DON'T DRIVE AND USE A CELL PHONE

I know you are out there. We all do it. Dial, answer calls, chat with friends, spouses, kids, lovers. DON'T DO IT My bike is totaled and my ankle is mangled and I can still see the idiot with his phone up to is ear, elbow on window ledge, cutting the corner on his left hand turn. I got lucky, saw him coming and got most of me out of the way. My bike wasn't so lucky. So, an ambulance ride and two hours in the emergency room has told me DON'T DO IT.

Anonymous prayer
God, if I can't have what I want, let me want what I have.

Thank you pleaseteaseme :rose: I am mostly ok. Won't be running ,riding, or climbing for a bit and not sure how I will push the clutch on my car either, but it could have been much worse. Now I know what a squirrel in the middle of the road feels like with a big GMC Sierra bearing down on it.

Mostly I am ok, very angry, but mostly ok, I think  . Things will be looking up by tomorrow, I am sure.

Thank you for caring :rose:

Ohhhhhhhh Styder I am sooooooooo sorry.....but i was trying to call you ;)

My state, New Jersey, has the no hand held cell phone usage when you're driving, but most people don't obey it. Glad you weren't hurt more seriously. You shouldn't have been hurt at all! Feel better soon, Stryder... :rose:

((((((((((Stryder))))))))))) :rose:
I'm so sorry that you had to go through this. Saying a prayer for your quick recovery and healing for your ankle. You have every right to be angry. I hope you told the person off good.

Bad things always seem to happen to good people :rose:

NY also has that law and enforces it with a passion...yes I know about NJ having the law too...its been floating around there for a couple of years now [hehe was great for selling headsets along with cell phones]. On a second note of NJ...didn't they just pass a law that you can't smoke in your car??

At least you are still alive....bikes can be replaced, you cant.

{{{pleaseteaseme}}} :rose: X-rays came back negative, lucky for me, but it sure hurts like hell. Foot and ankle are a bit bloody and very swollen. Overall, I guess I am doing ok though. Didn't sleep real well last night. Kept seeing a black GMC Sierra coming at me  .

{{{Beauty}}} :rose: Thank you. Feeling a bit better this morning. Glad to hear about the law, but difficult to enforce. I am as guilty as others, but I doubt I will be doing it in the future. He never even looked. But, I will get better and be out there again one of these days. Thank you again :) :rose:

{{{{Babydoll}}}} :rose: Thank you :) . Your prayers are welcome and I thank you for caring so much. I am doing better today, still angry though. As for telling him off, well, let's just say adrenaline kicked in. I knew my bike was totaled but didn't even realize he had hit me and I was up and in his face before the truck stopped rolling. The cops had a good laugh as the guy was about 6'4" and 250, a bit bigger than me, and I guess I scared him a bit. I almost felt sorry for the guy, and he did take full responsibility, but it should not have ever happened. Hopefully he won't be talking on a cell phone and driving anymore. I am just glad I saw him coming  . Have a wonderful day and thank you again. Your thoughts and prayers really help :) :rose:

You are right, priorities, I am alive. But my $500.00 bike is smashed and it was such a good friend :( . I know, but when it happened the first thing I thought about was my bike. It was probably 5-10 minutes later that I realized I was bleeding and really couldn't stand on my left leg. Adrenaline does amazing things. But nothing broken and he wasn't a foot farther too the right or going any faster, so I am alive. Thank you for reminding me of what is important. :) :rose:

Hope you get better soon....and get as much rest as possible

Not real sure what will happen with insurance. I am new at this, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I assume my medical and bike costs will be covered. We will see.

Stryder: Sorry about the spill. As the amulance chasers say, "if you got a phone, you got a lawyer". Call if you need me. Btw, that post from DLL? Did she tell you she drives a Denali?

Stryder, I'm sorry to hear of the accident. How are you feeling? I hope better and better each day. Giving you virtual hugs. :rose:

Also, I'm heeding your words, if I need to talk with someone I pull over. Frankly I'd rather not be so accessible so I turn the dumb thing off.

LOL... mine's on ALL the time as it's my main phone... I don't have a land line. I do talk on the phone in the car when I absolutely must... but I use a headset. Fla has a "hands-free" law... at least they were trying to pass it. I'm not sure that it ever went through... but I used a headset way before they even introduced the bill... just common sense.

Stryder,

Sorry to hear about the accident. While it was not intentional, it hardly sounds like an accident huh?

Good to hear no major broken bones. Being laid up and prevented from riding, running and climbing will be rough. I had a major injury last fall that kept me down and it just about drove me nuts!

Best wishes on a speedy and complete recovery!

DC

Stryder :rose:

Good thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery are headed your way.
