Comments That Make Your Day

I've received a lot of nice comments on 3BR, 2BA, 1 Story (about a divorced couple taking the final walkthrough of their house) since it published yesterday, but this one is exactly the type that keeps me wanting to write:

There must be a lot of you out there that can see this as a wake up call. I do. This wonderful tale can help some of us make sure we don’t fall into this type of ending.

It's also the first story I've ever had where the vast majority of commenters in LW are asking for the couple to reconcile, even some of the hardcore BTB folks. You never know which heartstrings you're going to pluck. :)

ETA: bonus one that made me laugh out loud:

You bitch, I did not need to start my Tuesday crying my fucking eyes out. But here I am never the less. 5 stars.

I totally wanted to urge that too, but figured that was falling into the trap of telling the author how the story could be. Plus I figured that you'd hardened your heart to granite in order to write the story, so all appeals would be useless....

It's a fabulous story and deserves the acclaim that it's getting.

Thank you. I’ll be honest, I was tempted, but it just seemed… wrong. Dishonest. I could easily see them being that couple who tries again and ends up getting divorced a second time, but probably not making it long term.

My father has a friend who married one woman three times, another twice, and one only once. So he has six marriages but only three ex-wives. But the last I heard, he was seeing the number three wife (the one he married once) again. Dad expects to be invited to yet another marriage of this 72-year-old man and his 65-year-old ex. Dad said, "No fool like an old fool."

@Djmac1031 has been catching up on some reading, and left this kind note on The Rivals Ch. 04: The Black Tomb:
Been meaning to get back to this; another great adventure, with a cliff hanger ending no less.

I thought i did a slow burn between my two leads in my Jenna series but you're making it an art form lol.

looking forward to the next adventure.
Thank you for reading and commenting!

From @Djmac1031 on Orgy of Death (the final chapter of The Rivals):
Excellent series, my friend, truly fun adventures to read. Interesting you left out the cliché declarations of True Love and Happily Ever After. I'm sure maybe some expect it. I prefer to just think of them continuing as a team, off again on again love / hate relationship lol.

Sligh and Avilia's tale is definitely not told yet. There are still plenty of struggles ahead of them. Like what happens when Sligh's mother shows up...

Thanks for reading and commenting on my series that's one of my proudest achievements!

A very special comment from @Iwatchedher on my Valentine's Day entry.... for context, one of the MCs is a drilling and blasting engineer on a remote Western Australian mine, and I wanted to portray him as a romantic guy who is trying hard to improve himself and convince his long-distance astronaut scientist girlfriend to marry him. So this comment means a lot. Thanks mate.

Yes, BlueFox 007 is right: lovely is the word. Super romantic, and also subtly but surprisingly sexy...And as always, Mr Actingup, your characters are so vividly and appealingly delineated, and your backgrounds are so credibly drawn. As it happens i spent a long summer long ago as a driller and powder monkey in an open cut mine in WA, and was delighted to be reminded of the delights of precision blasting.

Apologies for multiple-posting, but this was also particularly lovely to receive for my Valentine's Day story yesterday as it addresses an area of doubt that I had. This was my first attempt at an epistolary story (it's mostly an exchange of letters, with a couple of brief news articles), and I kept it fairly short to try and spare the reader.

"The format carries so much gentle intimacy, I am almost embarrassed to stumble into it.
It is not the grand gesture but the tender dance of hearts that touch me
Really superbly composed work.

On this story.

I don't know what to make of the comment. Of course, she seemed like a BDSM predator because I wrote her that way. A transgender, lesbian, gay, or bisexual can be anything a straight person can be.

I think you're getting him confused with Jason of the Argo... the man in the boat. Obsessed with the golden fleece, kind of the Hellenic Anonybush.
I wonder whether anyone has ever published a collection of erotica under the title "Omnibush".

As I labor to slowly finish Alistaire's last cycle of stories, I treasure each comment on my old stuff as it trickles in.
This one from our good buddy Anonymous on the final chapter of A Reputation really made my morning wake-up nice:
Perfectly entertained by this little romp. Held my attention completely. Very well done.

This is the first story of yours I have read. I will voraciously attack the rest of your offerings!

@Publius68 re: "This is the first story of yours I have read. I will voraciously attack the rest of your offerings!"

"Voraciously attack" - I'd be red-flagging this reader.

PS 'Last cycle' - what? I'm holding out for his 50th school reunion.

You will wait in vain. Alistaire's college years have ground my output to a standstill as I try to finish this bloated but very fun last cycle.
(It is funny though. There is a 50th reunion mentioned in the story!)
