Catfish are harder to identify than bots. There are more of them on Lit than bots. They may not view themselves as catfish....because lying has become so normalized in society. My question...should those that truly don't understand the affects of playing games be held to the same level of criticism as someone that purposely knows? I do hold them to the same level. I think that may be in error. When I look back at my interactions....I overlooked the red flags and didn't simply ask questions that would quickly identify compatibility. If I don't ask....isn't that as much my fault? I think it is more my fault because it is the thing I have control over.

My suggestion to noobs....ask questions of those you interact with. If they avoid answering...and that bothers you...accept it and move on. The reason they are here...on Lit...may not be the reason you are here. That's OK. Lit is big enough for everyone

And I was taking it one step further - saying that it's a general malaise that has infected society & is the cause of a lot of the distrust and anguish that people feel. On the one hand there are liars who do it because they can - on the other hand there are liars who have nefarious reasons to lie, catfishes or scam artists) - on the third hand there are bots who add to this mix and are often used in ways that are not meant for your good, they serve another purpose.

Just let's get back to real people talking to real people, somewhat honestly (nobody is 100%)
 
How many people watch those YT videos where phone scammer companies are taken down or scammed by some vigilante - and watch with glee as it happens?
 
I think most people do not understand the concept of "honesty". I can be 100% honest in my response...and the very next day...or the next week...look back and say what the fuck was i thinking? I was so wrong. This is what I really think. Both times...I was honest...in the moment. 100% honest. Was one honest moment less honest than the other honest moment?

I do my best. I really do. Do you know what it is like having so many voices up there...competing to be heard? Honesty is relative. But behavior is not relative...you see consistency through repeated actions. How an individual reacts with you is simply a single data point. And as much as that single data point may hurt...it really isn't fair to judge a person based solely on that single interaction. Sure...I can use that data point to decide what is appropriate for me. But I really can't use that point for evaluating who that person really is. Lit is much smaller than most want to believe. People talk. Fairly...not fairly. It just is. My second suggestion to noobs...try to remember a person's opinion of another is biased. Rightly. Wrongly. It is still biased. Who I view as a catfish...may 100% be wrong. That doesn't change the hurt they caused me. But was it really directed to hurt me? Or was it avoidance and simply not wanting drama in their life for me thinking the relationship was more than it was?

I really do believe...more people are good than bad. I just see more bad when I am in a bad space. That's my burden to carry. It is my job to get myself out of that space rathervthan to expect someone else to be the reason I get out.

Fuck...my brain hurts....too damn much thinking.
 
Just block them and move on. Reporting them forces them to adapt. You think you can make them leave? Seriously? The less they adapt...the more others see them because they use the same account. People need posting history to make their own decisions

Why would they? It's an anonymous site and anyone here can be any age they want as long as it's 18+. They've not broken any rules. As adults, it's up to us to be aware of these things, avoid, call out. There are plenty of times we "red flag" and warn other members, but banning someone for catfishing (unless they ask for money in a Literotica PM) isn't going to happen.

Posting non consensual intimate pics is criminal offence. So a catfish using someone else’s pictures as their own is not only against Lit’s terms and conditions but also illegal.
And yet Lit still haven’t banned any users reported

Of course it is. But, you mentioned someone posting different ages and that's the conversation we're having. Now you bring up photos. How long ago did you report? Did you report the post to a moderator or report the member to admin? What's your timeline to get results that would satisfy you?

I wasn’t specifically talking about that user but the one that inspired me to start this thread.

I reported them on the 5th November with photographic evidence . They have not been banned or removed. .

I just blocked the whiners instead of those they were complaining about. How well did that work out? I never have to read their drama again. Worked perfectly...exactly how the ignore function should work
