"No laws I'm aware of," Sam shrugged, and Invah nodded.

"Then it's settled. Perhaps I'll finally get to see the town," Invah smiled. "The streets look wide enough in most places."

"You might find yourself cramped with our little cabin. It's barely big enough for Will and I." Fiona said as Invah made the decision that she would come to them. "But we would love to have you there. Will has been itching to meet you properly."

They made plans for the next day before they left Invah to her own devices. Walking back towards Roman and Kennah, Fiona paused and shook her head at the drakes. Roman was lounging on his back, rolling in the thick grass like a dog trying to impress Kennah.

"Beastie." Fiona said as Roman suddenly stopped and stared at her. "I think Roman has a little crush on your drake."

Sam clicked his tongue and Kennah came to him in only a few strides while Roman rose to watch in defeat as Kennah seemed to have eyes only for her new keeper. Sam could only chuckle and climb up on Kennah's back. Even after such a short time, he seemed so natural riding a drake and Kennah had already been well-trained before her arrival in the isles. "Good luck with tha', lad. She's a workin' lady," Sam said to Roman.

"A lot like her master." Fiona said, giving Sam a look as she got back onto Roman's back again, the poor drake rumbling his displeasure. "If only your leg were better, we could chase them both, Roman. Maybe she would be impressed with you then."

"We'll see about that," Sam grinned, committing the challenge to memory as Kennah trotted along ahead without waiting for Roman. She got along with him, but she seemed thoroughly uninterested at this point.

"Well, I can tell you that if you get too far ahead, you won't get a kiss." Fiona called after Sam as Kennah led the way, Roman slinking off after her.

Fiona had never been in love before. It was strange to tease someone the way that she was teasing Sam, but it felt so incredibly good.

Sam looked back and slowed Kennah, letting Roman catch up before they continued on their way. He followed her to drop off Roman as he was getting tired before giving her a ride home with Kennah.

Fiona took the opportunity to hug Sam tightly as they both rode on Kennah on the way back to her house. She knew that he might have to answer questions about their relationship, but she was happy to be with him in that moment.

"You'll come for the meal tomorrow?" Fiona asked as Kennah came to a stop outside of the small cabin. "I would like it if you did. You could bring Heather if you wanted."

"I'll be there, then. An' I'll ask Heather, but I think she'll be busy with Da. 'E promised t'take 'er with 'im t'Aberdeen soon." Kennah knelt down for Fiona to slide from her back more easily, and Sam smiled down at her. "Maybe it's best we 'ave Invah come t'help carry things, then move out t'the loch."

"I'll see you tomorrow then." Fiona said with a soft smile on her face. "I really like spending time with you, Sam. Even if you are stubborn and bullheaded, I do enjoy being with you."

"And even if you're more stubborn than me, I like spendin' time with you too, lass," Sam returned with a smile that seemed to be not so rare anymore when he was around her. He leaned down to press a kiss to her lips, his broad hand touching her cheek lightly. "See you t'morrow, then," he murmured before Kennah carried him away.

Fiona watched him ride away, the feel of his lips lingering with her for a long moment. She was completely in love. She had no idea how that had happened but it had in the most unexpected way.

"Do you like Sam?" Came a voice from behind her that had her spinning around.

Lucy Ghis was sitting on the front step, her dark curls framing her achingly beautiful face. She seemed to be waiting for something and Fiona placed her hands on her hips for a moment.

"What are you doing here?" Fiona asked.

"Waiting for Will. He said that he had something for me." Lucy said with a shrug of her shoulders. "My Dad is off visiting my aunt with Dazu. They said I could come."

Will finally stepped out with a bundle in his arms, pausing when he saw Fiona and looking a little embarrassed. He wasn't up to anything, it was just the typical teenaged boy being caught in the presence of a girl. But he turned to Lucy and gave her the bundle which she would immediately recognize as her cloak which she'd lost a few days before. The wind had been terrible and pulled it right off her shoulders and into the river. It was dry now, and no worse for wear. Will had recognized it by the little patterns Dazu had sewn into the bottom.

"Does your Dad really know?" Fiona asked as Will stepped out of the cabin with a slightly embarrassed look on his face.

"Dazu knows." Lucy said quietly, giving Will a smile as he returned the cloak that she thought she had lost forever. "Thank you."

Fiona chuckled, shaking her head at the two of them. "Alright, you two. Lucy better get on her way before Leon comes looking for you."

Will looked to Lucy. "Do you want me to walk with you? I don't mind if Leon gets mad." It was incredibly clear that he had a crush on Lucy, one that made him willing to risk Leon's wrath.

"Sure." Lucy said with a slight smile on her face, standing with her cloak in her hands.

"Give us a moment to talk." Fiona said with a glance at the young girl, smiling as she nodded and gave them some space. "You know you're my responsibility now, right? I'm not about to see you run through by Leon Ghis. You need to be careful, treat her like a lady, and not sneak around."

"I'm not sneaking around. I asked her to come by to get that cloak. You talk like I'm gonna try to steal her away." Will walked inside with her. "And you have no room to talk anyway what with Sam."

"Sam and I are both grown adults, Will. There's a difference." Fiona said as Will insisted that she had no room to talk. "And I know that Leon is very protective of Lucy. I just want you to be careful. He already has his eye on you."

"I'm almost an adult... Just a few more years," Will muttered under his breath. He hated being so young in a society that, though it considered him a man at fifteen, didn't consider him grown up enough to be any kind of adult until he was almost twenty. If he was lucky, he'd get a little recognition at seventeen.

"And Lucy is even younger. It's cute that you have a crush, Will. I won't tell you that it's wrong or try to dissuade you. All I'm asking is that you be careful. We just got our lives in order." Fiona said, ruffling Will's hair. "Now, go walk her home."

Will wanted to argue more that he understood their situation, but he hurried away to walk Lucy home anyway. That seemed like more fun than trying to prove his maturity to Fiona.

Fiona watched out the front window as Will dashed back out to Lucy. She shook her head, wanting to tell him to slow down even though she knew he was incredibly stubborn. There was no need to grow up too fast. There was an entire lifetime to be grown up and be an adult. There was only a few short years of being a child...that she was painfully aware of.

The next day, the town was abuzz as rumor spread that Invah would be coming into the town itself. And when she showed up in the street outside Fiona's home, there were all kinds of people staring and some following. She lightly tapped on Fiona's door with a single claw, careful not to leave a mark.

"Will!" Fiona called as she heard the tapping on the door. "Get our things together. She's here."

Fiona had dressed that day in a pretty lavender gown, one that Brogan and Julia had bought for her. She was forever grateful for the kindness that they had shown to her, especially when they didn't have to be so kind. She secretly wanted to impress Sam, but she would never speak those words aloud.

Opening the door, she stepped out into the sunlight with a smile. "I should have known that you would attract a crowd."

"I certainly didn't try," Invah sighed with a smile back to the gawkers, the tip of her tail swishing ever so slightly even as she kept it close so not to knock anyone or anything over. "Of course, the last time most of these people heard of a dragon in a town, they were children listening to fairytales about knights slaying dragons."
