GeeBee Tech Support thread - pose questions, get answers

Meh, KMSPico still works so I have no intention of changing from 2013.

Her shit is her problem that I have to fix.

When I went buying a 10 machine {See above reasons} the guy was like, "you want AV yes?" And I said, the only people who buy AV are the people who need it.

And he went... oh... shit, you're right.

Yeah.

I bought her a cheap quad core in 12, let her do what she did with it. I kept an admin login just to save her from herself in emergencies. It is all her fault.

However... Microsoft deciding that they install 10 and not let you do anything with your DOCX resume because you should buy new OFFICE instead of view and basic change? At the moment, I'm willing to spend two hours to a computer and change a word rather than to buy shit I dont need.
Try LibraOffice. There's nothing to loose but a few minutes to install it.

Speaking of which, Microsoft has discontinued support of skype on smart TVs. What's an alternative skype setup?

Before you say "just plug a computer into the TV and skype that way", this is for a little old lady just wants to push a button to speak with her grandchildren.

And....go.

Assuming you really mean "alternative Skype setup" and not "alternative to Skype setup for a smart TV" .... Skype on a tablet? That's about as simple as it gets if she doesn't have a smart phone.

If you mean "alternative to..." I have no idea since I don't have a smart tv.

The latter.

Maybe side-loading Skype onto the smart TV?

On this site, "side-loading" sounds like a dirty, dirty fetish.

My mac doesn't seem to be holding it's charge like it used to. I've had it several years so I guess I'm lucky to have had it this long.

This might be a dumb question but am I better off getting a new battery or a new Mac or laptop? I've had such a good experience with this Mac, I wish I could afford another one.

How much is a new battery? And are you ok with apple only, or an aftermarket?
I've had both really good luck and really horrible luck with aftermarket batteries for things.

Depending on what you have to spend, a battery and installation is going to be pricey. There really is no good answer to your problem.

shit. Thanks for letting me know.

I personally order my mac parts from china and install them myself, but not everyone is comfortable with that.

When you buy an apple product it is with full knowledge that apple does not support old hardware. And if its over a couple of years old, then its old. Thats why it costs so much to have them serviced.

But if it is an older macbook, you can order another battery and replace it if it is not a book that has the battery under the bottom case.

Get a new Battery and replace it yourself. There are probably dozens of videos to show exactly how to do it yourself.

It's 4 years old, ltr and yeah, I think the battery is underneath. It's a Macbook Pro.

For anyone who, like me, thinks the Groove music app in Win 10 is unbelievably crap, you can do a lot worse than d/l Media Monkey. There's a free version and a Gold version. The free one is fine but the gold is better. Talk nice to me and I'll pm you a serial that should work to upgrade the free one.

I just started using it and fucked up my ID tags on (luckily) a copy of my shit. Right now, I have my Google Drive music folder synched to my microSD on my phone. That works great but I seem to lose the control functions of the app like shuffle and stuff.

Haven't put it on the 'droid yet, I just wanted something to replace Groove on my PC. Did I mention Groove is unbelievably crap?
