Canada’s Fading Neighbor, the USA.

In 2024, the United States had the largest economy in the world, with a gross domestic product of just under 29 trillion U.S. dollars. China had the second largest economy, at around 18.5 trillion U.S. dollars.Jan 14, 2025

I hope President Trump will let me have my own unemployed hockey player when he finishes conquering Canada.

So you admit it's a war. Take a bow. Ask Russia how its doing in Ukraine. It'll be the same with this, except it's your dollars and prices that are the casualties.

Oh and give me a good reason why you're starting a war with your closest Allie?

Russia said it appreciates you for being brainless. You've made their job easier.

America first.

for people who are interested in facts, here’s some good data from Bank of Nova Scotia, aguably Canada’s most import - export knowledgable Chartered Bank.

https://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/ab... imports were roughly,-metallic products (7%).

One neat thing: Interstingly, inter-provincial tariffs in canada are higher than international tariffs.

If Canada had inter-provincial free trade, it would instantly make Canada more prosperous.

Lol

So no you can't give any examples. It's just you cheering on your Orange God. Come to Canada, we've taken up a new pastime. Spitting on Americans....

Who is the #1 buyer of US exports?
Canada

The United States is the 2nd largest goods exporter in the world, behind only China. U.S. goods exports to the world totaled $2.1 trillion in 2022, up 17.5 percent ($307.3 billion) from 2021. Canada was the largest purchaser of U.S. goods exports in 2022, accounting for 17.3 percent of total U.S. goods exports.

Those are not my estimates. They are from two economic research firms, Capital Economics and the Peterson Institute respectively.
Will have to read those, but I can't see how a 10 point increase in lumber tariffs won't immediately impact downstream manufacturing/building in a significant way. House prices already rose because of Biden's tariffs on it.

“we’ll build a big beautiful wall… and Mexico will pay for it”

Ha ha ha!

You’ll be paying 50 cents more a gallon for gas.

Canadians will simply switch away from Kraft, Kellogg, Coke , etc.
I've never gone back to Heinz.

What does this have to do with lumber and housing costs?

You're discussing transactional shit as if not having maple syrup is the impact here. We buy a shit ton of lumber from Canada. We do not have adequate supply to replace it in the US.

Lumber is required to build houses.

Downstream production will be impacted.

It's like the idiots who discussed how they can do with coffee when Colombia added tariffs for a short bit. Meanwhile....soybean farmers were checking their savings account.

That’s really odd.
It’s been a topic for decades in Canada.

Interprovincial fees and tariffs help sustain provincial government bloat.

Some of that changed because of Covid…. The 4 most eastern provinces dropped most inter provincial bullshit fees.

The Trump Tariffs will likely result in more inter provincial barriers disappearing… “common enemy”.

And Canadians will simply stop buying American…. Quickly.

Jack Daniels etc will be off the shelves in most of Canada tomorrow.

Trump can’t do the Zero Income Tax Miracle until he puts a Sales Tax ( “tariff”) on everything you buy.

“You’ll have No Income Tax! And Mexico & Canada will Pay for It!”

“Golden Age! (But first, yes, some Pain.)”

Lol
