I'm sorry, but I disagree that he was a horrible president. This country was a lot better off, and many of us felt a lot better about being American at the time. Yes he did some stupid shit, and I will never condone him lying under oath, but the fact remains that the budget was balanced and our relationship with the rest of the world was ten times better when he was in office. If the Republicans hadn't used their power in congress those last four years to give Clinton shit instead of actually working who know what he might have done.

9-1-1 may have been planned while it was in office, but it was put into place while Bush was on his 4 month vacation at his ranch, and if his advisors had listened to what Clinton's transition team had to say maybe all of those 1000s of innocent people would still be with us. I totally hold the Bush camp responsible for the fact that Bin Laden got away with 9-1-1.

Actually if Clinton had done something about the intellengence he already had on Bin Laden things might have been prevented by him. He had no balls though. It's fairly ironic he got a blow job in office since he was such a pussy.

LOL.

I do agree he balanced the budget though. That's an actual fact.

Personally, I'm happiest when the Powers That Be are able to gridlock each other and fuck things up less, which is one reason why things went as well as they did (in some ways,) while Clinton was in office.

Well you agree he had the intelligence. In that case Bush's people should have done something, but they didn't.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think being in a gridlock helped anything at all, and I think it fuck things up MORE. Much more was actually done in the first four years in office because Clinton had cooperation from congress. What's going on right now proves the point. Everybody is too busy posturing on how they feel about the war and Bush to worry about the fact that the moral in this country is the lowest it's been since the depression, that our schools are the worst that they've been in decades, and the 1000s of people were going bankrupt over paying for health insurance and gas. We need a congress and president that work as a team. Not a group of assholes who worry about their media profile more than their constituents.

Yes, he had enough intelligence to do something about it long before he left office.

I agree we will have to agree to disagree. I don't enjoy this sort of thing in general. That's why I rarely discuss religion or politics on the board.

I will also agree with you that a LOT of things need to change with the way government and politics is conducted in this country if we want to see any substantial beneficial turn abouts.

I will never forgive him for turning his back on the Gay community. He had the bully pulpit but when push came to shove, he chose political expediency.

As I said he did a lot of stupid shit. That was one of things about him that really got me pissed. I never thought he was that great a president, but compared to what we had the four years before and what we have now he's 10 times better.

The reality is all those fucking politicans will turn their backs on any group that will drag them down from acheiving their goal. Dem or GOP. Doesn't make a difference.

I must agree with that!

That's the beauty of a left wing candidate like Kucinich or even Pete Camejo (green party). These men have integrity, intelligence and cojones.

But they don't stand a chance the way our system works. Our loss, I think.

Just for the record, i don't idolize Bill Clinton-he made his mistakes, shunning the gay community (who can forget 'don't ask-don't tell?) and not taking action in Rwanda to name but two. But I do admire him and I think his legacy is far greater than any contributions made by the current administration by far. The man was (is) a politic politician, a trait sorely needed as our world gets smaller as we realize that we no longer are the big fish in a small pond.

This race will be interesting.

I'll have to wait and see who the Dems field, I'm just grateful beyond words that the Republicans are not making noises about trying to run Cheney...

If they did, I would vote for anyone the Democrats run, including a Hillary & Obama ticket.

With the Anti-Christ, I mean Cheney, out of the picture, I'd vote for almost anyone the Republicans run if Clinton #2 gets the nomination.

I can't get excited about McCain, he got too cozy with Dubya. Guilliani... well, okay, he's a stand up guy and about as moderate a candidate as the Republicans can field. At this point though, I'm almost tempted to vote for Fred Thompson strictly based on the entertainment value. Kinda like when I voted for Ross Perot, what the hell, at least I KNOW I'm getting shilled...

*sighs* What happened to candidates with ideals? Morals? Vision? LEADERSHIP? I really, REALLY wish I had a candidate like Barry Goldwater or Jack Kemp, or JFK to vote for. At least they had dreams for a future beyond their next election, a vision for leaving a better tomorrow for our children and grandchildren. The current crop of politicians inspire nothing but apathy and dis-illusionment.

Can't either party find someone that's inspiring?

It's a crying damn shame Colin Powell has had the good sense and wisdom to stay the hell outta the race. HE is a candidate I could get behind and support as a good choice, as opposed to the least dangerous one.

I always liked his blend of social progressiveness and fiscal conservatism. I believe that were he to run, he would blow all current candidates out of the water.

He sure as hell would. I would vote for him in a heartbeat

I'll even go register to vote if you'll run! :D

Yep, I said it. I just can't bring myself to be interested enough in politics to try and choose between the lesser of two evils. If Yang runs, though, it'll be the kind of evil I LIKE!

Thank you!

I'm voting Democratic. I don't give a rat's ass who it is. I have absolutely no preference at this time, amongst the Democrats on the list. But then, knowing me, you all probably knew how I'd vote!

I always liked what I knew of him too, though that was damned little.

Know what I wish? I wish their was a candidate who is not 'the lesser evil'. I really good candidate, one who I really believe in. That would be so awesome. Not gonna happen, but awesome nonetheless.

It boils down to this - no matter what party they're on, they're liars and hyprocrites. How do I know? Cause you don't make it far enough in politics to be running for president unless you are a liar and a hypocrite. *shrugs*
