can't let the best thread on the board slip down to second page!

Hey, saw a commercial on MTV for that movie that AFM or someone mentioned about Asian-Americans--looks very cool. Hope that DC makes it on the list of early-release cities...

Also hoping to check out Cowboy Bebop at the theater sooner or later--that looks pretty good too!

Hey AFM ... thanks for the welcome ... good luck with your self imposed quarantine ...

Nice pics erc25, I would like to see some more if you have any.

Thanks Converge, I'm back home tomorrow.

Although I got a huge party to go to tonight....a friend's birthday, something like 100 ish people going to a big club in London! And nearly all Asian as well I think ;)

Beautiful pics erc, especially the first one :)

SARS

Glad to see you getting out AFM... we decided not to go to public spaces like movies this weekend, as it seems SARS is raging around Beijing these days......

Take care hong, read an article today saying that a chinese health official disputes the government's claims about SARS being under control.

Here's something funny to cheer up everyone!

In Japan, they have replaced the impersonal and unhelpful
Microsoft error messages with Haiku poetry messages. They're used to communicate a timeless message, often achieving a wistful, yearning and powerful insight through
extreme brevity. Here are 16 actual error messages from Japan.

> Cannot be located, but
> Countless more exist.

> Chaos reigns within.
> Reflect, repent, and reboot.

> I am the Blue Screen of Death.

<snip>

LOL--A friend of mine forwarded that list to me back in 1998--supposedly, it was a list of error messages that Sony was going to use for its Japanese-language version of Windows, to follow the long-standing practice of 'Western technology with a Japanese face.';)

I like some of the REAL error messages that programmers used to put into software way back in the 1960s and 1970s...things like "ERROR 99--INSUFFICIENT USER INTELLIGENCE"

:D

Thanks guys. Here are more from the park in the first day. The weather was not pleasant. But the pictures came out pretty nice though.

I had been told that this looks like the Yellow Mountain in Anhui Province in China. Never been there but I would love to go there some day.

This is what we were facing in the trails on that day. Snow, mud and hails. It was slippery, and the edge was about 950 ft from the ground..... that was the longest trail in my life lol

Cool pics, erc...the only U.S. National Park I've visited extensively is Yosemite in California--my family used to go there every summer when I was growing up. Despite the weather, looks like your trip to Mt. Zion was quite scenic...

MercyMia--looks like BLT is going to open next week, but only at a theater in Northern Virginia just outside of DC--not a great location for me to get to, since I have to stick close to home these days. Hope that they expand the distribution, assuming that the film does well...

Hey to all the Asian thread-goers!

This one reminds me of pictures I've seen of the Guilin River (someone correct me if I'm using the wrong name!). The stark contrast between the sheer mountainsides and then the ribbon of river below. Thank you, erc!

RH, how can we support BLT without watching it? I'm not going to be able to see it because it's showing in Houston after I leave. Bah!

I hope it does really well.

Anyone here seen this website?

The Maritess and Superfriends clip always cracks me up, but I never know if it's just a Filipino thing.

Hi Threadies,

I'm getting on the plane in less than 4 hours. If you were traveling to Asia, would you wear one of those face masks the whole flight (for me it will be 3 segments totalling 22 hours)? Put up with the discomfort for added security? A friend yesterday said he thought them useless.

See you from the other side,
Mia

Hey all, lets all hope Mia has a safe flight :)

Quarantine period is over! I've started dating a new girl on a tentative agreement....we're just seeing how things work out, I've only known her for a couple of weeks. She's a couple of years older than me , but she's very nice and hopefully things will go well :)

Very cool, everyone...but why is it that everyone else seems to be having a life except me?;)
