Desert Rose's Oasis

So, There I was....
Walking through the woods to get to the oasis and I stumbled upon this little lost girl. Evidently her Grandma is sick and she's going to visit her. But she's scared and cold in this dark scarey forest. What's a man to do?

You all hold my beer, and save some chow for me, I'll bring her to the Oasis and have her rest in our little old tub.

I think she needs a back rub, carrying all that weight must be tiring, I mean in her basket of course;)

Oh, Ox! You're always so kind and...... er........ 'accomodating :D;)

No piccy! :(

Doesn't time fly! It can't possibly be that long since I popped in.

Goddess, I hope you and yours are nowhere near that crude carrying train. How in heavens name did they manage t freight a time bomb like that through populated areas with no management plan????

Hey Ox! Is everything oiled, pressed, packed and sandproofed yet??? *whispers* Don't forget your bucket and spade........;)

Doc, would you line me up a few drinks, please? It's time for some quiet and thoroughly alcoholic time with our mate, Ox.

What is your drink of choice?

I'm feelin like a good scotch, I think. I love the Glenfiddich, Ox the Glenlivet. Either is gooooooooood. :D With a wee pitcher of water and second glass to the side, please Doc. And whatever you prefer for a good hook-in. :)

Thanks Triske. Today is the Big day. Of course not so big a deal to me, having done this three other times. I'll stand you and The others in the Oasis a few rounds of Scotch and what ever else.

I may be able to get here from there. Depends on what the Wi Fi situation is. If not, I hope you and Doh have fun down in Lovely Savanna.

It's come around so quickly, as these things do.

Your candle is already lit, my friend.

Pull up a pew and we'll toast your health and lusty return.

Will there be any dutch with you? :D

Iain wrote these while posted to Uruzgan for DFAT. Penpusher he may be, but pragmatic and funny. He then came home and completed the album and toured with the soldiers' blessing.

Before that his missus was posted to the USA, so he went, too. (She tells me that she did NOT break her bosses arm!) ;)

Fuckin Tarin Kot. Or TK in the common terms. I was south of there in ZABUL. Those places.....you will never forget the experience. Unless you get blown to shit with a daisy chained IED as happens often. Places like that and Lwara, Korengal, Argandab Valley and a few others will be the collective mind of all of us for years to come.

Fred Smith caught it all pretty damn good. It's weird that every place he named, I knew. If any of you get to Bagram, There's places named after my brother.

It's like a big pond of nasty water that has to be crossed, you just gotta jump in and swim non-stop until you get to the other side.

Maybe new ideas born in your billet. :D

Goodness, How could I write one and not put one in. Maybe she'll have a hint of an Aussie accent to!!

hey oasis dwellers. I'm still transiting the world. Trisk almost had a story going in my head about a Boobalishus, flame haired, wild Triskele. Auburn, copper or light red?

Pretty bored here too. not even in Afghanistan yet.

Hmmmm that would be interesting. Ok, Hair the color of a copper tea kettle and the flash of an ivory smile. Tethered to two boobs like beach balls under a yacht sail. Small triangles of cloth covering bronze skin kissed by the beach angels.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. She sounds much warmer than I am!!!!! I'm freezing my toucas off!

Had our monthly jam last night and we got hijacked! We're strictly acoustic and totally impromptu. Bloody out of towners got told they could come by one of the Folk Clubbers. Set up mikes and amps then trampled in a 14 set!  Not happy. Outsiders are very welcome but to JOIN IN!!!!! It's not a gig! Flickin Hell we organise those each month at a hall. And people pay to go.

We all got down and had a ball afterwards and they DID join in, then. But we lost so much time.

OK. Over bitchin, now. Anything exciting happening on the weekend?

No that is ALONG way from here. The train here isn't even running the last few years and it is just a passenger train. We hope it is back by next year as it is a great way to see the Island and get to my brothers.
