In the world of amateur sailing, there are "ocean sailors" and "lake sailors." The ocean sailors often look down on the lake sailors as "not real sailors" because well, lakes are smaller.

Us "Lake Sailors" have a bit of a chip on our shoulders about that. But I'm proud of it. The Great Lakes (I've sailed on Huron, Erie, Michigan and Superior) are powerful and simply huge. You can sail for days, completely out of sight of land (few of the amateur ocean sailors do that, actually, they are more "bay sailors").

So, I'm a Lake Sailor, and proud of it. Oh, and I am from (originally) Michigan (it wouldn't let me just take, "Lakesailer"...so...). Also, I may not be the best speller...

I had hoped that it would seem cool, but in a quirky way. (I think, possibly, it worked).



This is cool. And I really enjoyed reading it. I am totally unfamiliar with this music (long story, I pretty much checked out of popular culture between 89 and 2001). I will run off and look up Puscifer.

I'm not a threesome guy, but Diana Troy and Tasha Yar would be my FMF threesome. Funny thing about that series. When I was watching it (one of the only things "pop culture" that I paid any attention to during that period) in the late 80s/early 90's, I had (like most 20 somethings) a HUGE crush on Diana Troy. Why did you pick your username? And how did attracting others play into that role?

Mine is from a poem by William Blake. Auguries of Innocence. A disposition of innocence and evil, light and darkness. It speaks to me.

It's also the title of a book by Agatha Christie. My favorite of her books, and something of a departure from her usual style. None of her usual protagonists, and almost gothic in a fashion, with a poignant ending.


I am liking these more intimate glimpses into people's usernames.

To be entirely honest...

It sounds sort of like another username that I like much better but is also very much tied to my real name.

Plus I'm a night owl.

I chose mine to indicate that I was interested in exploring the mental domain — of interacting with and stimulating people's minds — as opposed to being concerned with physical aspects. The verb "fondle" wasn't ideal (it may connote a variety of ideas: some unintended) but it was my best attempt at expressing an active and slightly cheeky engagement.

My choice reflects a deeper aspect of me: mental and emotional connections are everything to me; the physical world is just one way of validating and expressing those connections. It's an area where I differ from tinglebliss (and where we may both be in opposition to our gender stereotypes) — for her, it's the other way round, with physical sensations being primary. Still, we manage to work things out between us.

Mine is easy... before I came to Lit, a friend had called me his 'bare foot, bare bottomed girl' because I love being bare foot. My name was picked because I like dragons and I didn't just want to be a blue one. There was no thought put into how to attract others because of it. I choose to just be me and let the chips fall where they may.
