Donald Trump loves the poorly educated

Trump loves the poorly educated, and thus strives to ensure that millions of registered voters are dumb enough to believe in conspiracy theories and Republican talking points.

"The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant."

Maximilien Robespierre.

Watching the way that the Republican Party has spent decades underfunding schools, pushing creationism as part of the school curriculum, denying the theory of evolution, vainly attempting to abolish the department of education and defaming teachers, college professors and scientists on right-wing radio, one could reasonably assume that the Republican Party actually WANTED to turn America into a nation swarming with millions of intellectually-lazy dupes.

Perhaps we should try to remove the Republicans from power, fully fund America’s schools, praise public school teachers for the admirable work that they do, commend all the good that scientists have done for this nation, and see if that helps to produce a more educated citizenry.

Yeah, this is why Republicans don't want to pay teachers.

Better pay equals better teachers.

Better teachers equals a better education.

Better education equals smarter voters.

AND SMART VOTERS DON'T VOTE REPUBLICAN!

Donald Trump loves the poorly educated.

He’s told us so, himself.

He hates the intelligence community, he hates American judges, he hates CNN, he hate MSNBC, he hates NBC, he hate hates most of the American Free Press, he hates the United States Constitution, he hates Latinos, he hates immigrants, he hates the FBI, he hates investigative journalists and he hates fact-checkers…but he loves the poorly educated.

Honestly, Trump isn’t all that bright himself. The lies that he tells are sorely lacking in sophistication or credibility. Without the poorly educated, Trump’s candidacy would never have been able to get off the ground. The poorly educated are Trump’s base.

It’s sad that a presidential candidate would target America’s dullards, halfwits and dropouts as his primary voting bloc, however what’s even sadder is the fact that there are enough of them out there to sway a national election. And even once Trump is gone, they’ll still be out there, and they’ll still have the power to elect presidents, governors, senators and judges.

So, how large is this voting bloc that Trump loves so much? I can’t give you an exact number, however we’re talking about, however it’s well over a hundred million.

This is a horrifying thought, and I’d love to tell you that we’ve got the math wrong and that there aren’t nearly that many Americans out there who are so utterly clueless and ignorant, however, the facts speak for themselves.

The Pew Research Group has done polling of the American people to see just how intelligent the American population is, and here is what they’ve found:

Twenty-five percent of Americans cannot identify which nation American fought a war against to gain their independence.

Twenty-nine percent of Americans cannot locate the Pacific Ocean on a map of the world.

Thirty percent of Americans do not know what the Holocaust was.

Thirty-three percent of Americans are incapable of naming ANY of the three branches of the United States government.

More than thirty-seven percent of the American people cannot name a single right protected by the First Amendment.

Nearly fifty percent of Americans believe that global climate change is some sort of hoax.

Fifty-three percent of Americans believe that undocumented immigrants have no legal rights under the United States Constitution.

Fifty-five percent of Americans believe that Christianity was written into the U.S. Constitution and that the Founding Fathers wanted America to be a Christian theocracy.

Fifty-seven percent of Americans are unable to identify Herbert Hoover, or Herbert Hoover’s role in American history.

And even though it is a cornerstone of medical science, immunology, genetic science and biology, a shocking SIXTY-FIVE PERCENT of Americans do not believe in the theory of evolution!

Over two-hundred years ago, Thomas Jefferson told us that an enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a republic. He told us that self-government would not be possible unless the citizens were educated sufficiently to enable them to exercise oversight.

Trump is probably unaware of anything Thomas Jefferson said about the consequences of an uneducated citizenry, however, he seems to instinctively understand that an educated citizenry would not tolerate his lies and dishonest scheming. Trump doesn’t want an educated citizenry exercising oversight. He wants millions of credulous dullards mindlessly chanting slogans, believing absurd lies and supporting atrocities.

And while Donald Trump will soon be nothing more than a sad footnote in America’s history, the MILLIONS of intellectually-lazy dupes that believe America’s Founding Fathers wanted America to be a Christian theocracy, and think that climate change is a hoax, will still be with us. They will still be voting in national, state, local and school board elections.

Largely anti-immigration (from "shithole countries" ) with a significant white nationalist element, the GOP has become our nation's 21st century Know Nothing Party, bringing new meaning to the claim, "I know nothing." Here are five examples of invincible ignorance:

1. In early 2015, before Donald Trump entered the race, no presidential hopeful indicated unequivocal support for the science of evolution; one (Jeb Bush) accepted it with caveats; seven (Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker) refused to say where they stood; and four (Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum), were evolution denialists.

2.
In 2019 the League of Conservation Voters identified 130 current members of Congress -all but one of whom is a Republican - who doubt or deny the scientific consensus that the planet Earth is getting warmer and the principal cause is human behavior. "I think it just goes through cycles and it has to do a lot with the sun," said Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.). To demonstrate that climate change is a myth, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) cited warm temperatures in Greenland during the Viking era. Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) declared, "I believe that climate change in this country is largely leftist propaganda to change the way we live." Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) said, "some scientists do, some scientists don't." Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) called climate change "the biggest scam since Teapot Dome." Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) believes "there isn't any real science to say we are altering the climate path on the earth." Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) claims that "the idea that CO2 is somehow causing global warming is on its face fraudulent." In 2015, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) brought a snowball to the floor of the Senate to show that the world remains as cold as ever; three years later, Inhofe endorsed scriptural descriptions of climate change. Donald Trump claimed that "the concept of global warming was created by the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."

3. As of last month, 97 Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives would not say publicly if they have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Asked if he was worried about the virus spreading or mutating, Sen. Cramer replied, "Nah... You know me, I haven't been worried about this since the beginning." Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said, "I'm talking to doctors who have, since day one, been concerned about vaccinating people who've already had COVID-19, because you die, not of COVID, you die of the immune system over-reaction to COVID." Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) blasted the Biden administration's plan to go door-to-door to urge Americans to get vaccinated: "They could then go door-to-door to take your guns. They could go door-to-door to take your Bibles." Peter Feaman, a Republican National Committee member from Florida, recently called vaccines "the mark of the beast."
In early-December 2020, 220 Congressional Republicans refused to say whether Biden or Trump won the presidential election. After Biden secured a majority of the votes in the Electoral College, Forbes reached out to every GOP member of Congress to ask the same question again. Only nine of them responded that Biden was president. Little more than a week ago Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff (2020-2021) and Congressman from North Carolina (2013-2020), told reporters that former president Trump is currently conducting meetings with "some of our Cabinet members" and "we're planning to move forward in a real way."

5. After the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, Rudy Giuliani, President Trump's lawyer, maintained that "the riot was preplanned. This was an attempt to slander Trump." Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) referred to "evidence, much of it public, surfacing that many Capitol assaulters were fascist ANTIFAS, not Trump supporters." Rep. Andy Clyde (R-Ga.) said, "Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion, staying between the stanchions and ropes, taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn't know the TV footage was a video from Jan. 6, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit." Clyde recently told a Democratic colleague, "I stand by that statement." In May, Senate Republicans shot down a bi-partisan commission to investigate Jan. 6 after the commission was negotiated by Republicans themselves. Last month, when four officers testified before a select committee of the House on the assault, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters he was in "back-to-back meetings" and therefore unable to watch it.

Don Winslow: My Letter To Republicans

10 August 2021

If enough of you share this, maybe it will eventually get seen by the people who
most need it. You never know.

Dear Republicans, I know you won't listen to Hollywood people or New York people,
or God forbid, those libtards, so here's a video featuring exclusively your heroes.
I want you to listen to your own leaders in their own voices. You can't call this fake news.

These are your pals. Unedited. Roll tape. The video follows with a supercut of
Republican leaders telling people to get the vaccine.

Each one of these Republican leaders took the vaccine and they made damn sure
their children took the vaccine but then they worked behind the scenes to create
a marketing plan and that's what it was, targeted at low information Republican
voters that tied your personal freedom to not wearing a mask or taking the vaccine.

I love the poorly educated!

The narrator says, "They are laughing at how gullible you are and here's the kicker.
While they're laughing at you, you are sending them donations.
You are literally paying your Republican leaders to deceive you.
"Think about that."

I go to a large evangelical baptist church in the south. https://elevationchurch.org/

But the pastor isn't a Trumptard! He is the opposite. Six years ago he was described by news as the most brilliant and well spoken pastor of all.

He must know something. During Trumps furious attempt to deny the reality of the election results he said in a sermon that "crazy is not news" and that trying to force him to watch it 24/7 was something he made a choice not to do. He doesn't use names, but when a group pressed him about Trump, he finally replied:
"If you've been through the last 2 years and don't believe the devil exists, we need to help you."

Go Pastor Steven Furtick!

Before the right embraced COVID-19 denial, there was climate denial. Many of the attitudes that have characterized the right-wing response to the coronavirus pandemic — refusal to acknowledge facts, accusations that scientists are part of a vast liberal conspiracy, refusal to address the crisis — were foreshadowed in the climate debate.

Yet from the response to COVID-19 among Republican officials — especially the opposition to lifesaving vaccines — it’s hard to escape the conclusion that the paranoid, anti-rational streak in American politics isn’t as bad as we thought; it’s much, much worse.

On Monday the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its latest report. The conclusions won’t surprise anyone who has been following the issue, but they were terrifying all the same.

Major damage from climate change, the panel tells us, is already locked in. In fact, it’s already happening, as the world experiences extreme weather events, like heat waves in the Pacific Northwest and floods in Europe, that have been made far more likely by rising global temperatures. And unless we take drastic action very soon, catastrophe looms.

We can, however, safely predict how influential conservatives will react to the report, if they react at all. They’ll say that it’s a hoax or that the science is still uncertain or that any attempt to mitigate climate change would devastate the economy.

That is, they’ll react the same way they’ve reacted to past warnings — or the way they’ve reacted to COVID-19. Extreme weather events probably won’t change anything. After all, Republican governors like Ron DeSantis in Florida and Greg Abbott in Texas are still opposing virus-control measures — not just refusing to act themselves but also trying to block vaccine requirements by local governments and even private businesses — as hospitalizations soar.
