Comments That Make Your Day

Only implicitly a comment, but one person has just favorited 14 of my stories in two days. He can't possibly have read them all yet (one of them is a novel, another a long novella) but it's quite a compliment.

Wow. Is that motivation to finish more stories I'm feeling?

I love seeing that. Even though it's usually just them adding it to a list, the fact they liked whatever they read enough to then go, "Yeah, full catalogue, please!" is very affirming 😁

I have someone working through my original series, one story at a time. He is putting them on a list called stories read. No idea if he likes them, but he keeps reading the next ones, so I assume so. His last "favorite" was for story 20 of the 21 in the series. Now I'm wondering what else he will read, if anything, of mine.

Yes it's a good feeling. Having someone read your series like that is why we post. To have someone read it.

today is one of those days, when i have some very personal issues and it keeps me mentally low. i hope i find some comments today (whether in LIT or IRL) i will share it here.

You're an awesome human being who shared a picture of a cock-shaped lobster for me to witness. There is no higher praise I can give.

I love this comment for the final part of my Bike trilogy.
It helps me grow as a writer and feel more confident in my work. A reader has changed their mind about a character and really read the story, which means the world to me.

Thank you. I hadn't expected to enjoy the overall story. In earlier chapters I was of the "she's a cheating slut, so divorce" group. But as we all know, there can be many sides to a story. They are at an age that I can relate to, having passed through more than a decade ago. Great insights. So, thanks again. Cheers.

And, for balance, I've just recieved this comment -

Really bad. Just awful characters and plot.

Win some, lose some.

Update on this one. He finished the series last night and then he followed me.

It turned out to be a good series

Seeing those "huge list" guys just makes me scratch my head - what on earth are they doing with all of that classification stuff, all that grouping?

Also, seeing my stories lumped in with another hundred or so means nothing to me. I don't want to be like all the rest.

I far prefer to see someone follow me, or fave a story, and when I go look at their favorites page, it's quite short, not many stories, not many authors. That's when I get curious, go see what else they like. I've found some of my favourite stories that way.

A few nice comments today:

Transplant

I comment not as an author, nor as a punctuation and grammar phone. I have read hundreds of stories on this site and yet this is my first ever comment. Congratulations to you. You wove an interesting thread through your story and took me through a gambit of differing emotions, both good and sad. Many may argue but I feel you ended this story exactly where it should be left. Once again congratulations!

Homeless

2nd time thru: five stars X 2= 10. Background music during investigation: Jack Webb's Dragnet theme, Jack Lord's Hawaii Five O. Wedding: "I hope one day it happens to you, when a miracle smiles up at you- but I loved her first."
thinking of my own daughter now... damn allergies.

Fido

I start laughing now every time my neighbor's dog starts barking during the day.
5 outta 5

Okay, so not a ton of traffic on my song lyrics, but I got a fucking amazing comment on it 😁
Oh that was fun! Seems like the perfect opportunity for another evanescence/linkin park vocal collaboration
Fuck yeah, man 🤘

I feel like that collab would hit different without Chester.
I hear you. I like Emily Armstrong, she's a really good vocalist, but the whole thing feels like a Mike cash-grab. It feels off, and I can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe because Chester was just so singular, so trying to replace that is like doing a brain transplant. The body's still there, but who's home isn't the same.

What a bizarre simile...

Yeah it feels a little... Dirty-Dancing-without-Patrick-Swayze. It could be good, but it's not the same.

I’m only partly through page 2 and this is already a 5 star story. I’ll have to come back to finish reading when i have the energy. Carlos heightening the entire experience is the payoff the other stories teased perfectly. Well done.

This is on my third part of Abigail's ... being Abigail's Adiós For whatever reason, I normally get very few comments, so this makes my day!

Let me say this about that, comments are one thing there are never enough of, unless they are calling me a bitch, whore, cheating cunt. But I don't publish in Loving Wives anymore, so not so much of that these days.

New one on my latest, My Best Bud’s Dad:
...
I guess every dad has had some fleeting fantasies about their daughter’s friends. This story exposed that I felt cringy. That is my hang-up and you were very upfront about the nature of this story. Even though I’m an old pervert in denial, I still enjoyed this story.
Welcome to the club, buddy. Welcome to the club.

I forget sometimes how spoiled I am regarding comments, favorites, etc. since I post mostly in LW, a notoriously high-traffic area of the site. My newest story, Transitional, over in Transgender, has received very little traffic at all and only a few comments, but one made my day, as much for who commented as the contents.

When I started reading LW stories, In Our Bones by norafares was one that made me sit back and go, "Whoa. I hope I can write something this good some day." Today, she posted this on Transitional:

Very cute and steamy little story. I commend you for being an ally, as am I, and not being afraid to honor the trans community. Your talents never cease to amaze me. Never stop writing.

I'm probably going to have a smile on my face for the rest of the day as a result.

Ive had... a rough few weeks. So a nice comment like this helped cheer up an otherwise stressful day.

Left on Part 5 of my series The Jenna Arrangement:

This is seriously one of the best reads here. Definitely top 3. Number one actually in the genre! I think I'm in love...

Kind of a compliment I suppose; he waited until he'd made sure you stuck the landing in the end before committing to following you 😉
I must admit that I have started to follow an author on the basis of the first few, even several, parts of a story and then after a couple more, not only have they stopped posting any more of that story, they have stopped posting entirely, without even changing their profile to say why.
Still following in hope!
