I'm getting on the plane in less than 4 hours. If you were traveling to Asia, would you wear one of those face masks the whole flight (for me it will be 3 segments totalling 22 hours)? Put up with the discomfort for added security? A friend yesterday said he thought them useless.

Hi Threadies

I had a safe trip. It got crazy at Newark Airport because there was a security breach. Everyone had to clear out of the terminal and wait while police (and a HUGE german shepherd) checked the area. Then we all (about a thousand people) had to go through screening AGAIN. Flights were delayed 2 hours.

I decided not to wear the face mask thingies because there was no one near me. I just took lots of vitamin C and echinacea and drank lots of water and juice to beef up my immune system.

So back in the tropics, this orchid is loving the humidity!

Thanks for all your good wishes! I think they worked. Keep your fngers crossed that my lost luggage (with all the books I bought) will be found!!!

Got a busy couple of days coming up with work and asian meets to attend.....also one of my best friends from university is visiting from Canada this week, it'll be great to see him again

Hey Mia glad you have back home safely. Newark? I thought you said you were at Houston.... you had to fly to Newark to get back to Asia?

The weather had been nice in the last few days, now it is back to the rain and almost freezing temperature here again. And I am planning to go to a baseball game tomorrow..... sheesh good timing...

Yes, from TX to NJ--saved money that way, believe it or not!
Came back to Asia via Europe. Crazy, I know, but I got to see the Amsterdam airport for the first time in my life.

I thought of popping out of the airport to visit AFM in London, but I didn't have any Euros on me.

So are you going to post your pictures here, erc? How can you get slides on to the computer?

Being Pinay (Filipina), I tend to take pictures of PEOPLE and not places. But I have a few from this last trip that I can post here without incriminating anyone.

And this last one (so you don't have to fall asleep) is a joke on myself. I was walking towards the store section at the Amsterdam airport and thought I saw a sign (wasn't wearing my glasses) that said SOY CHEESE. Since I can't eat dairy products, I got excited and RAN towards the shop, thinking I could buy some Dutch soy cheese...

I ended up buying a nice Edam for the fam instead. Heh!

Glad you had a good trip--sounds like you went to some interesting places. I've only been to Chicago once, for about 24 hours, and didn't have the chance to do much except eat some amazing deep-dish pizza!

ahh Mia, so happy to see you back in Asia again..... and here I was all excited that I was finally going to see a picture of your elbow.... but I got a wonderful laugh out of the Dutch Soy Cheese

Things are going pretty nutty here about the SARS scare, am actually seeing face masks on the streets now, and my regular taxi was disinfected/stink bombed by the authorities.. and they are going to hit my office tomorrow.... and told me to make myself scarce for a half hour afterwards.. (somebody is making a killing in disinfectants and face masks in this city)...

but all is well and Spring is finally here....
