Favourite Fairy Tales - Modernized and Eroticized

I'm not familar with the film, but there is a computer virus that's been circulating for quite a while with a subject of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (the true story)." It's an e-mail you definitely do not want to open.

By the way, even if you have anti-virus software to shield you, only the first few lines of the "story" are there, anyway. Geez, you would think if someone were going to infect your PC, they could at least give you an amusing story to read before having to reinstall Windows!

I know about that one Be warned

My comp is already screwy enough without a virus, thank you very much.

Decided to do one

I've written up Rapunzel. The first draft is 20 handwritten pages single spaced. I expect the typewritten, edited work to expand out to about 25 pages. I'll try to finish by the weekend. Can't wait to see what you all think of it!

I lot of folks here probably can't wait either. And, let me pass along this guy's admiration for someone with the guts to tackle a project longhand rather than in MS Word!!! Wish I could say the same for myself. Then again, I'm not much of an author, either. Sigh. :(

I have a book somewhere that is basically a re-telling or continuation of a collection of children's stories. My favorite was Goldilocks.. Goldi and the youngest bear had hooked up and had kids, but the flame was dying in their marriage and they both took turns complaining to the "psychiatrist" (reader). Just funny details in general, like when Goldi's roots are growing in.. Dear lord I'm rambling. Anyway, I highly recommend you check it out.

I've been dying to do Beauty and the Beast for as long as I can remember. I have the characters completely plotted out, have even been sketching them for ages, but I'm so careful with the story that I've hardly started writing it.. First because I already know it would be a long, long story that I'd never quite be satisfied with, and second because it is so hard to avoid making it seem like bestiality rather than romance, and I do hate cliches..

grr

Beauty And The Beast

Go for it, write to your hearts content. If you submit it and want to change it, you can always re-submit it, and in the mean time, I'd like to read it! = )

It's a little modernized. Helps keep it separate from the Disney version some. And "Beauty" is not named Beauty, nor Belle. And it's not set in France. (Why always in France? It's not as though France is the only country that has castles!)
Oh lord, let me get on it and maybe I can punch out a bit that I'm happy with. Seeing as I wrote the first bits when I was about 14 I'm sure it'll need a bit of work, but how'd you like to edit? :D

It's usually set in France because that is where the tale was written originally. Written, or created, or started, or originated, or whatever word you want to use = )

PS-
I'd love to try to edit, but I'm not very good at content editing. I know when things sort of don't make perfect sense, I can tell you about spelling and grammar errors, but otherwise I'm sort of clueless = ) = )

Chicklet

Yes but I'm so stubborn. I don't want to cop out with "that's where it was originally set!" :p I understand historical accuracy, for example why would you set Les Miserables anywhere but France, but.. it's just a wonderful story. It begs me to tell it a different way. ;) After all it'd be a shame to set a story about vampires in Transylvania just because of Count Dracula, when I've never been to Transylvania and wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about and that would show in my writing?
Run-on sentence, right!

You seemed so keen for it, I couldn't resist. Besides, I think that Rapunzel and the prince got a bad rap.

This thread just suddenly reminded me of the Sondheim musical Into The Woods, which I believe is going through a revival right now.. any NYers know?
But anyway, it's not so much erotic, but characters from different fairy tales interact and etc.. For example Princes meet and wed Rapunzel and Cinderella, and then their wandering eyes lead them off after Sleeping Beauty and.. someone else. It's been a while.
Another character is seduced by one of the Princes in the woods, I believe it may have been the Baker's wife. Anyway I just thought if you were interested in fairy tales you might be interested in this.. I know I'm a dork. :p

Sounds quite amusing. I liked Shrek because of the fairy tale references. Man, I'm glad I have friends who have kids. I could watch that DVD over and over w/o ayone batting an eyelash at me.

Of course, when the seven year old thinks he's seen it enough and he wants to watch another flick, you know you have a problem!

Well it is a musical, so consider yourself warned. Some people can't stand storyline progressing through song.

And for my story, I do think I'd need an editor that would go through it with a good strong rake. I usually cut hundreds of dearly loved and thought-out words from a story before it's done, so I need an editor to convince me it's necessary, otherwise all of my stories would be long and rambling!
But maybe a sneak peek would be fine. :p

I love musicals. That isn't a detriment to me. Flying to NY, sadly, is.

Who can afford it?

The only times I go to New York on vacation, I use frequent flyer miles to get there and stay with friends. I'm a broke college student, what do you expect?

I hear that. Let me tell you that being broke isn't restricted to those in school. Wait until you get out of college with a few thousand dollars of unpaid student loans!
