One of the people I edit for told me about this. http://www.bdsmforwriters.com/Conferences.html

Not for me since I write purely as a vicarious pastime (and the BDSM category doesn't seem to like me), but if any of you are looking to sharpen your writing skills (and can come to NYC on the 17th of August), look it up.

Also fun for the interested.

Cheers!!

Hmmm... strange that a website purportedly set up for writers would:

  • Spell the host's name two different ways: Dr. Charley, Dr. Charlie
  • Misuse emersion for immersion
  • Offer a session on "Criminal Minds & PTSD education" (How do Criminal Minds and PTSD relate to one another? Why is "education" not capitalized?)
  • Misuse the word "ensuring"
  • Begin two sentences with either an adjective used as a conjunction or a conjunctive adverb properly used to *join* two independent clauses
  • Use some rather strange, non-standard capitalizations
Sure, there are lots of reasons for various errors, but one would think a site designed to appeal to writers would have been proofread by more than one person. I'm not really sniffing wrong-doing here, but perhaps something less than complete professionalism?

Seems like a whole lot of "life coach" types are jumping on the bandwagon.

There's actually a good reason to misspell the Dr's name, which is that people might misspell it looking for her :)

Also, she isn't saying she is a writer, she's saying that she can help writers get it right in their writing
