Comments That Make Your Day

Three comments from my latest submission that each made my day. The story itself hasn't had many views relatively and correspondingly little feedback but reviews like this are rewards in themselves. Many thanks to Vautour, Marbury1803 and Aquariusgirl (in that order below).
I just wanted to congratulate you, this is a sensationally good story and you should be very proud of the result of your hard work.

For anyone who’s taking a peek at the comments and deciding whether or not to commit to reading 37k words, please do. The writing is exceptional and the characters are full of life. Every step taken to forge the relationship between the main characters makes sense and builds to a truly satisfying climax.

Your talent deserves thousands of followers here. One thing I can assure you is that while you may only have recently started your journey as a writer, your ability already places you amongst the elite on this platform. I’m excited for you because your future is incredibly bright.
This was one of those stories that I could savor, and not rush through. It took me about 4 sittings, mainly because I was so enjoying it and didn't want it to be over too soon. Great and fun characters, and I agree with the consensus that the lovely Lorna, a totally beautiful character in her own right, is worth some exploring too. Also, let me say this is the first of your stories I have read. I am for sure going to explore some more of them, Thanks for sharing this. It really was a lovely romance. And I am a "Happy Ending" kind of guy too.
Oh wow, what a beautiful Faerie Tale ❤️. Considering this story was over 37k words, it moved at lightning pace; I absolutely loved it. You're a brilliant writer & I had some LOL moments reading some of the dialogue, it was really funny & quick witted. I had a feeling that Liam 'was slacking off' on purpose to get his Mum & teacher together. It was wonderful from start to finish, I literally didn't want it to end.
Thank you :). Definitely 5 starts from me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
P.s I can't wait to read more of your work.

I let a family member read my LW story (besides my spouse) and that's unusual for me.

I can't post the entire quote without including spoilers, but one quote was

"...It was really good 😃 ...I was caught."

This is the same person who used to mock my writing when I was younger (it was supposed to be playful teasing, but I was an impressionable kid, and it hurt.)

So the vindication is pretty great.

Any comment on an older story. It was short and polite and from another author. That's always appreciated.

The Hammer stories for 2023 - sixteen posted - are creating good reads. My story of a penitent parolee seeking vengeance for his sister's demise already has over one hundred votes. Of several quotes, I like this one best - so far:

"A really great read and a unique plot twist on the characters. I enjoy stories that stimulate the mind and this one did that. Sometimes Fate needs a helping hand."

Okay, so releasing a LW story was an eyeopener for me, and 85 comments in one day just blows my mind. They were almost all positive (6 of them had some mild complaint {too long etc} and 1 was written by someone who wasn't paying attention :ROFLMAO: ).

But I think my favorite comment was one of the earliest.

More twists and turns than a roller-coaster. I absolutely loved it.

My fave comment. So that you know, I have about 20 stories posted.

Nice. Thanks for remarking in Italian dialect. That was quite unexpected in a Lit. offering. 5 stars

I'm currently reading this wonderful story for the second time

He then goes on with a more in depth very positive comment about the story itself.

But what made my day is that this is the first comment I've had where someone specifically mentions they're reading my story for a SECOND TIME.

This from Chapter Five of A Reputation, a completed, 10 episode series from last year:
Hands down the best series on this site! So much porn isn’t a turn on for women. This absolutely nails what I’m looking for. This is the sex I wish I had in college!

I don’t really write for a female audience, but I love it when I find that what I have written appeals to the other team.

"I got through 3 pages of this incoherent mess before I gave up. Sometimes when you're into a story like this you should exercise patience and you will be rewarded with a neatly tied up package. I found that I didn't care so I bailed. One of my critical criteria is that I have to be able to root for at least one of the MCs. I was having trouble figuring out who were the MCs so sayonara to this and to this author 2*"

Well, I thought that when he said 'sayonara to this author,' I wouldn't see him again. But, this reader has zeroed in on three of my other stories, unfortunately, delivering the same kind of scores and comments. It's irksome to have someone duck into and exit without at least reading all of it before delivering an abysmal score - especially in stories with so many plot twists.
:unsure::giggle:

I recalled mention of the commenter Stacnash from a few weeks back by you guys, so when I saw he had taken a moment to visit me, I was preparing to get my ass handed to me.. and was very surprised. I personally have issues with this particular story, so its nice to me to hear it was still enjoyed, published in it's flawed state. ☺️
That's so well written [the comment] that I am putting you on my to-read list! I suggest you get a fancy frame and put that comment on your wall - I've never seen one so complimentary on Lit.

I get positive feedback regularly, especially in email. It's when I get genuine comments that list areas I can improve on or catch my flaws and imperfections that I get happy, enough to share it even. I adore comments like that. I know I have room to improve, so it's refreshing to receive a well rounded opinion.
I got one from him too, full of backhanded compliments and complaints about my audience with a middling rating. I just nuked it.

This one has been on my mind a lot lately, particularly because this series is dark as hell and not for everyone, so this comment regarding a romance blossoming in the story was sooo sweet and heart warming. Thank you kindly, you made my day. @Djmac1031

That scene with Danny and Charlotte was maybe the best love scene I've ever read on LE.

They absolutely deserved that moment. So glad they got it.

I neglected to mention that, given the nature of the story, I kept expecting something BAD to happen in the middle of that scene.

And it does, but not til later. So at least they had that good, sweet moment before it went to hell again.

We've talked a bit on my feelings on Non Con and I've been honest about how some of it can make me feel...icky.

So it was nice to have that straightforward love scene where I could just be happy for the characters involved, knowing both were truly sharing the experience together.

Part of my favorite comment ever, on
Mark & Nia - A Coming of Age Tale:

Well-written by someone who knows how women's bodies really work. Some of the best erotica I have ever read.

It was Anonymous, but I hope it was from a woman because at the end of many of my submissions I ask for comments, "Especially from the female perspective, which is something that as a male writer I want to try to be as close to realistic with as possible."

I’m a firm believer in duality and writing multi-faceted stories, so I’ll be looking to moments of wholesome content along with the dark and demented trials and tribulations that are established in this universe.

Again, thank you for taking a chance, even though the category isn’t something you tend to indulge in. I can be a merciless creator but I felt the same when writing the romance scene, that moment of happiness was well deserved and earned. 🥰

I also just got a comment from him. He basically praised everything except the use of diacritics, which makes me wonder if he read it on an e-reader which couldn't handle the strange symbols?
Anyway, here's the comment, which I appreciate for being so thorough.

I’m really glad I read this because the circumstances are novel to me.

The beginning of this is a triumph. It was well written with plenty of cleverness in the narration and your imagination is awesome. Stavos gripped me from the word go and the build towards L'ventia’s introduction was masterful. The dialogue in the first part was really impressive and I enjoyed the intensity of Stavos’ delivery at every turn.

Additionally, your erotic content is undeniably captivating. There’s enough heat here to stir a reaction from a corpse. No part of it felt out of place when you consider the fantasy setting and the great lengths you went to when building the world. There’s a sophistication to your writing that compliments the intensity and the end result is a story that’s exceptionally good in places. In my notes, I’ve scribbled “this is really good” and I can promise you that I don’t do that often.

However, let me be clear about something. What I’m reviewing is the work that you’ve presented to the reader in the format which you’ve chosen. What I see on the screen right now is your responsibility to get right, not the publisher or anyone else.

You’re already aware of the formatting issues, but they completely ruined the immersion. I was embarrassed for you when I saw the first couple, but to see them reoccur throughout the document made my heart sink. Don’t take risks when you don’t know the technical limitations of the platform you’re publishing on. Believe me, I think you’re incredibly talented, but mistakes like that would put me off reading more of your work. If that’s true for me, what about other readers? It makes me think that you don’t care, so take the time to get it right before you publish.

That aside, there were some more conventional grammatical errors and your use of capitals when Stavos was shouting was lazy. As we got to the end, it became clear that L'ventia would’ve retained more impact if she spoke less, as the quality of the dialogue started to wane.

This is just my opinion, but I also strongly disliked your author’s note. Don’t apologise for your work or try to appease anyone, present it with confidence and let it speak for itself. Especially when what you’ve written is so good. You’re a star, don’t worry about anyone else. Let the tags offer a preview to what lies ahead.

Your name’s playfully modest but there’s nothing mediocre about your work. You’re a brilliant amateur writer and this would easily be a five-star story without the immersion-breaking formatting errors.
71/100. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Correction: Stacnash just reached out to me via a PM, along with a screen shot of what she(?) saw. She saw exactly what I posted. So she didn't like it, which is a perfectly acceptable opinion to have; it is not, however, one that I agree with. Just the same, I appreciate her critique.

She said this as well:

For context, I'm currently in the middle of an endeavour where I'm reading one story from each prominent author here and leaving a fair, balanced review. The results of which, scored out of 100, are ranked and I'll share them once I've gotten to enough stories. I don't know anyone here, I'm not here to make friends or suck up to anyone. I don't owe anyone any favours. If you're good, I'll say so and my standards are high.
