I have always loved that quote.“When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
― C.S. Lewis
Yeah, covers a LOT of ground in a very short sentence.I have always loved that quote.
This is much like the grieving process....There are things that will always remind me of a person -- a scent, the line from a song, a flavor. And things they said that still echo around my mind with perfect fidelity, and words you can't take back. All of it, good and bad, bringing a smile or maybe even threatening a tear. And that is okay, that is life, that is...things I refuse to define. But I am a believer in "deal with it and move on." It is an outstanding strategy and it usually works. However...
However...
However, sometimes you don't "get over it" -- you can't. Rather you pack it up and carry it with you, a part of you forever, and, eventually, you no longer notice the weight.
Exactly. It was something that originally came to me while grieving, but it covers a lot, especially when it feels like grieving anyway. This is much like the grieving process....
The weight eventually just becomes part of you...
I’ve subscribed to that philosophy for about 12 years now. Solid logic!I say that!
