Freeport Adventurers

Hearing the words of the wise Drow, Perrin puts his axe back in the holder on his back. He goes back around to his spot at the campfire. He gets out the bowls and dishes out stew for all, even the newcomer. He hands the bowls to his companions and then sits down to eat .

The meal

Releasing my sword I positioned myself to one side, turning towards a slim woman, coming to stand between the two men.
" Men riding a the dead of night, often are not out to enjoy the ride. I also heard them talk of capturing a woman and killing any with her. They were heading in this direction. Be you not the ones they are after does not always ensure you safety. But it seems these men did not count on your magic. My name is Arciris de Winford. Paladin aspirant. My intentions were to offer assistance should you require it, not to start trouble."
I watched the tall one sniff the air, a curious habit to be sure, we could all smell the stew without such extravagant movement. The Drow approached me holding a necklace out if front of her, it began glow. Eyeing her for some trick, she appeared satisfied and moved towards the fire.
"As to the sharing of a meal, I happily accept your invitation, my own rations are almost depleted, but should we not worry that these men will wake. I hate having dinner interrupted, it always put me in a bad mood."

Jeselynn

'It should be an hour of so before it wears off... dinner should be good, then we shall go and find them first!' I spoke

Walking towards the fire and sitting.. 'please join us, we are prepared far past what we require' i stated

Edge

Even after Jese insisted we put away our weapons, I was weary. A stranger wandering into camp at this time of night? It seemed unsafe to invite him among us, especially given his approach.
Of course, Jese, was the leader. I slid my sword back into its sheath and sat down amid my companions, gratefully accepting the stew from the large Perrin. I decided I would keep my eye on this paladin.

Perrin

Perrin finishes the last of his stew, using the hardtack to sop up the juices. He pats Halia on the back and tells her how good the stew was. He gets up, stretches and asks Jeselynn when they are going to go after the men.

Jeselynn

Watching everyone eat, and finishing my own bowl of stew.
Rich and hot and filling. I thanked Halia for the greal meal too, and turned towards Perrin. 'If we are all finished we should go now.' I said.

Standing I looked at them and back to our newest member. they all seemed weary of the choice, but I felt strength in his being, and thinking on I decided that he should become a great asset in our safty.

'shall we find our would be attackers?'

Perrin

Perrin hears Jeselynn ask " shall we find our would be attackers". He nods his head in agreement , it is high time that they took care of these problems before they get worse. He was itching for a fight, he needed the exercise. He unlimbers his axe from the holder on his back, getting ready for the upcoming encounter.

After everyone had finished eating Jese says that we should go and find our would-be attackers.

Perrin is obviuosly eager to go - I grin at him as he thanks me for the food - 'a return on the wine you shared with me earlier' I say.

I unhobble my horse and leading it over to Perrin and fledge I mount up.

I watched the rest Finnish up and move towards there horses, Moving over to my own mount I check my gear stowed upon her. Seeing all in order, I stood, eyes close and invoked a prayer to Sul. Feeling renewed vitality enter me, refreshing mind and body I mounted my house.
" Before we start, I must be sure in the knowledge that this cause is just and righteous."

Perrin

I am such a Lummox, I almost forgot about my horse.

Perrin whistles over to Darkstorm. The black stallion comes to his side and Perrin easily vaults to its back. Giving some pressure with his knees, Perrin puts himself at the front of the group to take the brunt of any attack as he was used to.

Jeselynn

Mounting my horse, I followed Perrin and the knight. 'proof of a noble cause, I seek to return a lost artifact to it's rightful owner.' i spoke.

'it has been lost longer than humans have been around' i went on.

Falling in beside the woman introduced to me as Halia, I watched the axe man Perrin move to the fore. He seemed eager to confront the men I had passed. Although he took the lead, everyone waited for the Drow Jeselynn to give the order to move. Her answer only sparked more questions.

"Wrought in the elder days were object of great power, both good and evil, many are lost, some they destroyed because the power was too great for mortals to wield. I hope for our sake you have the situation in hand?"

Loosening my sword and checking my dagger, I kept my eyes scanning the path ahead.
" If your spell has worn off, we should be carefull of an ambush?"

Perrin

Perrin shakes his head. "No, they are still enscrolled. They have not moved from where they were stopped. I can only hear their breathing as if in a dream, no other movement."

Edge

I watched them start off, then stepped off to the side for a moment. I'd be of better service to them with Matty with me. I whistled loudly into the air three times, then paused and whistled twice more. I could hear her hooves as she neared. I quickly unloaded her heavy burden (all of my things having been tied to her, and left them with the other's items, then mounted and headed off behind them, catching up.

Perrin

Perrin leads them about a quarter mile from the camp. He peers into a thicket and sees some darker shadows where the men are. They are just starting to move as the party gets there. Perrin looks to Jeselynn for instruction.

Jeselynn

Motioning to Perrin to move onward, I urged 'Shadow' to follow.

Perrin looked a little weary of the men, and as we pulled up to their bodies, and i dismounted from my horse.

talking in a low voice, 'we should tie them up, maybe wake them then and see what they want.'

I tried to hide my anexiety and got some rope from my pack.

Perrin

Perrin takes some of the rope from Jeselynn. He grabs one of the men, pulls him from his horse. He quickly hogties the man, disabling his arms and legs. He moves to the next man and does the same, leaving him on the ground a few paces from the other man. He gets to the third man, pulls him to the ground and watches Halis take pleasure in tying this one up. Perrin sees that Edge has taken care of the other two men, while the paladin stayed on guard.

The sky began to lighten, as morning choose to appear, making the scene easier for my eyes to discern. Perrin and fledgrin had tied up all five. Jeselynn moved closer to the captured men intent on their faces I moved to her right to keep me between her and the trees, all the time scanning for other dangers. Over my shoulder I asked
" Do you recognise these men, as these who would prevent your misson?"

Jeselynn

Standing up, and looking at the men, i began to speak,' Yes, i know them, and i know the reason they are following me, I thought i had lost them before i reached the town... But then i swore i saw them. We must let them go. I must send them back.'

Standing up i reached into my bag and pulled out a small glass circle about 6 inches across, Placing it on the ground between them and getting another small pouch from my bag.

Looking at my group, I asked, ' is it ok with you all, if i send them back, they will prolly follow swiftly when they get back together, I would like to send them to different places, it shall take them longer and they will not follow till they are together.'

Perrin

Perrin has never been too understanding of magical thingies, so his mind is easy to make up. "Thats fine with me, it dont much bother me either way."

I help perrin tie up the men tightly. Jese says they have been following her 'do they mean you harm?, do you know what they want' I ask Jese.

'If they do mean harm should we really let them go?'

"It's either let them go, or murder them and I will not be a party to that. If you have proof they mean you harm, the town watch could lock them up? Else the law says they must be released, should they attack us then I'll fight with you."

Jeselynn

Looking towards Halia and our Paladin 'They mean me death, but no harm to anyone else. They are sent to stop my mission. I assure you I can handle them for the time, but they will more likely return....' My voice trailed

Sprinkling the fine white dust over the round circle between the men, it split and as i chanted, they began to fade, a fog engulfed them, and in a matter of seconds they were gone, the circle in the middle of them was shattered adn now black in color.

I picked up the pieces and put then into another pouch. Standing, I nodded the everyone, 'they will remember nothing ... but it should return to them in a few hours.. the will then locate the others, adn try to find me again. That spell will not work on them again.' I sighed

Perrin

Perrin looks over at Jeselynn with consternation. He has now seen another display of wizardly power by this drow. He will keep an eye on her and will be careful around her. He distrusts anyone with this kind of power. It is good to have someone like this as an ally , as opposed to an enemy, but Perrin is a firm believer in the power of muscle and steel.

Jeselynn seems tightlipped about the device and I wonder about reasons someone would try to take it from her. Either she stole it, or recovered it from another thief. She mention returning the device to an older race than us humans, but not what race. I best stay close least the world suffer.

"Well then if they will return perhaps, I could be of further assistance. My service is at your disposal'
Drawing my sword I held it out to the drow hilt first, motioning for her to touch the hilt. This she did and I spoke the ritual words of an elder day.

" My sword is you will, Till one is broken."

Sheathing my sword, I gave a formal bow.

" I only wish I had my father sword, not one I brought at the bazaar for two silver. They don't make steel like that anymore. Grandfather won at the Gathlinor annual games, Dwarven made, said to near unbreakable. Well beggars can't be chooses. Shall we be off "
