I have always had a hankering to live on the moon.

I blame it on adolescent reading choices. Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is one of my favorite books. How would I do it? Pressurized domes?

Oh! And there was another book where humans colonized other planets. Can't remember the name of the author or the book, but the ship crashed and the colonists ended up on planet reminiscent of Cretaceous period earth. Dinosaurs, people! Dinosaurs!!!

I've always had a yen to visit Maine. (Do not ask why because I do not know. ). Too cold though, I expect, for year around living. Washington would be pretty, or perhaps Wyoming or Colorado. Actual seasons, and trees and heavily wooded areas.

Not that Texas isn't superb in its own way, but aside from the hill country we don't have much in the way of pretty.

Great story - I loved it as a kid and reread it recently. Still interesting, especially from a modern viewpoint. It really hasn't dated compared to many.

This is going to sound horribly sappy, but if I could choose anywhere on Earth, it would be where I actually live, my tiny village in the middle of northern English nowhere. I love the green, the community, the quietness and the noise of the countryside, and the sense of place and anchor that it gives me.

But, but...

I'd add harsher winters - I want crisp winter mornings guaranteed, frost, snow even, cold that makes your nose run, and requires a thick winter coat outside and the lighting of a crackling log fire inside, and I want warmer summers - I want lunch outside, dinner outside and sex outside.

Well, I might choose Scotland. I have only been there once, but I really loved it. It is beautiful and the people are wonderful.

I've never really seen any point in living anywhere but Texas (sorry, Inspi), but if I HAD to live somewhere else, I think it would be Scotland. When I was there, it just immediately felt like my soul had been touched and I was home. Recently, in doing research on my surname, I found out it is a very ancient Scottish name rather than English or Irish as I had thought. Like lakesailer said, it's beautiful, and the people are wonderful, plus it appeals to my love of history.

But, but...

Hmmm...you might want to try a small town either in the upper midwest of the U.S. or out near western S. Dakota or Wyoming. It can get pretty damn hot in the summer and I guarantee you won't find much harsher winters. And honestly, it is some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen.
And I love small English villages! One of my most fond memories from my days in England is a walk from one small village to another. About 3 hours, through fields, along a little river. It was a nearly perfect spring day too: gently puffy clouds and a light breeze. If I could pick a day and relive it for the rest of my life, it would probably be that one.

Can't pin point a place! Somewhere you can sit and watch the world go by and loss yourself in the experience.

I have great memories of Scotland seeing how many castles MF and I could visit over a long weekend. The weather and scenery was brilliant. ...and Cornwall, where another chapter of my life started for me.

Tulips. I happened to see tulip fields once on a trip to Amsterdam. It’s been years, and it’s still one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I remember it vividly.

Scent is a toss up. I love deep, heavily scented flowers. Richly-scented old-fashioned roses and magnolias are my two favorites.

Plumbago. It’s just a bush, really, but when it blooms it has the most beautiful blue flowers. My heart lifts when I see them, a big surge of happiness. No idea why.

Altroemeria is my favorite. You can get them in a variety of colors and I love them all. (They're cheap, too.) I buy myself a big bunch of them about once a month, just because.

Oops, I got so excited about looking for flower pictures that I forgot the rest of the question! lol

I don't really care for floral scents. I love flowers, but I'm not one to smell them.

As for plants, I'm going to have to go with just a traditional ivy. It's the only plant that I can keep alive for any length of time.

My favorite flower has long been the snapdragon. As a kid, we had some and I loved playing with the flowers (the kind of look like a dragon head and if you pinch them just right, they open and close "the mouth"...hmmm now that I think about it, that's kind of erotic...really, seriously, just had that realization).

My favorite flower scent is probably Lilac. We had this huge Lilac in our backyard growing up. We have one in our current backyard too.

My favorite plant? Hmmm....that's more difficult.
I think the Maple tree. I really love the shape of the leaf, the colors in the fall. They are large and majestic. And I love syrup.
