I will be back when I fire up my laptop! I'm so excited about this question and the fond memories of my childhood, that typing on a cellphone would stop my train of thought!
Okay! I'm back!
I LOVED summers! If I wasn't up at my nannie and poppop's farm, running through cornfields and exploring in the woods, I was out with the neighborhood kids and my two older brothers playing baseball pr dodgeball or riding bikes (climbing trees and buildings to jump from, but that's another story!) We'd go fishing with my uncle, and I was in charge of finding the worms. There were family get togethers every other weekend, and the picnic tables would be laden with crab from the Chesapeake Bay, corn, EVERYTHING! And by family, I mean all 8 of my mom's siblings, their spouses, my cousins! IT WAS AMAZING! In August, we all headed down to the New River area in Ashe County, NC where they were from for the annual family reunion on their mama's side. Yeah. HUGE!!! We'd stop to see my great-grandparents on their 33 acres of wooded mountainside and go hiking.
We moved to Georgia the year I turned 13, so things changed a bit. But, I still go back to Maryland and I still see childhood friends and my family.
*starts planning the next reunion*
I miss Maryland crabs......the ones up here near Seattle isn't even close.
