Disciples to the Forgotten

"Demons..." she seethed and launched a pair of holy arrows at one of the vile creatures. One struck it in it's flabby revolting nipple, the other in the chin. The wretched beast squealed in pain like the pig it resembled as it ripped the shafts from itself.

She shifted the incarnum residing in her to maximum in her helm and eyes, feeling the protective aura around her strengthen, and her vision sharpen. She watched for a reaction from the fiends, ready to drop her bow and bring her constant companion to bear on their hated foes.

Agnimita

IC: The slender beauty drew her two swords and edged closer to her ally. Her face was one of contemplation and plotting instead of animal instinct or combat experience.

A tingle of static went threw the air and a brief odor of ozone. Agnimita rolled forward out of the bolts path. She then lept forward slicing a closing demon twice in its gut. Most of the wound instantly sealing. "I suppose this is when worship comes in handy."

"I suppose this is when worship comes in handy."

Yasaedra was a firm believer that actions spoke louder than words. As she felt Dark Maiden's Light quicken her, she loosed one more holy arrow into the same nipple she had struck moments ago. It squealed again in rage and charged her. At the same time, she felt an electrical charge building up, she ignored the third fiend who was casting it. Not even trying to avoid the pending bolt or the charging demon, she began to cast a spell of her own.

The bolt struck, washing over her like water, leaving her unharmed. The charging fiend slammed up against an invisible barrier of goodness a mere 20ft from her, tumbling backward utterly confused.

She loosed a golden bolt (Bolt of Glory) at the one who tried to charge her, striking it square in the back as it tumbled. It tried to resist, and shrieked in pure agony as it failed.

Agnimita

IC: Agnimita was more then 20 ft away from her ally after her roll to safty. She circled her foe and with a subtle smile steped forward landing a deep blow around the creatures neck. "If at first you don't succeed cut deeper."

The third demon suddenly teleported away, leaving only the injured demon.

The fiend she has shot turned into a pool of black vicious liquid. Yasaedra turned to the one Agnimata was engaging, noticing the field of scintillating colors gathering around it. Whispered a prayer to Eilistraee to guide her hand (True Strike), she drew the Dark Maiden's Light and charged. She dropped her protective aura as she closed.

Agnimita

IC: Agnimita cartwheeled to the side, an impressive feat given her hands were fool of swords. A wide array of colors shown from the demons hands and even before the spell was fully cast all could fill a tinge of fear in there stomachs, with some luck the feeling would end there.

The young lady let out another sword strike with her right hand.

The Dark Maiden's Light flashed with holy fury as it connected with the hated fiend's neck, striking the wound left by Agnimata's previous strike.

Agnimita

IC: The young woman moved to the apposing side of the demon to establish a flanking position when the beat dissolved into goo. Agnimita sheethed her swords.

"So if I ever turn into a demon remind me not to be hit by that sword." She kicked some dust from her boots. "Shall we pack and continue onward?"

"If you ever turn demon, teleport, do not run from me," she said with a crooked smile as she examined Dark Maiden's Light, watching the last of the demon's ickor sizzle and vaporize off it.

"More satisfying or less satisfying than the last one," she thought bemused to Dark Maiden's Light.

Dml

IC: "Every once in a while I'd just like to talk them down, but when I must I do find comfort in serving my function."

She quirked an eyebrow at Dark Maiden's Light, "Talk beings composed of raw evil and chaos down? I don't think that's even possible. True I've heard of a demon now and then being redeemed, but in each instance, it was a succubus actually falling in love with a celestial and seeking them out. And I'm sure that since the rise of the Tanarr'i, there are fewer than twenty such instances."

DML and Agnimita

IC: DML: "There are fewer instances of other demons, but there is still hope. Of coarse redeemed demons are slightly more common then you'd think. There are a few ways and once you are strong enough I will teach you one of them."

Agnimita: The ranger watched the drow go back and forth with her sword. Clearly aware of what was happening and at the same time anoyed at the lack of forward movement.

"Its not safe here and I can't vouch for further down the trail. But another spot may be better for your trance."

She looked curiously at Dark Maiden's Light and was about to reply when Agnimita spoke up.

"True," she repacked her bedroll into her bag and followed Agnimita. As the continued she watched for signs of other foes. Ones that the escaped demon might have brought back for round two.

"Did your brother's mission involve anything to do with demons?"

Agnimita

IC: "No but..." She paused. "There was one person in the past but hes dead now. Its not like demons are to seek vengeance either, they don't have the order for that. Perhaps that's more reason to worry."

"If he has angered a demon, expect it to seek revenge. Demons are hateful creatures, a mere mortal thwarting them easily creates a grudge, a grudge that will only grow with time." She paused, "Or it could be that a demon, a powerful one judging by the fact that three Nalfeshnee attacked us, is after what ever your brother is after."

Agnimita

IC: "Demons are not schemers and plotters, a demons vengeance is quick, far from patient, and usaly personal for the demon. We were ambushed here by three demons. I agree that they must be working for some one else. Or perhaps they intended to attack any one passing by here. It is hard to say."

"The vast majority of demons are not long term plotters, true. But the ones that do are the dangerous ones. They are the ones that rise in power. And a small minority of an apparently infinate number, is still a very large number."

Agnimita

IC: 'The vast majority of demons are not long term plotters, true. But the ones that do are the dangerous ones. They are the ones that rise in power. And a small minority of an apparently infinite number, is still a very large number.'

Agnimita smiled, "But a geometer once assured me its not in comparison. Well lets just take some happiness in the fact that a demons most frequent enemy is still a demon. But a matter of caution would still be wise. Lets relocate and watch our steps." The human girl puts a few things into a bag of holding and continues down the path.

Yasaedra followed her employer as they traveled the extensive network of stairs. Both she and Dark Maiden's Light watching for signs of enemies.

Agnimita

IC: Agnimita stopped at an unassuming door in the middle of a landing of stairs. A heat could be felt threw the closed portal.

"This is the door we want. On the other side is the plane of fire are you ready for that?"

"I think it might be prudent to return to the previous landing and rest. If we encounter more fiends, I'd like to have another Bolt of Glory ready."

Agnimita

IC: "I'd hate to do it but I must agree." The group moves back a ways and stops at a decent looking landing.

The returned to the nearest 'safe' landing. Yasaedra laid out her bedroll, an laid down on top of it, just in case they came under attack. Cradling Dark Maiden's Light, her mind calmed and she began her trance.

Agnimita

IC: The human girl sat and waited looking around in a semi paranoid fashion.

Her trance had lasted nearly five hours. She asked Agnimata if she had any suggestions on spells that would be handy. Once she had her reply, she assumed the lotus position, and spent the remainder of the required rest in prayer. Dark Maiden's Light lay in front of her, helping Agnimata watch for danger.
