Comments That Make Your Day

I never get comments, but had this one from “Anonymous" this morning on Barstow - Another Road Trip! Pt. 05 that really tickled me:

Bunch of liberals bashing the south! Keep your open minded shit back home ! The South is GREAT!

Obviously tongue-in-cheek; context from the story is important here. The story is a romcom/sex romp about two couples (a “fourple”) taking a road trip through the Deep South. Having lived there for many years I drew from firsthand experiences with the hostility the locals show towards outsiders, sort of underscoring that “Southern hospitality” is largely a façade. I’m glad somebody appreciated it enough to comment.

Snakes in Taipei ( https://www.literotica.com/s/snakes-in-taipei ) is one of my works inspired by living in Taipei in my youth. A native praised the story today-

“I recognized your description of Snake Alley from my time in Taipei. Excellent work evoking the shift between the daytime market and the seedy atmosphere of the night, not that I stayed out much past dark unless surrounded by friends. So exciting to be treated as an exotic beauty, while girls like me were a dime a dozen back at Cal State. Such friendly people and quite complimentary of my Mandarin (though I realized they were just being kind). Thank you for sharing your talents with us. 🇹🇼🇹🇼👏🙏👏

Thx nthusiastic!

It's been far too long since we had some happy comments, so here's one I just got from @joy_of_cooking on Fairytale of New York:
Aww. I had to see what all the comments were about and I was not disappointed. You've done more in 1800 words than I could in 18k.
Thanks, very kind words. If I'd tried to make it any longer I'd have been an emotional wreck, that's why it's so short. :)

Am I the only one who still gets nice comments on their stories? It's starting to feel lonely here.

Anyway, as has become something of a tradition, @Smuttyandfun is the first to comment on my new story (Flesh for Another Fantasy):
5 Stars! So beautifully crafted. I loved the emotion, sparing none of the senses. Really well done.
Thanks! I enjoyed writing about Mel. She's naughty. :)

This is from a conversation, not a comment on my story. @yowser was kind enough to critique one of my stories, at my request. He gave it a very thorough reading and made lots of suggestions, some of which I took. :) But the thing that made my day was saying "I think you know what you want." I feel I do, and I much appreciated his suggestions for how to achieve my goal.
I think you know what you want, always an excellent starting place, and for even the best of us, there will always be the gap in performance between what we think and what we are able to put into words. And, of course, narrowing that gap is the goal all of us chase.

No, but not everybody is posting new stories, and many categories, like sci-fi or erotic horror, don't get a lot of comments. And I only posted a few of the 68 comments on my last story 3 weeks ago. Some will save them up until they have a larger post. It varies.
Congrats on doing so well with your stories and comments!

Awesome comment from fellow writer Cali_Love on oh so controversial romance Back to Where It Almost Began:

This is my second read, wish I could give it 5* a second time. You are a very good writer. Too good for Lit, to be honest. Pace, dialogue, colorful character, excellent command of English and turn of phrase. Well done. Wish I was that good. The 2024 Valentines Day story contest is just around the corner, I hope you have another entry in mind. I will look forward to it.

The only Christmas present I need. 🎁
