Freeport Adventurers

That would be kind of you - my reason for hurrying to meet this elf and join the party tonight was at least partly lack of funds. I had intended to sleep in the woods but a shared camp is always safer and more pleasant'
*smile*
'If you tell me where you are camped I can join you there - I have my horse to collect'

Perrin takes the necklace from Fern, holding the process thing in his oversized hand. He is confused to see Fern leave the room, but realizes that she has changed her mind about adventuring. He was looking forward to adventuring with her, but it did not work out. He takes the stone from Jeselyn and places it in his pouch. He says that he will see them in the morning. He then puts Ferns necklace around his wrist and retires to his room.

Jeselynn

Walking around the room to the window, and picking up the stones on the window sill. Looking out the window, i see two of the group talking and the one lone person to leave walking swiftly towards the south gate...

Thinking to myself ,"i wonder if anyone else will showup tomorrow"

Moving to the door I close it and go the the edge of the bed. Bending to the floor and picking up a pouch I pull it to me and go to sit in the middle of the floor.. opening the pouch I pull out the small bags from the bank.

Narration 0

Thinking back to when she was young Jeselynn remembers that her mother was always worried about others' thoughts. The village elders had told her mother there was somthing different about Jeselynn, her only child. Her mother had been taken by a lone Drow one night and he kept her locked up and had his was over and over. Brutally raping her.

After several long weeks he took her and left her in the woods tied and beaten. The elders had sent search parties and pathfinders to bring her back... It was Jeselynn's mother's husband and brother that found her mother. Several days went by before they descovered she was with child. Her mother was devasted, but the elders forbid it's destruction. They promised a great being, a new begining.

Growing up alone by herself, Dinyoe, her mother's husband showed her adn taught her. She seemed to know magic from the begining, more powerful than any of the strongest grey in the village. The elders took Jeselynn after her mother angered her and she reatliated with a powerful poison. After a stausis of a couple of days her mother was fine, but too weak to care for herself let alone Jeselynn.

Pulling the Deep red stone from the soft pouch, Jeselynn stared into it and watched, in flashes, the people in the town. Past the woods and on to the mountain. Looking for an individual. A single person, seeing an image form in the stone it begins to glow a faint red. Peering into it harder she sees a man with a shadow.... the shadow of a changling, Huge. Massive.

Then the image fades and dissapears. putting the stone away, and back into the pouch. chanting slowly and closing the pouch she leaves the pouch where it lies, and standes.. finishing the chant. I check the spell and see the protection glowing satrong and blue in my minds eye.

Going to the bed and laying down I slowly relax adn fall into a light sleep..

"Just outside of town...it'll be the only fire you see," I replied, bowing my head respectfully to her, then began to move away. "I look forward to your company."
I made my way to the edge of town, then to where my camp was set, Matilda waiting patiently for me, her stomach full from grazing. Everything was bound to her, so in he event that someone might choose to steal from me, she could merely run off, escaping, and return to my call when needed.
Well-trained horse, i thought, patting her mane, I'm lucky to have her.
I unpacked her, setting up camp and heading out to hunt a short distance away. i brought back a rabbit, skinned it, and prepared the meat for cooking.
I kept the pelt. Such things could come in useful. A money pouch for instance, could easily be made, and sold if necessary. And the feet...the children loved the feet. Good luck, as the belief goes.
Looking at the venture ahead, I wondered if I should keep one of them, maybe offer one to my new companion when she arrives.
I placed the meat over a small but growing fire and waited.

night 11pm - 6am

I collect my horse and bags and ride roudn the twon to Fledgrin's fire. He is good company offering fresh cooked arbbit and a good fire to sleep by.
I am tired and talk little preferring to bed down and get some sleep before we set out. It is pleasent in the morning to share a camp with someone again - I have been travelling alone for a long time!
After we pack up bags ready to leave in the morning I ask Fledgrin If he wants to join me in picking up a few things from the trail and weaponry shop in town before we meet the others

11pm to 7am

Perrin gets undressed and gets onto the hard corn husk filled pallet they call a bed here. He has a hard time sleeping, he misses the sounds of the wilderness around him. He has a dream of the last battle that he participated in , where during a fight with walrus men, something strange happened. He sees himself changing into a Polar bear and mauling some of his enemies into the blood covered ice. He awakes from the dream in a heavy sweat. Did it get warmer in his room? He looks down at himself and sees that he is covered with white fur and his hands have changed to paws. NO, I will not allow this , he thinks to himself. He tries to will himself back to a man. It takes a mental effort that exhausts him, but he is finally able to change back to human form fully. After this, he does not want to sleep for fear of changing again. He sits up in his pallet , staring at the ceiling ; waiting for the first signs of activity in the Inn so he can leave his room.

As she asks if I will accompany her, I agree to, knowing I had to kill time somehow. We head toward town, managing to find the town center as the morning business just begins to take shape.
"So," I ask her. "Where do we need to go first?"

Jeselynn

Sleeping through the night....

Dreams of the past and of what might come..
troubled and rushed.

Waking in a cold sweat and getting up to go to the window.
Opening it I let the air flow over me. Through my light material of a gown and pacing the night away till the first rays of light

I need to stop off at the trail shop - I don't know what Jese will be supplying us with in the form of trail rations but I always feel better if I have somehting of my own in my pack too. I also want to pick up some herbs from the Coven magic shop.
*smile* you don't have to accompany me there if you'd rather not. I know some fighters feel a little odd around magical items and abilities.

Wake morning of meeting... 9 am

Standing up from the bed, I Move around the room picking up all my pouches and bags. pulling my cloak from the hanger by the door I place it inside a large heavy canvas pouch. Placing everything in the corner, I move towards the door as I hear a knock begin.

'ma'am, your bath is drawn and your stuff is ready in the stable behind the tavern!'

the barkeep read off his list adn told me everything I had requested waited for my inspection.

leading me to the room, I told him thanks and went into the steamy room...

Perrin finally hears some movement in the Inn, as the Innkeeper and his servants start to get the place ready for another day. Perrin packs up his stuff and leaves his room, a copper piece on the dresser to tip the room cleaner. He searches his pockets and sees only a few coins left. He hopes that this adventure pays well, but he has been poorer before.

He shoulders his pack and puts his weapons where they belong. He goes down the stairs of the Inn and finds the innkeeper at the counter. "What do you have for an early meal this morning , " Perrin asks. The innkeeper responds "This morning we have some gruel and some fresh fruit. Would that be sufficient for you?" Perrin answers "That would be fine, just bring a lot of it, I am hungry as a bear."

Perrin sits down at an unoccupied table, as they all are at this time of the morning. When the innkeeper brings the food, Perrin says his thanks and gives him a silver piece to pay for the meal. He quickly eats the meal, ripping apart the ripe melon to get to all the edible parts. He decides that he has time and grabs his possesions in preparation of leaving the Inn. He scans the room for any of his newfound companions, and finding none, he leaves the inn.

9.30am

After walking around to the shops and picking up the few things I need (and could afford) I suggest to Fledge that we head back to the Inn and see if the others are there yet.

Perrin 9 30 am

Perrin has spent some time aimlessly wandering around town. He looked at some of the street performers to pass the time. He has all his weapons ready to go, and his supplies are full. He decides to return to the inn. He gets in at around 9:45 and goes and sits at the table they had met at the night before, and waits for his new companions.

I shrug, why not? Then set out for the Inn, wondering if I should order an ale, or perhaps stick with some sort of juice and have something to eat. Drinking this early, especially given how long the wait would be for the meeting, might not leave me at my most helpful come 6 pm.

9:15-10:30 am

Soaking away in the hot water.. letting the nightmare slip away from my mind.

Staring at the cracks in the wall as the light shines through.

As I stand and dry off , I hear a noise at the door. It knocks once and then stops and i hear footsteps down the hall. I get dressed, and gather my things.. opening the door and walk down the hall.

I go to the corner booth and wave for the barmaid to get my order. I call for tea and sweet bread. she brings more than enough and I wait to be joined by the party.

Walking in to the firewater inn we see Jese sitting waiting in a booth and Perrin over to one side .
I turn to Fledge
'would you like something to drink - I'm sure they can rustle up juice or tea if its too early for stronger things; I'm buying - after all you shared your fire and food with me last night'

Edge

"Perhaps juice would be best, given the need to remain alert, at least until this evening," i reply, nodding to her my thanx.
WIth that, i wander over to Jese and sit down, noddig to her as well. I wait for Halia to return to the table.

Perrin sees Jeselyn enter the Inn and sit down at a table. Perrin is about to go and sit down, but is in the middle of eating and does not want to embarass himself with his table manners. He finishes his food as he sees Halia and Fledgrin enter the Inn. He sees Fledgrin sit down with Jeselyn , so he gets up from his table and sits down with them. He nods his head in acknowledgement at Fledgrin.

10:30-12:00

sitting with Fledgrin and Perrin and enjoying a nice hot tea. Listening to them talk of their night.

I ordered more food for them, they both seemed hungry.

talking over maps and plans to travel into the mountains. I warned of dragons and their keepers in the spyre...

looking around the room I sense two people watching from afar.

I guess I must seem ancious for Perrin seems to glance around the room. but the men have already left

Perrin is telling Jeselyn some of how has night had went when her scent changed. His sense of smell was better than most people and for a second there , she almost smelled scared. Perrin glances around the room to look for the source of her fright, but can see nothing that looks threatening. He returns to eating more of the delicious food that Jeselynn has provided. He thinks to himself, I wonder what would scare someone that is obviously as powerful and rich as Jeselynn is.

Sitting back quietly I watch the others talk and eat. Jese is a charming host and easily puts the two men at ease. I wonder if the other girl - Adraste I thought she said her name was will join us or not.
They make an interesting group the three of them; big Perrin - I think I like him there are brains in their and something else - he feels different ot other big fighters - detached somehow. i shake myself mentally 'stop seeing ghosts around every corner halia, he's just another mercenary/fighter looking to earn a decent crust'
mmm 'but what about this fledgrin' I ask myself. There is something about this one, I like the way he moves and works. And finally our host and employer - Jese. What will it be like out on the trail will we all be part of a team or will it be a case of employer and mercenaries. I don't care much either way, Perrin and Feldge will be good to work with.

I turn to idly musing on the strenghts and weaknesses of this little group, we should be a match for most pests and bandits and as for anything else we'll just have to wait and see. Numbers mean very little to me, its what the people you are with are capable of. I'd held of a whole command once with only Markus and Glorfin. That had been glorious but bloody. We only got out in one piece because we had the high ground, but then getting that high ground had been down to our skill and determination.

The food is good, and the company seems good as well, but as I sit, I grow restless. I've been here too long, I feel. I needed to move, to get out in the open, before I grew too used to such luxuries as food without hunting and days gone by without the labor of travel. Fat men were made in such ways, and worse still, lazy ones.
When the girl looked up, my attention was caught. I glanced around, the big guy and myself almost mirror images of each other (myself being in the smaller mirror) for a moment as we searched the room with our eyes.
Nothing.
Perhaps she was just paranoid. But then again...
"Is something wrong, Jeselyn?" I asked her.

clearing my throat, 'no nothing but as soon as you two are finished eating we must go and inspect our things. Everything is at 'Hooves' by the southern gate. we are due there by 1:00 but i would like to make sure things are ready before then.. since we plan to leave shortly after 6:30 tonight. '

looking at Fledgrin i study is face for a sign.

this town seems to make me nervous, along with the others..

I am glad we will be leaving tonight. The 'glade' will be better than any bed in any town!

Jese seems nervous despite her denial, Perrin seemed to pick up on it faster than the rest of us. I wonder some more about that man - he seems to sense things very quickly.

Jese says we will be setting out this evening at 6pm and that we need to go check over our things before that. I shrug, its all one to me. I haven't the money to take advantage of whatever sights the town has to offer and really I'll be glad to be on my way.

Perrin pushes away from the table. He has eaten enough for two men, but is more than full now. He drops a coin on the table for the serving girl. He picks up his supplies and drapes his weapons over his shoulders. He stands up and scans the room one last time, but no one in particular strikes him as paying their table particular attention.

He turns to Jeselyn, "I am ready to go inspect the supplies. I have already cleared out my room. I wonder if any others are here to join this group. Hopefully some others will come soon, this sounds dangerous for such a small group. "
