Dear douchebag father,

If I ever see you threatening your wife or children again, I promise you will end up with at least two broken legs. I don't ever want to see or hear that again. You're lucky a cop walked in and you settled down.

Signed,
LEARN HOW TO BE A FUCKING MAN!

Little one,

I am so sorry and so afraid this adventure is coming to an end. With the heart of a parent, the knowledge of one nearly three times your age and the cursed empathy of being an author, I can guess how it feels. You've come so far in your eighteen years with blessings, riches and gifts that will feel as empty as cup full of solar ether.

Before your head fills with the empty curses of "woulda-shoulda-coulda," let me tell you how you did everything right. You jumped through all the hoops you could find in your quest to go away to college. I know the anger, frustration and hate you feel towards your egg donor. As I said before, "Without her, there would be no you." That's as true today as the first time I said it to my strong daughter with tears in eyes that never cry.

It sucks that the college lead us to believe it was in the bag. It sucks that we went forward believing their estimates that your unique combination of scholarships, grants, loans and finacial aid brought you with $1000 of meeting your dream. How dare they now tell you, after a month of classes, "By the way, you actually owe us $4096 for this semester." Their estimates were off by 20%, simple math I know you can do in your head.

To add injury to insult, I know how hard you worked this summer, the overtime you put in at a thankless job to earn the supposed $2000 you would need for semester 1 & 2. I know how excited you were to have a job lined up before classes even started for the princely sum of $12 per hour.

I know the dream was more than just college. I know the dream was college away... away from the only place you've known as home. Away from that woman who donated the egg that created half of you. Away from the sister you never wanted. Away from the limited, country-fuck, backward, illiterant, unsophisticated, unwise, ignorant and dowright-ugly people who have filled your life from day one until now.

Excuse the tiny smile that just crept on my face. It's not a grin I think you can understand or appreciate. You're not wrong with your assessment of the people in your hometown of 1800 souls. They are all those things. They are also the friendliest, nicest, kindest people I've met. There may come a day in your life when you find yourself looking for a home much like the one we tried to give.

I was there with you on your fifteenth birthday when life was so confusing that you took a blade to your flesh and began cutting out of frustration. I was the one who sat awake all night, watching you sleep, so afraid of what else you might do to yourself without constant supervision. I was the one who spent your birthday on the phone to find you the help I couldn't give. I so remember your words, only whispered once about how I had failed you by "leaving me alone with her." I hated my job at that moment. I hated the 100 days a year when I travel. I hated every lonely moment you spent lost and confused and, well, being fifteen and different than everyone you knew.

I was also there to witness the tenacity you displayed creating a work of art. (I won't be more forthcoming than that in this forum.) The 100 hours you spent to create it. And the vision you brought the year before and the even greater vision you brought the next year. We joke about it, but you literally became world famous: celebrated across the interwebs and interviewed across the nation, including at least one national broadcast.

I've seen you cry three times in your eighteen years. The first time you were vaccinated. I can still remember the indignant look on your face as the little you looked at the doctor with shock and surprise that he would dare to hurt you like that. You never cried again receiving a shot. I saw tears the night you were convinced the creation that would bring you national notice wasn't going to work. And I saw the tears when the egg donor said those hateful things to you that one night when the paper you wrote wasn't working.

You don't know how to cry and I get that. I don't either. I cried once when I lost my parents. Just that one time. It wasn't enough.

So here's the lessons I think you're about to learn. Life can suck. Life can be the hardest thing you've ever done with yourself. It ain't easy, it ain't always fun and don't even ask me about how it ends because the ending truly sucks, too.

This is going to feel like a huge setback. This is going to feel like a failure. This is going to feel as if your world ended. It's none of the above. This is a bump in the road of life. It's the story your children and grandchildren will get tired of hearing. This is the beginning of the story of one who doesn't know how to quit and the dad who never stopped cheering you on. You can do this, whatever "this" turns out to be.

Free hugs anytime you need them!

Dad

You are a wonderful Father! I think he'd love to hear this.

I am sure you have heard this a few times already but

you certainly have my vote for amazing father of the decade. Good luck to your child.

Thank you. I'm not worthy. I'm just a guy doing my best like 99% of the other dads out there. I also need to update this, which is going to be challenging because of details I need to keep to myself...

My daughter is amazing. She put out a plea to people who friended her after the acclaim she received for the "art" she created. They stepped up, big-time, to help her reduce the gap to something manageable. She raised $2100 in private donations to her college fund. Absolutely remarkable to us. I just saw her this weekend and she's doing well. So, for now... smile at the happiest of endings. I am. :D

Dear X:

You are a fucking bag of scum. Dumping me with a text message and refusing to talk to me face to face is one of the shittiest things you could have done. And after that you still want me to volunteer my precious time and energy working for nothing for people you've all but adopted. Christ. Do you know, that's time I could be using to make lots of good money for the things I need in life? Yet I'm going to still do it, not for you or anyone else, but for me. I DO deserve a good man, and I DO deserve to have fun. Face it, you dumped be because I wouldnt fuck you. You expected me to do THAT after 2 weeks of being technically together, in which you were only interested for the first week? Hell no. Not to mention how it would fuck up my ability to donate blood, because your stupid friends bought you a whore. Your pleasure isnt worth the promise I made and my ability to save lives.

I'm glad we're over. And I'll be so much better without YOU.

Dear much-better-without-you,

Good call, well done.
And kudos for keeping up the charity work as well.
I know it isn't easy, but settling for second-best - or in this case by the sounds of it, 52nd best - is never the right option.
Sending hugs for a difficult time.

Dear Brittany Spears,

Close your mouth already. Do what 98% of us do when we are done talking. We close our lips. You look like a live Japanese dubbed movie everytime you speak.

Signed,

Simon Cowel enough already. Go back home

Bugger off! We don't want him! Let him keep dumbing down your telly and feeding your telly"celebrity" magazines!

Dear Puppy,

If you want to continue to live (here) lol, please refrain from chewing stuff that is not dog toys. You have an entire BIN of toys, why my shoes and underclothing are of such a draw to you is beyond me.

Knock it the heck off.

Knock it the heck off Litser

I thought you didn't wear underclothing?

Thanks a ton. For the record, I told him we needed to talk. He's been avoiding me at the end of our shifts ever since. The pussy.

Dear guys,

It's been brought to my attention that we're letting the side down. Certain lovely Lit ladies are expressing a certain amount of frustration with the, ah, quality of their Hump Day. Let's see what we can do about that, eh? It may be a challenge, but I'm sure we can all 'rise' to the occasion. :D

Dear KC,

I really tried to warn you away from this. I've also tried to encourage you to get help. But if you wait until the last minute, I can't help much. No one can. You have to get ahead of this. I think maybe you can do this, but you seem to not get "the program."

Signed

Why don't people listen to me?

Puppy is just attention seeking, and is clearly doing quite well :D

Dearest Beloved,

There isn't a breath I take that I don't think of you. I wish you were with me. I absolutely know that our story isn't finished.

There is no distance or length of time that will diminish my love for you.

Always yours,

Schmoopie :)

Dear can of tomatoes,

Thanks for landing on my big toe. Fuck you very much.

~ me.

Dear Toe

Thank you for being there when I was heading for an all time low.

I hope your hurt heals

Dear Tom,

I consist of flesh and blood. You are a can. You needed to take one for the team. Not me.

To the rapists,

I hope one day our paths cross, although I highly doubt they will. People like yourselves are the reason why I believe in the death penalty, but it makes me believe more so in an "eye for an eye" What is even crazier is that she was there under the pretense of counceling someone through a horrific time in their lives, only to have a horrific thing happen to them.

You see I want two men do to you what you did to her. I want those men to pin you down. Beat you, force you to perform oral. I want them to take turns holding your legs over your head as you scream, plead, beg, and eventually succumb to what is inevitably going to happen to you.

Then I want them to toss you aside as you did her and let you sit there and feel the shame, embarassment, and horrifiying realization of what just happened, as you try to put the puzzle pieces together of what just happened.

I wish nothing but the absolute worst to happen to you. I want someone to sodomize you on a daily basis while beating you with a leather strap as you did her. I want you to feel scared all day everyday as you wonder if they know where you live and would they be coming back.

I want you to have to go through the pain and embarassment of someone performing a rape kit test on you. As you sit there and just tremble and wonder over in your head why me as she is doing now.

You took away a beautiful woman's heart and soul the other day. You have reduced her to a shell of her former self. I would ask why but I know the answer already. You are a weak little shit whose mommy didn't hug you enough. You and your friend are a coward and a disgrace to not only men but humans in general.

Fuck do I wish I knew where you were right now, because I would love to watch you bleed as you caused her to do. You fucking little weak tits deserve to die a horrific death and I for one will be praying it happens everyday from this day forward.

You my friend who had this happen to her,

Stay as strong as you can. You have my number and countless others who are more than willing to lend an ear. PLease follow the advice of the paramedics. Take the preventative medicine so you do not contract anything from those mother fuckers.

Please call the crisis hotline. Find a local support group and go to it. Be around people who have suffered as you just have. Lean on each other to help you get through your days.

I am so sorry this took place. I am truly saddened for what has happened to you. Keep your head up. Stay strong and hopefully you will realize once again what me and many other people know. You are an amazing woman, who makes each of us laugh. You are selfless, genuine and I am honored that you are my friend.

Take care and call if you need anything.

Rob
