A small update: I have spoken to my journalist friend, who is a wonderful man indeed...and he is chomping at the bit to get this particular story out there for public consumption. "We'll have a lynch mob on her lawn by nightfall" was his promise, but...well...I'm not sure it would go that far, but you gotta love a man who is ready to rumble on your behalf, right?

I also got a phone call today from the editor of my local paper, who said he received a letter from someone detailing a serious problem going on here...and that the problem was based on the fact that I write erotica, on the media attention, all that. He assured me he was going to hang onto the letter until I was willing to confirm what it said (though I know he is doing that only out of courtesy, and he won't hold it for long). Apparently the writer was firmly on my side in this issue. I have no idea who sent it.

Sounds like karma's come aknockin'. But, try to get that documentation first, if you can - videos, pictures, etc. If media attention creates a hullabaloo then it could be argued that her (kids') actions against you were spurred on by that, and not pre-existing circumstances.

Luckily, I do have copies of all the complaints that I sent in, all the reports that were filed against me for this and that, and all the statements saying the reports were 'unfounded'. I also have some video thus far, and witnesses who will have no problem talking to the press if it goes that far. These documents are official, filed with law enforcement agencies, with CPS, with the HOA...and under the freedom of information act, they can obtain them without a problem, or so I'm told.

I think my journalist friend simply knocking on her door and saying, "I'm ____ from the ______, and I am investigating a problem that allegedly involves you, would you care to comment on this..." would work wonders.

I still hate to get the whole shooting match involved, but you know, she has pushed my hand far enough. I think I have been more than tolerant.

if the media is now going to get involved, i think you need to take a deep breathe and really think about what might happen here.
if you go after her 'all guns blazing', then the public perception of you is not going to be favourable - in fact, you might find that YOU end up being portrayed in the negative.

perhaps a softer approach, that still involves the media?
like simply stating that 'there have been a few things you and your children didn't agree with, but that this is simply a neighborhood spat and you're sure it'll blow over eventually' kind of statement, and allow your neighbour to be the one who goes off the deep end at the media?

About the "Christianity" thing, i haven't taken any offense. I grew up as a little Catholic girl in the Bible Belt (i'm still Catholic...sort of). Believe me, being Catholic in the Bible Belt is about as bad as being an erotica-writing heathen I was told that i was going to hell a few times. Yeah, i witnessed some real "Christian" behavior alright. Anyways, hopefully most people here can tell the difference between real Christians and people who claim that they are Christians in order to legitimize their fascist behavior.

Yeah...to say you called me at a bad time today is a HUGE understatement, I know.

I have been reluctant to act because after all...these are kids. And these kids don't deserve all the shit that is going to come down on them. It isn't their fault that they aren't being disciplined appropriately.

Besides that, warrior queen has a good point about the media. I don't want to be portrayed in a bad light. However...the more I discuss it with Mr. Journalist, the more I am reminded that I have always been more than polite and kind with the media, even if events of late have made me wary. That gives me an advantage, because if there is anything the members of the media love, it is respect.

Monday morning, the ball starts rolling. She wants a war, she can find it...but that is entirely up to her. From this point on, whatever comes down on her will be in direct proportion to what SHE does, so far as I'm concerned.

Yes, you did get your point across, perfectly. And I agree with it. At this point, I'm thinking the situation is volatile enough that Debbie will jump on that bandwagon without even realizing it will run her down under the wheels when the momentum picks up. Which is just fine by me.

My anger has turned to a slow simmering...calm anger, the kind that gets things done. Sir Brian was right to yell in all caps. I've always been the peacemaker...It really DOES take something this severe to make me lash out. Like I said before...I'm not above doing whatever it takes now. But at the same time, like you said so kindly...tact is necessary.

Quiet legal stuff should be okay, but media coverage could bring a reaction that no one can control.
Unfortunately there are other people who will react the same way. You are a non church going divorced woman with 2 kids, you not only have sex and enjoy it, you write about it! You profit from corrupting others in some eyes (not mine of course) and this can be serious stuff to heavy bible thumpers. ok im sorry this is kinda off topic i was just browsing through this thread and i had to say something, becuase i play compitition paintball and things exactly like this have caused alot of problems for the sport across north america. ya see around where i live paintball has almost been shut down twice becuase of things like this one drive by shooting and once when a lady had her house paintballed on haloween. and in many major cities across north america similar things have happend. i realize this may have been a lil joke but i really hate it when people joke about that kind of thing that has almost stoped me from playing a sport myself and many others really like to play.

I can't help but wonder what version of the Bible she's thumping but I'm willing to bet that 'Song of Soloman' is blacked out along with other references to incest and 'spilled seed'. Absolutely - especially considering how many weirdos are out there (Debbie not excluded). Just this past week a neighbor on my own street got arrested for going to meet a 14-yr-old at a motel 6. The 14-yr-old ended up being a bunch of cops and that neighbor, from my neighborhood - my nice neighborhood! - is kicking it in jail. It boggles the mind. This man used to be a cop in Colorado, and he has kids! With people like that in the world, Debbie should be paying Sheath to live next door.
