Comments That Make Your Day

Ive had... a rough few weeks. So a nice comment like this helped cheer up an otherwise stressful day.

Left on Part 5 of my series The Jenna Arrangement:

This is seriously one of the best reads here. Definitely top 3. Number one actually in the genre! I think I'm in love...

Okay now they're just stroking my ego.

Not that I'm complaining lol.

I can NOT find the words to say just how extraordinarily brilliant this story is. The author is my hands down favorite now.

Allow thy ego to be stroked, my child.

We all hope for the day we become someone's hands-down favorite.

Not just favorite, but HANDS DOWN favorite - a level of distinction few other achieve!

I'm still new at this (two 2-chapter stories so far) and I've been overwhelmed by the positivity - even the critical comments have been polite and constructive.

I was a bit worried when I decided to move into the anthro space for my second story, but all the comments were great, and this one floored me:
This is the best erotica I ever read and its not even very sexual.
And I'm not a furry.
Incredible, you are.

Hey, this place can always use more anthro stories! Welcome to the pit 😁

We'll take this one for sure, won't we @PennyThompson?
(There are an Oasis gig and song mentioned in the story)

I love redemption. And I love it even more than I despise Oasis, although I used to consider that impossible. But music is subjective, so there are no penalties for your choice of music. The story was exactly what I needed at this time. Thanks.

I'm not sure that anyone hates Oasis more than Oasis fans... perhaps the Gallagher bros themselves 😁

Im not gonna copy and paste the conversation, but I've been chatting via email with the latest fan of my series The Jenna Arrangement after they sent me feedback via the site.

There really is no greater compliment to a writer than to have a reader express how invested they are in both the characters and the story line as the series is progressing for them, and to have them speculating on how things might play out.

it's a reminder of what we always hope to achieve when writing, to create a story that means something, not just to us, but to those who take the time to read it.

This comment from an established poet made my day. This is on my newest work (1297 words) which is a flash fiction and staccato minimalistic free verse fusion Our Saturday Night Ritual

Absolutely stunning in the images it creates. Often I write my comments on poetry form but here that would be an insult to your own words. You capture the scenario so well

For a commernt like thSt, the least you cann do is give us a link.
You asked for it. This is something I wrote a few years ago. The story has some story to it but is so off the wall porno bonkers I look at it, like, wow, what the hell was I thinking? It has cheating wives but I dropped it in fetish because I entered it in Pink Orchid and didn't want the trolls following my story to other people's stories.

I’ve become so blase about comments than if I get one that is overly laudatory I immediately chalk it up to an attempt to get into my virtual knickers.

A great comment on my story 'Ganny and Me'

Here's my evidence of just how much I LOVE this story:
1. I am still in tears 30 minutes after reading it. experiencing an opening of my heart to the universe.
2. This is the very first time in my 6+ decades of life that I have EVER posted an online comment about anything. Ever.
3. I'm reminded of the phrase, "Surprised by Joy," title of a Wordsworth poem and the autobiography of C. S. Lewis. I normally read the stories on this site for some erotic stimulation that is more creative and engaging than the hard core porn sites, but I was truly "surprised by joy" while allowing this story to take me to a deeper spiritual and emotional place than I have experienced before in such a setting.
4. The character development and descriptive writing is so well done that I wish I could actually meet the characters and hang out with them in Paris.
5. The author weaves in lessons in history and mythology without being even slightly pedantic. I love a story that sets me on a quest to learn more about subjects that are new or unfamiliar to me. Well done. 5 great big stars.

About my novel, The Story of Nix, people have been so enthusiastic 😊

Like my learned friend Yuno_Gasai I found this series difficult to put down. I’m not sure that I could say I finished it inside 24 hours, but certainly less than 48.

I’m really at something of a loss for words… I think it’s going to take me a while to process it all, and I feel an urge to go back and reread some (possibly quite a lot) of Dennett’s work that I haven’t looked at for (cough) years first.

And I also think I should read Jane Eyre. I thought I had finished with the Brontë sisters when I left high school, so if you need an indication of just how much your writing here has affected me, well, (I need an emoji of someone waving their arms with an expression, not entirely free of snark, suggesting “Tadaaah!”)

A couple of comments that made my day, but in very different ways. My April Fools' Day tale is designed as a multi-layered thing, including a few little meta-jokes addressed to the reader directly by the narrator. There are relentless mentions of AI, a brief flirtation with the idea that the narrator's love interest might be into bestality, the love interest (Michael) mentioning that they're not meant to talk politics, and so on. But it is meant to be a story with a bit of heart behind the humour.

Anyway, firstly (and amongst others) I really appreciated this comment where the reader has thought about the story and come back the next day to comment - that's very cool and doesn't happen much:

I read this yesterday and had to think about it for a bit. As a lifelong Nerdslinger (as in gun-), I've enjoyed being a fixer of situations other couldn't, just by gathering data. So many powerful parallel memories to revisit and such a delightful tale. I believe we could get by rather nicely without April Fool's day. Although, it is a profound way to "out" bad actors pretending to be good people. Your character development was imaginative. I thoroughly enjoyed your story. Well done! Finn

But secondly, and in a much more shallow way appropriate for April Fools, I enjoyed catching another reader out. One of the little jokes is in the tags, which as we all know can be seen at the top of the story *if* you click on the obscure tag icon (on the right if on a PC). And sometimes we wonder if that's obvious enough, so I put in a test. In the story, our narrator addresses the reader:

I imagine that some of you, dear readers, would like me to discuss here the most important question of the moment: was Michael in fact gay? This would be particularly true if you hadn't bothered checking the tags for the story before you started reading. Those tags are there for a reason, but we'll get there after we talk a bit more about the other issues that were uppermost in my mind.

Here are the story tags at the top:

And sure enough, a reader was unimpressed:

"This would be particularly true if you hadn't bothered checking the tags for the story before you started reading."
FYI as you do not seem to be aware, tags are shown at the END of stories on this site. Most readers start reading at the beginning.

(I tried to write to them to explain, but they don't take DMs. Hindsight, if you're reading, click on the tag icon!)

Pour one out for yet another reader who is rightfully confused by the completely unintuitive UI of Lit. He's definitely not alone.

Oh, totally. But also: don't leave a sarcastic, demeaning comment about something that you don't understand!

I woke up to this in my email box this morning. Badass? I'm not sure I'm deserving of such high accolade, but have to admit, It kinda set a high bar for the rest of my day.

Thank you Britney. I'll try not to let you down.

You are by far my favorite author! You make me feel like im the character in your stories.....I can relate and it doesn't feel like fiction.
Anyway, I know you're very busy, but if it becomes stressful and not fun ever just remember to back off and enjoy you. I know you're a badass I see that in your intelligence and confidence that oozes from your stories.
Thanks for your top shelf part in literotica
Your fan,
Brittney
