Welcome to the South

Just wanted to say hello to everybody in SC. Joined Lit a few months back and Im haveing a blast. Also just want to say, Im A Texas transplant to SC, and even thought Texas still has my heart, I Love the carolinas.

We have crossed paths a few times in the last couple of weeks. Welcome home. You just gotta love the South,I grew up in GA and SC, stationed in AL while in the Army. The only time I ever lrft the South was to play ball or go on vacation to somewhere where Souhthern weather was occuring year round!

GG it seems that Des has once again refused our assistance. That lady does like living on the edge. And GG did you see that comment "Come and get me big boy"?? How does she know how big I am? Do you think she knows who I am? She must have seen my full body profile. Doesn't she know all men retain water when they are "backed up"? "Big boy" humph! Much more of that and I'll have to whip out my "D/" badge!

PZ honey, we have tried to be nice and the little lady just does not want to play fair. I do believe she may have gotten too full of herself. We may have to take steps to assure that she is protected from herself. I sure would hate for a flower of the south such as she to run amuck.

I saw the "Come and get me big boy" and I believe she is baiting you. Be strong man, feel your cajones. Well, you know it just occurred to me, maybe the reason you are backed up is because you haven't been feeling your cajones? Could it be?

you can go with us. The kids have to catch the pig and hold it by the hind legs while they sit in a chair (differences based on age) and the adults have to catch it and kiss it. Personally I shall be a spectator only, I draw the line at kissing pigs. I have kissed my share of frogs and that was quite a plenty.

Saturday in the South

Are you going to the pig-a-thon too?
I've never living in Georgia, or South Carolina (just California, Hawaii, North Carolina and Florida) but I've never been to an event that featured a pig. I guess I need to get out more.

to come to the pig-a-thon but other committments prevailed. Another time. Next weekend is the rodeo with goat riding. He's only 4 yrs old, wants to ride a bull but I think I have him convinced that he needs to start with a goat. The poor dog is so patient with him.

Thank you for the compliment NCguy, I also enjoy your posts. I am from here but have lived other places as well. I spent time in California, Texas, Florida and Maryland but like the song says I always had Georgia on my mind so I came back home.

Like the South

I like the south too.
I decided a few years ago to move back closer to the Ocean. I don't go often, and it's 40 miles away, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it.
Did you ever get the issues settled with your Ex?
I know that troubled you.

I wish they were settled but they aren't. Its a control thing. He still wants control and doesn't like that he doesn't have it.

One day it will get straightened out but for now I am trying to protect my son.

You are right, the south does call to you. I'm not far from FL so the beach is a good day trip but I don't go there much, too fair skinned. My freckles just get larger and merge.

Work and things

I'm sorry any of you have to work at all. I have to admit it gets kind of boring some days, but most of the time I'm pretty happy to be retired. My problem is that now that I live in North Carolina I don't know anyone really, except basketball people...and really that can get old hearing some of those coaches whine that are on losing streaks....

I'm a very long term southerner...my definition of a southerner used to be(and still is to some extent) people whose families have lived in the south over 150 years minimum. At least culturally to have your family live through the War of Northern Aggression makes you see things a bit differently.

I've been lucky enough to see enough of the world to get my fill of variety and the various difference in beauty, but I always feel most at home when I'm back in the South(southEAST US...only west to Louisiana...lol). I love it here and when we move again which might be soon and of all places to Chicago, I'll miss it.

I agree with what ya had to say Paul. In fact I spend many a weekend reenacting the war of Northern Aggression (Thats the Civil War, for all ya Northers) It feels great to wear gray and wave the battle flag high, but whats even better is being able to to relive a peace of history and truly understand what it was all about.
