Pantaloon....I have to use that...I've always laughed at that word....He was resplendent in his purple, velvet pantaloons. As he walked into the great hall, women gasped and gaped.

Did he undulate in his pantaloons?

Maybe the women did after seeing him.

I wrote a story, long time ago, in my teen years, about knights from around the world, and one of them was Sir Rupert of the Golden Pantaloons . . . lol

Frigate

Always good for a laugh, or at least a chuckle. ;)

Spincter. It has a certain ring to it. Like, "William. You are so incredibly intellegent, you are like the spincter of the mind, in my eyes."

Thought I was thinking lower, didn't ya :D

I allowed myself only three: luscious (because Magica took voluptuous), sensuous and brilliant. They each sound like what they mean. That pleases me.

"Serenity".

A) Because I'm a 'Firefly' fan, B) Because it's a good Godsmack song, and C) Because it's the Layman's "goosfraba".

Somnolent.

It's a wonderful word! Plus it perfectly describes how I feel when I cuddle a sleeping child. :)

Except that it's sphincter.

"spincter" is not a word.

Yeah, "spincter" sounds like something a plumber would bring to work.

And now that I've made at least two women wet, moving right along...

Another nice word to me is "somnambulistic". Makes me feel all smart when I say that.

Another favorite word of mine is resonance.

I few years ago I was at a training course and the instructor was not a person with a scientific background. He kept trying to use all these words and terms and was completely butchering them. One of the words he kept using was "resonosants". I just looked around and thought..WTF is that?

Later that day we were watching a film and he jumped up and said "Look you can actually see the blast wave resonosanting off the side of the hill." I looked around and no one seemed confused but me.

The next day..at the beginning of class...I asked him to please explain this concept of resonosants and resonosanting. As he was explaining I started to laugh...and said..."Oh...you mean RESONANCE!" I then turned to the person next to me and said...gee...I always thought resonance was the rapid movement of pi electrons throughout a conjugated system. Nobody got it... :D

(I know...I'm an asshole sometimes)

Simply Said

I'm getting a real vocabulary lesson on this thread and had to pull my dictionary out a few times already. Since most others seem to be going in the big word direction I'll be a little different and go with something simple.

In my mind the words, PLEASE, THANKS, ALWAYS, NEED are very simle words and yet can be so powerful when spoken with sincerity and passion.

OK. Here's the thing.

Someone wished me a happy birthday with a really cool pic that I had never seen before. It kinda made my brain studder in a pleasant way.

Well that got me to thinking....after a while....about trying to describe certain emotions and such. More to the point, it got me to wondering about certain words that we choose to describe our own emotions.

One of my favorite words is discombobulated. I rarely if ever get to use that word in ordinary daily conversation. But I must say that that word is just about all that comes to mind right now.

So...what's your favorite word or words? And why?

Hee hee - soon as I saw the thread title I thought 'I'm going in there with discombobulated'.
Great minds and all that...

ps- I usually feel it, as well

Ubiquitous. I like that one (though I think that is the first time I have tried typing it).

Ojibway words tend to be long even if the english word is short. I like "noogshkaan," which means "stop." (first Ojib word I learned - it's on the stop signs :D )

How do you pronounce that?

You told me once before...but please don't make me go and search through my downloaded PMs. It's much easier to ask you again. :D
