Firefly

Odin's ship lifted into the air fast, and you could almost imagine it was an arrowhead. The ship really was as fast as it looked, and anyone with a trained eye could see the hidden weapon emplacements. Some were disguised artfully, but there's only so much one could do for such a task.

As the ship reached orbit, it just seemed to stop, floating there. He sat in the command console, and had everything else automated, though he had kept the secondary control system. One could never tell when one would find a crew. He saw a ship in orbit, a Firefly class, and figured that was the one the young woman was talking about. So, he pulled up beside it, and scanned for scrambled transmissions.

Inara on the ship

Inara docks her shuttle to Serenity, then hurrying past Jayne "useless" and the new guy... Badger?, she runs to the bridge.
"Zoe, you gotta let him dock!" She shouts, nearly out of breath. "He has the captain! I don't know who he is, but he helped Mal, and right now that is good enough for me, let him dock!" She takes a deep breath, attempting to regain her composure. Let him be alright, let him be alright!

"We should call Simon to meet them, the captian is beat up pretty badly." Inara tries to hide her nervousness by using the techniques taught by the Companion school. Breathe in, Breathe out, Calm your features... there...

Odin was uploading a course to a safer place. He also had an automated medical system checking over Mal. He kept an eye on the displays, even as he linked with Serenity's navigation controls. These guys were in deep in something, that was certain. Then again, Malcolm Reynolds was wanted for who knows how many crimes by the Alliance. It was really a wonder why the man didn't change his name. He spoke into the microphone, talking to them.

"It might not be safe to transfer him here. There's a lot of chatter on the radios, and I'd have to say some of it sounds like Alliance. Still, if you want him to be transferred here, my airlock is on the lower side of the ship."

inara on the ship

"I think we should take his advice... if there is Alliance out there, lets follow him to a safer place... we don't need to arouse thier attention."
Inara says to Zoe.

Zoe nods and touches Rivers shoulder, "Lets move to a more shiny place, what'cha say River?"
Rivers hands fly over the controls and Serenity moves to follow the strangers ship.

Inara relaxes into a corner of the room. Watching through the front window, she prays the others ship's captain is a good person and that Mal is safe, for now. When he gets home and is healed and safe... I am going to kiss him right on the mouth... then I am going to punch his lights out! She smiles as the comfortable old anger rises in her. Yes, I think I'll hit him with a steel pipe. Her smile widens.

Odin flew to an abandoned asteroid base. The base was still operational, and ran as a mining facility. He docked at one side, then picked up Mal and carried him out of the ship and set him on a couch on the base. He then stood there, waiting for the crew of the other ship.

asteroid base

With prodding from Inara, River moves Serenity to the coordinates sent by the stranger. Upon landing and leaving the ship, they find Mal, streched out in the strangers couch.
Simon hurries to Mals side and begins taking inventory on his hurts. The rest of the crew busies themselves milling about looking at the asteroid base.
Inara walks straight to the stranger, and offering her hand, thanks him."Hello again stranger," she states looking out from under her long lashes,"I want to thank you for helping me. He was heavier that I expected, and Jayne... well, one never knows where his head is.." she glances disappointedly in Jaynes direction. "I am Inara, the captian is ...my..friend," for a moment she looks embarassed, but it quickly passes "and I was so afraid he would end up in jail...or worse. I am ever in your debt for your assistance"
Her smile is genuine and warm, her face and clothing still dirty from the ordeal on the planet. But she seems unaware of her dishevelment and comfortable in her envorionment as she takes the strangers hand in hers in gratitude.

Odin raised an eyebrow, then smiled. The young woman definitely knew how to make an entrance, disheveled or not. He bowed low, taking her hand and kissing it. "You're quite welcome. To be honest, I myself am on the run from the Alliance. I used to work for them, till I found out what they were really doing."

Inara and the stranger

Looking over at Mal for the briefest of moments. Good, Simon is taking care of him, he will be okay. She readjusts her attention back to the stranger.

"So, Mr. ahh.....??" she leaves the question open. "What do you go by? I gave you my name, it is only good manners to give me yours, so ..we can be... ah, friends. So what shall I call you?" Her deep brown eyes look up at him through thick black lashes, her red lips spreading into a beautiful smile.

"Do you have a place where we could hold polite conversation?" she smiles agian, searching the room for a place to sit, "I am afraid I am simply overwhelmed by tiredness." She takes his arm in hers and walks by his side, "and after you tell me your name... then perhaps you can tell me more about the Alliance and what you've seen them do."

Her manner is easy and comfortable, there is no trace of deceit in her silky voice, only honest curiosity.

Odin smiled, then led her into a break room used by the staff that once mined the nearby asteroids. "My name is Odin. I'd prefer if we left it like that. I used to be an Operative. Then, one day, I was ordered to kill a little girl and her family. That was when I left."

talking

Inara looks at the tabletop away from Odins eyes with a sad look upon her face. She reaches out to him and grasps his forarm in a sympathetic gesture. "Oh Odin, how very awful." she slowly looks up to his chest, up to his neck, his mouth were she stares for just a moment, to his eyes. The slow movement brings attention to her very long thick black eyelashes and draws one's gaze to her eyes. She looks at Odin with sympathy and shock, "You must be both courageous and strong to deny the Alliance in such a way. So, you too are wanted now?" She touches his face gently, he can smell her soft perfume underneath the smell of her sweat and the dirt from the market place. "How did you ever escape their ....um employment?"

Her entire body it turned to Odin, her low cut orange silk dress revealing ample breasts and a thin curvy waist. Her arms covered by a gold see through material are strong, but feminine. The skin of her hands, still touching his arm and face is warm and smooth. Her eyes are dark and liquid, her lips painted wet and moist and her long black hair falls disheveled to her waist in large curls. The only thing that keeps her seemingly real is the dirt on her cheek and nose.
She seems to be totally interested in what Odin is about to say. Intrigued by him even.

Odin laughed, as her question wasn't really an issue. "Let's just say I no longer exist to the Alliance."

talking

"Well, alright then. So let us get to know each other a bit." Inara removes her hands from Odins person, but still remains close. "I have already asked your name and what you did, it is your turn to ask me a question." she smiles sweetly at him.

Odin thought for a moment, then smiled mischievously. "What was the now-famous crew of the Serenity doing on that particular planet?"

talking

"Well," saddness crosses her face for just a moment, then her smile is back although somewhat less sunny, " we went looking for a new pilot for Serenity. Wash... our pilot... was killed receintly.... and Mal, was looking to hire someone to replace him..." her voice fades just a bit, "replace his position." She looks away from Odin for a moment sitting back in her chair and putting her hands in her lap. She studies the room, then looks down at her hands for a moment. "As for the mess those idiots go into down on Persephone, I have no idea. Sometimes Mal's agenda is not known to all of the crew." A flash of anger and then it is gone. She is calm and smiling prettily at Odin. "Didn't really answer your question fully did it?"

Odin smiled. "It's ok, I'm used to bureaucratic double-talk. But it just so happens I know some people who used to work in the Browncoats' marines. They might be able to help you find a pilot."

still talking

Laughingly Inara says, "I didn't mean to be evasive. It was not my intention to mislead. It is simply that one never knows what trouble Mal will get into." Suddenly she looks thoughtful. "You know, if he ever becomes concious, Mal may take you up on your offer to help us find a pilot." she shrugs, "who knows? So," turning her attention back to odin, "what are you going to do next?-Wait, I just thought of something... how did you know it was Mal, and that we were on Serenity? I don't remember telling you and our beacon is coded!" She stands up, looking down at Odin questioningly, her manner reflects sudden unease. She quickly glances around the room and notes the exits and her proximity to them.

Who is he? and have I said too much? Are we in jeprody? Damn... how did I get so foolish today?

Odin pointed to a display on the station, showing the news. "You guys made quite a mess a while back. Still, it's a good thing the Reavers are gone."

talking

Inara, looks over at the vidstation, and laughs nervously, "Oh, yeah... that. Well... I am sorry, you must think me so very foolish." She smiles shyly, embarassed and sits back down. "I thought we'd be forgotton by now. There is enough going on in the universe without us being in the headlines."
She shudders, "It was a horrible experience, one that haunts everyone that went down.. even River. . . I hope we never run into anything even vaguely that disturbing.... and just wrong" She screws her face up into a look of disgust and sadness; a tear escaping from one eye, as she recalls her lost friends and the waste of it all...

Odin nodded. He himself had seen a lot since the Reavers went to war. Still, he could theoretically get rid of their news presence, but that would present problems of his own. He sat back in thought, wondering which of his contacts would be best suited to an old Firefly.

talking

Inara sits in uncomfortable silence, watching Odin thinking.
"Y-you know, any help would be appreciated." She sits with her hands in her lap, quietly waiting.

Inara begins thinking of her client she needed to cancel with, they had left Persephone in a hurry and she doubted they would return right away.... ah, sometimes Mal was bad for business... how was a girl supposed to earn a living?

Odin opened his eyes, then smiled. "Several things would need to be done. For starters, your friends' criminal records would have to be erased. I know some people who could do that, but it would take some time. Also, finding a pilot should be easy. In fact, I know someone who would be perfect." With that, he got up and tapped at the terminal, writing a brief message to said person.

Surprised at his statement and what it implied, Inara watched as Odin, went to the terminal and began tapping information into it.

Who is this man, really? and why does he seem so willing to help us, most of all, what will be the price of his assitance....? she thinks to herself. She sits calmly, hands in her lap. She tries to watch and see everything he is doing from her vantage point. It might be important sometime to know such things...

OOC:
So it looks as if you and I are the only ones on this thread... shall Inara and Odin mutiny the serenity and go off flying into the universe, causing trouble? LOL! Just kidding. I actually have PM'd the starter of this thread several weeks ago and he said that he would get back on... lol. hmmm.. 'k... thanks for playing with me... :cathappy:

OOC: kind of sad, yeah?

IC: Odin finished his message, then sent it, and walked over to check on Mal. The man seemed to be fine, just a slight knock to the head, but one could never tell. This Simon seemed to be a capable doctor, though, so Odin figured the man was in good hands. Odin walked back over to Inara, and smiled, sitting back down. "To answer your unspoken question, I am a man who no longer exists. I have assumed new identities, in an effort to leave behind the corruption of the Alliance."

OOC: sorry I have been gone so long... and after my RANT AND ALL!

IC:
"And where does that leave us now?" Inara asks glancing beyond Odin, at the still unmoving body of Mal. Remembering herself, she looks up shyly at Odin's face, and stammers, "I mean, now what?" Still looking into Odin's eyes, she takes his right forearm with both of her hands, "I don't know how we will ever repay your generosity or your trust of us. I only hope we have something of... something that you might.. um, value, on Serenity. . . for all of your trouble that is... we are, of course, very grateful to you." She holds his gaze for a moment then lowers her eyes to her hands, releasing his forearm slowly, straighting the fabric of his sleeve as she does so.

Sounds of movement and low voices come from behind Odin. She looks up to see Jayne, the new guy and Zoe lifting Mal and carrying him to Serenity. An idea hits her.

"Odin, right? Would you come over and share our evening meal with us? I am sure the crew would like to personally thank you for taking care of our captian." She hits him with one of her most brilliant smiles, hoping he will accept.

Odin thought for a moment, then nodded slowly. An exchange of hospitality was a good thing, he decided. Besides, he'd want to speak with Mal when he awoke. And they would need information on their next destination, he figured. He'd have to contact his informant net, and get as much information on the state of the galaxy as he could.

OOC: i'll be gone today
