Comments That Make Your Day

A comment recently left for my Office Wife story (in the Loving Wives category) has a surprise ending:

I would rate this a one because I hated it. It is in direct opposition to how I think and was not what I expect3d However I hate even more the stupid rating system.
1) The plot is unusual, surprising and shows out of the box thinking; very well put together. That has to be at least a two.
2) A variety of characters that are clearly explained and understood. Worth are least two points.
3) It is well written. A fair person must rate this story a 5.
It's like those reality shows: "I'm sorry but you're going home... To pack your bags for Hollywood!"

Comment #5 of Wrong Twin Rubdown by @djrip ... the story is soo worth a read and then this dude comes in and writes a sequel in a comment that appears to be just two guys about to blow each other in a public toilet. Anon should publish... a star is born!
THAT comment was fucking hilarious read!!! 🤣

That one's been my crowning achievement in terms of comments so far, I'd have to say! Quite the spin-off.

But... just... my mind boggled... [spoiler alert] how did he go from twins sisters sharing a boyfriend to uh i think it was two couples then making out, to the guys talking about blowing each other in a toilet.

When sometimes u don't get a perfect 5* response because you "missed the brief" for what the reader was looking for, and then you see that... yeah: you didn't hit the brief for him. you weren't even in the same solar system

So when I posted the final part of HOT AND FUZZY I was hit with TWO one-bombs on the first day, which dumped my rating and shit on my mood.

But today I got this and it meant a lot…

“So sad that the story of these whacky characters has drawn to a close. It was fun while it lasted. Thank you for sharing with us. 5 stars”

Let’s face it…this is why we do this…isn’t it?

Wow, two stories in LW one has a 4.72 rating and the other 4.61. Maybe we finally exhausted those fucker trolls.

And this (one of three anonymous comments I got today on my various submissions) on COLLECTED PARODY SONGS

“Hey Lube was marvelously well done! The others were quite fine also. Thank you for these hugely entertaining pieces! 5 stars”.

I’d say today has been a positive day.

One is a very well written detective story and the other is a love story between two childhood friends that’s only barely about a LW scenario.

Finally broke down and bought sandals I’d been craving for awhile and within an hour got a nice comment when I wore them out. Told them how expensive they were (such a show off I am) and he said ‘you’re worth it’.

One of my favourites.... Left by anonymous of course. He loves to comment on my stories....

"You suck, you feminazi fuck."
Okay, I gotta read the story now! Which one was it?

Not here to promote my stuff. It was just a comment...
The story wasn't so great...

I got this one as well, which was pretty good.

From the penultimate chapter of my latest series, Guilty Pleasures.
I never thought it possible. Every one of your stories has engaged me in every paragraph.

Then you digressed to a full page business meeting, and you almost, ALMOST made it interesting (a Herculean feat in itself).

[Description of commenter's own misery with meetings]

I applaud you for trying to pump life into soul deadening tedium. You probably came closer than most writers could.

I dread reading the last chapter. THAT is the greatest compliment any writer can receive.
He's a regular commenter, and is so far the only person to complain about that meeting (besides Our Hero himself). And it is in the form of compliment. Sorry, sometimes Life needs meetings, and sometime stories need them to set up finales.

And as for his last comment... I happily agree.

Same commenter as my prior post, responding to the entry two chapters earlier in Guilty Pleasures:
Wow. This blew me away:

“They [older deck chairs] used to be Rebecca's and my primary furniture, but shortly before our divorce, we had bought new stuff, and shifted these old chairs out to the far side. Purchases like that had been moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic of our marriage...”

Of course you write spectacular smut, but observations like that move you into a greater stratosphere than the run of the mill smut posted here.

I could, of course, wedge in a lengthy personal anecdote about a failed first marriage - but only attention whores do that. Let’s merely say: “Yep. He’s been there.”
BWAHAHA!
It is an even better compliment to have readers assume I'm writing from experience on something when I am surely not. I'm still on my lovely first wife of several decades, and not gonna change that situation... as long as she lets me!

Been a long dry spell for me for writing, posting here and receiving story comments, so it really made my day to get appreciation from a new fan:

On Crazy Camping Neighbor:

Fabulous story with characters that really come alive right off of the page! I have truly appreciated every single story of yours that I have read, so far. Your writing style is unique & refreshing. Thank you for sharing your talent for story telling with us here!

...and then on Warmer by the Lake Ch. 04:

Another well crafted work of art written by an author that I have a great deal of respect for. I have yet to have read a story of his that I have found grounds for any true criticism. The characters are all 'fleshed out' in every way possible & his plots are well developed. I do find myself torn over the endings; which always leave me wanting at least one more chapter, but I have come to recognize this trait as unique to you. It is one reason that I have read so many of his stories over the past couple of days. Keep up the good work!

Wow...this is one weird story...the writing style is a "little off"...not in a necessarily bad way, just kinda...different...

But, the story is fine...Lily is a weird one...but she has been traumatized by her ex...

Five**5**Stars...just because I DID enjoy it!!
On Rocks Below.

I'm weirdly weird about my weirdness, but so long as I gave someone a smile... And the other thing.
