I think these two quotes really sum up the Lit couple situation. It's about what the parties involved feel comfortable with, and respecting those boundaries.
Applies to general flirtation as well. Respect is never a bad thing.

And for those that need the question in written form:
Does knowing someone's Lit couple status affect whether or how you flirt with them? Is public flirting on the threads just flirting, or is it cause for jealousy by a Lit partner? Where do you draw the lines for flirting, both giving and receiving?

I don't flirt with coupled people. Even if their coupling is not public info. I am respectful that way. I try to err on the conservative side, always. I figure , why make anyone in a relationship mad or uncomfortable when there are so many single folks I can do that with?

I've found it hard to be on the boards here and not be a little flirty. Which makes it hard, er difficult, to be in a relationship. This is a playground, a place to have fun, yet you want to be respectful of your special friend. Sure it's a cause and source of jealousy. It can be a real fine line to walk at times. In fact it's real blurry line and thusly is interpreted differently by different folks which can and does lead to mis-understandings.

I think about 90% of the time I couldn't tell you if I was flirting or not. I'm just me. If I'm posting with half of a known couple, though, I am conscious of being respectful of that relationship. I may be a teeeensy bit sensitive about it - in the past I had a "friend" who, as soon as she thought I had an interest in someone, would bombard them with flirty posts and PM's, steamrolling me out of the conversation. I'm not one to get into a competition like that, so I usually just let it go, figuring if the guy was truly interested he wouldn't let that stop him. After about the third or fourth time though, when it became clear what she was doing, I wrote her off as a friend.

It does boil down to respect, for me. That, and full disclosure from the person I'm interacting with. If you are in an exclusive Lit entanglement, tell me. I will be mindful of that and respectful, always.

This is Lit, and flirting will happen. It's a natural part of the culture. It's fun, free, but it does sometimes have side-effects. I have suffered a flirting hangover, or two.
In some ways, being in an exclusive Lit relationship is harder (as far as flirting goes) than a r/l commitment. Flirtatious banter and comments abound (yay!), and even with boundaries set and observed, misunderstandings happen. Haha! Very cute, Jenny.

Going a step further, I try to stay away for a while even if I've been assured that a Lit-lationship had run its course. The other half may still be sensitive to seeing their former other half flirting on the boards. Been there, done that, the t-shirt still fits. So I try not to do it to anyone else.
