Do you have an age limit?

I thought of this when I read your post...

Steely Dan

Hey Nineteen

Way back when
In Sixty-seven
I was the dandy
Of Gamma Chi
Sweet things from Boston
So young and willing
Moved down to Scarsdale
Where the hell am I
Hey Nineteen
No we can't dance together
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember
The Queen of Soul
It's hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old

Hey Nineteen
No we got nothing in common
No we can't talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

The Cuervo Gold
The fine Colombian
Make tonight a wonderful thing

No we can't dance together
No we can't talk at all

Is there abundant irony that my stepdad played "Gaucho" on vinyl and I loved this song when I was ten, and there are people posting here who have only heard it on the "classics" and elevator stations?

I think this may tweak MY lower age limit buttons. Currently. I'll abandon them at 45.

Hmm...I prefer them older than myself (21) and young enough to be active, whatever age that is for that person. I tend to be attracted to older men, just because they pull off competent and responsible so much better than the younger crowd. Not to mention experience is both sexy and comforting when I plan on letting them tie me up and have their wicked ways.

it's a song?

Yes I have well defined limits.

Exactly one minute younger or one minute older than the person whom has my current affection.

Child! *whack* and vinyl is a flat shiny spinny thing that makes music!

Hey I know what vinyl is.

I had pac man christmas on a pretty plastic disc that's too big to go in my cd player when I was 4. *bats eyes*

I also remember trying to put the 45's my mom had into my walkman. *giggles*

I remember my 17 yr old asking me when CD's got smaller when he saw my album collection...he was about 10:D

Benoit College does a list each year discussing the mindset of the incoming freshman class. It never fails to hurt my head.

Here's a few:

#6 They may confuse the Keating Five with a rock group.
#7 They have grown up with bottled water
#8 General Motors has always been working on an electric car.
#9 Nelson Mandela has always been free and a force in South Africa.
#10 Pete Rose has never played baseball.
#11 Rap music has always been mainstream.
#12 Religious leaders have always been telling politicians what to do, or else!
#13 “Off the hook” has never had anything to do with a telephone.
#14 Music has always been “unplugged.”
#15 Russia has always had a multi-party political system.
#16 Women have always been police chiefs in major cities.
#17 They were born the year Harvard Law Review Editor Barack Obama announced he might run for office some day.

#22 No one has ever been able to sit down comfortably to a meal of “liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.”
#23 Wal-Mart has always been a larger retailer than Sears and has always employed more workers than GM.

#27 Al Gore has always been running for president or thinking about it.
#28 They never found a prize in a Coca-Cola “MagiCan.”
#29 They were too young to understand Judas Priest’s subliminal messages.
#30 When all else fails, the Prozac defense has always been a possibility.

#34 They were introduced to Jack Nicholson as “The Joker.”
#35 Stadiums, rock tours and sporting events have always had corporate names.
#36 American rock groups have always appeared in Moscow.
#37 Commercial product placements have been the norm in films and on TV.

#39 Fox has always been a major network.

#46 Most phone calls have never been private.

Just 7 yrs between you and me.. and such a difference in experiences..

I can recall when music videos were seen on NBC on Friday nights and MTV actually showed music videos.

When there were only three channels to watch and if you saw a documentary (okay 4 networks) it was on PBS and was about as interesting as watching paint dry.

Steely Dan! I remember dancing to their music at high school dances and teen clubs. Wow.

I do have an age range.

I prefer men my age or older, and have honestly only dated one person younger than me. He was six months younger, so that doesn't really count ;)

Older I prefer no one outside of 8 years. I've found that people over 8 years older than me frankly have different life experiences than I do - a lot of things I soaked up from TV, internet, books, etc, are very different than what someone 10 years or more my senior soaked up. A lot of times, besides frankly not being very physically attracted to *many* (not all) people older than me, we don't understand each other's humor and jokes and pop culture references.

Shrug. I have an age limit. I've been told by many people that I'm a jerk for having one, but whatever.

As for age limits, the older I get the more narrow they become. Married very young to a man 18 years my senior. That lasted for 21 years. My former Dom (who I met when I was 43) was eight years older than me. I'm 47 and still prefer older men, but not much more than 8-10 years older. However, I would not rule out someone more than 10 years older if we were compatible in most aspects of our lives.

I am well versed in the current pop culture, music, etc., as my 18 yr old daughter keeps me informed, lol. Yet, I can well relate to what Chicklet wrote (bolded phrases) in regards to dating someone younger than me. My interest would certainly be based on his level of maturity. Even then, I don't think I'd be comfortable dating a man younger than 38 or 39.

I think the age range that I like to work with is 28-40. Any younger then 28 and I can't take the person seriously and older then 40 I just don't have that much in common with. (I'm 30.)

I do admit that when I turn 40, I plan on becoming a cougar and dating men in their 20s. They of course will only be used as sex objects and arm candy, lol. I will not play the sugar momma role though. That is not attractive at all.

Ok. Yeah. That broke my head.

There was one from a few years back that was truly painful. I'll see if I can find it.

That's ok, I've got about 75% of them. LOL But I'm used to being in the dark with that kind of thing, since I rarely hang out with people my age. The other day a friend was showing me a picture of a house and said it reminds her of Mr. Ed's place, didn't I agree? I said "L? You forget, I only have a vague idea of who Mr. Ed is, and I have no idea what his barn looked like." She laughed and said she's forgotten AGAIN that I ten years younger than her. LOL

Until I met my Master I would have said that I preferred older men. I hate a great deal of pop culture with a passion and often find that I have little in common with people my own age or younger.

Having said that, at 24 Master is 4 years my junior. He actually lied on our first date and told me he was older, I forget what age he picked. He confessed the next day when I went to his place for dinner and a DVD (that's one of those new fangled gadgets that make videos look like housebricks). He was sharing a house with 2 other guys and it was just totally studentville. He had posters on his wall, stolen traffic cones and everything, I haven't had a poster on a wall in at least 10 years. So it was all a bit surreal in that respect but in fact we're very much alike, 20something going on 45.

Now I don't even consider his age at all. It's quite bizzare in that although I'm 28 I look very young and still have to carry ID to buy alcohol. If I'm with Master though people generally assume that I'm older than I look. He's even had a few dirty looks from people who have assumed that I'm underage and he's some kind of pervert.

He's never denied it though :D

I've closed the age gap with my Bull by netflixing Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I have enough boy brain that I usually dial up cartoons and stupid stuff mentally after a great lay and so does he. Neither of us are hip to the pop culture unless overrun with sex hormones.

I got him hooked on The Magnetic Fields 69 love songs, and he got me watching Rawhide.

Which is pretty well written. And super DUPER Daddy/bitchboy secret gay action in the storylines.

Bear in mind these were the things he watched in PJ's in wonderment in front of the TV at 8 or so.

He also has regaled me with tales of porn being something you had to venture out to see/get and Behind the Green Door era hot naturalistic sex stuff, it's not all reverting to 8.

I'm like you, beautiful Graceanne, I generally hang out with younger or older people or at least I used to. Sometime in college I started also hanging out with my own age. I'm good with all now. Though ladies my own age seem too busy to get together these days. Now my ten years younger crowd all have little ones who make that difficult too. I guess I need a twenty years younger crowd to hang with. LOL

Yeah, what's up with everyone having kids and a family to tend to?? Geez!

LOL, but yeah it sucks trying to hang out with people who's schedule isn't as flexible as yours because of family duties. That's what nannies are for. Get with the program, people! :p
