My risk this week will be more basic.
I get to take my autistic son clothes shopping. Ugh....
I would have been no better in that situation. As I've explained before, I tend to relate to women first and foremost as friends, with deeper feelings only growing once that basis is established. In that situation, I'd probably interpret the roommate's actions as seeking support with her choices of panties (possibly to give her confidence in wearing them for her boyfriend?). I certainly wouldn't assume that she was coming on to me. I'm pretty dense when it comes to that.

*tosses name in ring of inept flirt recognizers*
Me: I think...maybe...could he be flirting with me?
VT: Ya think?
Me: No. I'm serious. I think...he might be flirting.
VT: Of course he's flirting you idiot!
I too, can recognize it when it's directed towards others. Myself, not so much. Oh. And VT might not actually have called me an idiot, but I'm pretty sure that's what she meant.
Divine. It doesn't seem like I've been anywhere new in ages!
And here I would have totally taken you for a risk taker. Another illusion shattered.
*sobs in corner*
God's speed. Lead with the boobs.
And VT might not actually have called me an idiot, but I'm pretty sure that's what she meant.![]()
Oh, geez. That does not sound fun. Have you considered ordering from a catalog? Or offline?

I did, but considering I don't know his sizes that well, I need to get him sized.
It'll be fine.....I hope.
I think I'd rather go through nine circles of hell than attempt that read. Oh, wait a moment...For me…a new read. I have never read Dante’s Inferno. I am a little embarrassed to admit such…lack of erudition, but yeah. Poetry (or any approximation) is like a foreign language to me, a long dead foreign language, with no primers extant.
I think we can extend the scope of the challenge to doing someone new, as long as you report back.Hmmm...who might be welcoming to my....
Oh, something
I'd prefer that too. I'm fine with flirting as a game, when both players know that it's just a bit of respectful fun and not meant as a declaration of serious intent. Indeed, tinglebliss and I encourage each other to seize those opportunities, as we enjoy watching the game as well as playing it, and we love to see each other shine.Re: flirting: I can tell when someone is intentionally flirting with me. What I have a hard time with is discerning the difference between someone who is interested but reluctant, and someone who's not interested, but polite. There really needs to be some sort of universal signal for those situations.![]()
It's time for another question!
Let me see.*looks into goodie bag!*
Found one!
Let's make it a risk week!
Push yourself to do something new over the next few days! Read a book by an author you’ve never read, watch a movie you wouldn’t normally see, talk to someone you’d usually avoid, eat something exotic — you get the drift. Tell us your plan now, but feel free to change it up.
Report back by Saturday! Bonus points will be awarded for extras! Results will be scored and entered into your permanent Lit file (we've seen some of yours — hmmm!). C’mon people: be brave!![]()
It's question time again. This is an easy question to answer, as I know you are still very busy with yesterday's one!
Pets! Are you a dog or cat person? Fish or reptile? No pets at all? What do you think your choice says about you? Are you judge-y about other folks’ pet preferences? Have fun!![]()

I am a dog person. It means I'm warm, and open, and honest, and loving....

I'm a cat lady but the kiddo is allergic. She's allergic to dogs too.
So we now have a small but growing menagerie consisting of a turtle, a lizard, and a parakeet. We've had rats before, and fish... I'm told there are hermit crabs and possibly a toad on the horizon... frogs have been discussed.
I had to do a brief educational session on why we can't have a pet meerkat this past Saturday.
I draw the line at spiders and snakes.
Cat, definitely. I like the 'pretend aloof' thing they have going on, right up to when they blow their cover by curling in your lap and purring. Purring - brilliant way of teaching humans when they're doing the stroking right.
(Weirdest 'pets' we had growing up? Stick insects. Very odd choice on the part of my parents)

Stick insects? I am jealous
Its nothing to do with "pretend aloof" they just have a crap attitude, like looking up as if to say "open the door"
I had stick insects, i was feeding them some privet leaves on the kitchen table, when i came back the table had been wiped over by my dad and they were squidged, i was mortified
I remember my mother covering up their cage while we ate our turkey
