Pawing around a few title ideas, but nothing screaming "purrfect" yet.

So, as in the silent auction story thread, I'll try crowd sourcing it, with me as final judge of what makes my tail get stiff snd my fur stand on end.

Just to recap: Story is headed to Nonhuman. current draft 9830 words. MMC character is my frequent star, the nameless narrator. he is older, at least late middle aged. Retired, widower, lives alone in house. One day he encounters catgirl named Neko. Romance ensues. A level of sweetness to the narrative, but sex is kinky, varied and hopefully hot. Definitely looking to please one-handed readers who have imagination. Just all the usual - male Tab A into catgirl slot B. Foot (paw) fetish leaing to kittie cunnilingus. Tail into male anal. "Dream of dead Wife with catgirl" Lesbian overlapping with male masturbation. Male into Anthro-cat. Happily Ever After once he accepts the love of a catgirl who will always stray.

People who read this stuff are pretty familiar with catgirls, nobody's gonna be surprised. It's explained pretty quickly at the start of the story, so I think sirhugs's current version is pretty good to go, it has the catgirl/stray combo that dominates the genre.

As a reader, if the very word “catgirl” in the title didn’t already suggest a part cat part girl, or even though it does, I still expect the author to make clear pretty quickly in the story what “catgirl” means in their universe. I don’t think using the Description field to do that is necessary.

It's within the first hundred or so words, so it's handled and clarified pretty quickly. Full-on anthro in this case, not human with cat ears and tail and paws. I beta read the story since it's kinda my fault

started my Lit life as a basic LW writer in 2002
-> almost twenty years of branching into other categories, one at a time
-> 2021, decided to try LW again after a lengthy hiatus, but unable to write a conventional LW story, came up with Not Another Loving Wives Tale!, featuring a tentacle monster as the twist. My most commented upon story.
-> 2023, Not Another Tentacle Monster Story, the long awaited(by nobody) sequel to Not Another Loving Wives Tale, because I loved my FMC, developed my comfort level with TMs. First in NonHuman category
-> 2025 Violet Loves her Tentacle Monster, fully immersed in the genre
-> also 2025, Violet Chapter 2, my highest rated story
-> 2026, I Believe in Catgirls, totally @anthrodisiac 's fault.

If I can stretch, so can you.

Not sure which I found more odd when I visited the nonHuman stories index

• that there was not a single catgirl story listed, or referred to anywhere on the page
• that the site recommended nothing but lesbian stories to me in that side list.

Right now, it's not the thought of dying. It's that feeling I get whever I go a week or so with no wIP, and no clearly selecred idea in the bin waiting. eed the feelling back that I get when I look at the screen and see 200 decnt words, and have some idea what happens next.
For someone with three life threatening conditions, two of which might at any random time send me on a one way trip to the hospital, I'm not at this moment as obsessed with dying as I typically am. Though yesteray was a horrid day of depression. Had no motivation to do anything, not even leave my room. Did force myself to go to Walmart. intended to buy myself some fresh cut flowers to cheer up the room, but they were sold out. That kind of day.

It dawns on me as I sit here before dawn that I fear another false start.

Totally get that one, I spent several years not writing out of fear of that (among other things), but I kinda realized that the worst that happens with a false start is that you just don't continue. And it eliminates one option so you have a little bit of a smaller set of options to pick from for your next attempt, until eventually you figure out what it is that does catch your fancy. Maybe you gain a little snippet you like that you can use somewhere else, maybe a character you write turns out to be really good and you use them in a different story, or maybe you end up liking the story more than you ever thought you would (*cough* catgirl *cough*).

Or, to put it another way, if you fear a false start, you never give yourself a chance to find your true start.
