FYI - http://www.marketwatch.com/story/is-your-computer-secretly-a-bot-2014-06-02?siteid=yhoof2

International law enforcement authorities over the weekend took control of two hacker networks that have infected more than a million computers worldwide to steal banking information and lock devices until users pay a ransom, U.S. officials announced Monday.

People should run security tests on their computers within the next two weeks, before the masters of the botnets have a chance to regain control, the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency says. One malware-driven network, called “Gameover Zeus”, lifted banking credentials from as many as 1 million infected Microsoft Windows computers, to steal more than $100 million. The U.S. is home to the highest percentage of Gameover Zeus infections, at 13%, according to Mountain View, Calif.-based security company Symantec.

The second seized network, built using Cryptolocker malware, kidnapped files. Cryptolocker took hold of more than 234,000 computers, about half of which were in the U.S. Its controllers demanded ransom payments from people, making an estimated $27 million in its first two months, according to the Justice Department. Unless your business sites are IE11 compatible, I would not upgrade. I spend a couple of hours a day rolling back IE.

FYI - If you go to IE 10 and don't un check the automatic upgrade option, you will have IE 11 when you reboot.

Can anyone recommend a good mp4 player for android?

For that matter, a good, multi-format video player for android?

TIA.

Finally caved and bought a mechanical keyboard. Cherry MX blacks. I was thinking about browns but got a deal on a CM Storm Trigger.

I've had quite a few Asus mainboards (Asus is in my main system now).
Hopefully their laptop tech support is better than their Mainboard support.

I have a chromebook. Can I attach a webcam to it or are they all windows compatible which doesn't play well with google?

IE11 is the closest to HTML5 compliance that I know of. Also it is super optimized. I know all of you are open-source chrome lovers, but don't hate IE for the sake of hating it. IE has improved a lot since its IE6-8 days.

Why do you wish to attach it? As I recall, the chromebook has a built in camera.
Maybe to keep the computer out of the shower? ;)

Depends on the camera. If the chromebook has drivers for it, it should work. You'll have to look up the model of your camera and see.

I don't know if it's been posted. I meant to back in April, but forgot.
In case anyone is using XP for some specific task and wants to keep it.

It'll let you more easily rebuild your system if it dies.

Just get a copy of UBuntu LInux. Everything just works the way you want. Most of you are going to emailing and surfing. So I don't see any reason why Ubuntu won't work. If you're into gaming, avoid the laptop, get a Sony PlayStation or the Xbox.
