screen...I came out as Pinklady! Does anyone know what could have caused this? This is really creeping me out...I am going to try and PM Pinklady to see if something happened.

I dont know what happened...but I apologize for taking up space on the thread to try and figure it out. That was just weird....way weird.

Just to let you know, there is a thread on the BDSM forum about hijacking that addresses the same thing! You may want to check it out. Apparently they are not sure if it is a glitch or interntional.

Really? I shall have to check that out. I think I saw another thread on the general board where the same thing happened to someone else. It just really caught me off guard.

Well....thank you very much, I appreciate the insight. Take care.

Hellooooo CALIFORNIA! :D

Sipping coffee as the light streams through my windows. A perfect day to discover the city or give a show to the neighbors…

Hey OTV

Didn't the rains leave just gorgeous crystal clear blue skies? Supposed to stay this way until Saturday evening and then it will kick up a bit. But when it clears ... what a glorious place to be, and be seen, aaah San Francisco!

Really and what do you plan on doing in S.F. I am still getting use to everything, but I wrote yesterday and was elated to be inspired to write in this city. I just have to find the *ideal* coffee shop to melt into, considering Vesuvio is quite a distance (in relation to walking distance). I feel very welcomed to S.F. and I have yet to trace the lines of my life here…

I feel isnpired to write a fellow Taurus right now…

I saw the rainbow the other day and it was spectacular! I have been so accustomed to the raking NYC skyline I began to lose the appreciation for nature and space. Obviously there are places like Central Park, but there is something about CA that draws me, always has. I can even trace my early sketches as a child and I notice that they were not of D.C. or NYC, but a place in CA that my thoughts did not stroke until ten years ago.
